  1. Hi I found some really cool icons. These icons are really great at the same time MOST of them matches vista's original icons. I have over tons of icons on my HDD and there all mixed up, i will try to find all the MATCHING icons (to the one that is uploaded here) on my HDD and organize the icons to the correct resources soon. Hope you guys like it Link: Resources
  2. This is Ricktendo's editable firefox addon This is jonnyboys firefox addon maker. Creates a Firefox addon with all of your settings intact. ( i prefer this one, as its much more easier)
  3. Select "commit" Make sure you select (click on the) image you mounted, and then click unmount.
  4. No wonder it failed. Thats why NEVER remove everything from server or else it will fail. Server is different compare to vista when it comes to vlite. Removing certain components causes server not to install. Even if you dont remove too many components and succesfully install it, then server "add features and add roles" will fail to install its features or roles as well. Only 3 or 4 components can be removed safely. btw when vliting server, vlite gives you a warning when you select "componenets" something like this, "removing components can break add features" My advice is, do not remove anything if your planning to use server features, as server is not bloated compare to vista, you can remove certain stuffs and it will work fine, but might cause problems later. Tweaking server with vlite is safe. How many features is removed and whatnot has absolutely nothing to do with that the file copy part fails. The disc has most certainly been badly burned, burn a new one at slower speed. Do not give advice or such if you don't know what you are talking about. I know exactly what am talking about. I have vlited server countless times for testing to see how it works and its "add features and roles" function, if you do remove everything then server fails to install. If you remove few components then server installs fine, but "add features" break, only few items can be removed without loss of server add features functionality And yes, the high speed (bad) burn disc can also be an issue as well No, you are wrong. Please don't give advice based on your obviously lacking knowledge. I do not use Vlite, but I'm pretty sure Nuhi didn't give support for 2008 server if it will not install when removing all components. Me and Nuhi have had our differences, but I know he sits on that much of knowledge anyway... In any scenario, failing file copy stage has absolutely nothing to do with capability to install, and have no relation whatsoever with removed components. You boot from boot.wim which is loaded in memory, then the files from install.wim gets extracted to HD. After file copy to HD is done your system reboots and then your installation continous from extracted files. The only files you are altering with Vlite is the ones residing in the install.wim image. So I hope you can now see, that if file copy fails it has nothing to do with components removed. Instead of simply base your 'knowledge' on results from clicking vlite buttons, do some reading and try to understand what is going on in the system. I runned into same problem as above, "server 2008 failed to install". Reason was because i also did remove everything with vlite, and server setup failed. Thats why i said, i know what am talking about. Maybe you should try testing server and remove everything with vlite, to see it for yourself. Maybe you do have more experience than me in many things, but you can't master everything in computing, and sometimes some people with less experience than you can know more things than you in a particular topic. Sorry don't mean to be rude here EDIT: Yes you were right, the filecopy (expanding files) has got nothing to do with component removal (even i knew that), its main cause was badly burned cd. Just vlited and tested again BUT this time burned it at a low speed, (before i was burning cd at a very high speed), thats were i got the same problem as above, and gave wrong advice. So yes you were right . sorry!
  5. I think thats a very good feature request. I have many HDD drives, and my hotfixes, drivers, languages, etc. are stored very deep inside folders (just to keep it neat and tidy) so a feature like this will definitely make things so much easier as i use vlite alot Also another feature i would love to see if possible, is to add programs (addons) will be great, as am still waiting for this particular feature but never requested before.

  8. What components did you remove with vlite?
  9. Read Forum Rules, you can't upload your custom made vista or anything, as its ILLEGAL and against forum rules...THIS IS NOT A WAREZ SITE!!! Forum Rules
  10. When using a new or even old version of vlite, its ALWAYS recommended to use a clean vista source, otherwise these problems very unlikely, but can occur
  11. Simple, Put this first , before your other apps command eg. @echo off START /WAIT %SystemDrive%\DPsFnshr.exe START /WAIT %SystemDrive%\xxxxxxx START /WAIT %SystemDrive%\xxxxxxxxx START /WAIT %SystemDrive%\xxxxxxxxxx START /WAIT %SystemDrive%\xxxxxx exit
  12. Yes it done in notepad. But when it comes to saving, use "save as" option and save it with the extension "bat" I prefer my way, which is the through GuiRunOnce by editing the "winnt.sif" file. Open "winnt.sif" with notepad, and add this (winnt.sif file is inside folder i386) [GuiRunOnce] %SystemDrive%\xxxxx.bat Note: In your bat file add this at the end del %0 This will delete your bat file from HDD as well when its finish running your commands In order to do it this way you need to create a new folder in your xp cd. Create a new folder and name it $OEM$, and inside this folder create another new folder and name it $1, thats where you must put your bat file in order for it to work eg. @echo off del /s/q "%userprofile%\desktop\*VLC media player.lnk" RD /S /Q "%systemdrive%\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Start Menu\Programs\Eset\" del %0 On xp there are many ways of running bat files, but thats the way i prefer and i do it Good Luck!
  13. I dont know if it can be done by a reg file, never tried it, But i do it with a bat file. For deleting a shortcut link : del /s/q "%userprofile%\desktop\*VLC media player.lnk" For deleting a directory or folder in start menu: RD /S /Q "%systemdrive%\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Start Menu\Programs\Eset\"
  14. Instructions on how to install are inside the "bdaforserver" folder

    Vista Mizer

Hey did you try "V'ISO" by ricktendo Its an awesome transformer. It transformS xp to proper vista look, with icons and animations. (It sliptreams all icons and animations including boot and logon stuffs straight to your XP cd/dvd, so out of the box you will have vista look and feel) Link: V'ISO
  16. To find out which codec its using in MPC, just right click when the video is playing, and then choose "filters" it will show you what codec its using. You can use ffdshow, but remember, if your video card has "dxva" (video acceleration) then ffdshow will not use it (it can't use it). Ms mpeg2 codec uses dxva if available to provide more smooth and better video playback. i recommend you download "k-lite codec" and ONLY install cyberlink mpeg2 codec from that pack, Its the best mpeg2 codec out there
  17. Try the new version of vlite v1.2 beta, there is a new feature in tweaks section, "SERVICES" here you can disable many services.
  18. It could be a problem with WMP11 as well. anyways the best way to find out is by playing this video file in media player classic and configure to use Microsoft mpeg2 codec to see if it plays there. if it does play then its WMP11 problem, and if does not play then, ms mpeg2 codec. btw i did register mpg2splt.ax and mpeg2data.ax, and it registered succesfully. let me know, as i did have a similar problems to yours in the past, and managed to fix it (can't remeber exactly how i fixed it, as i messed about alot to get it working)
  19. what is the exact problem your having? can you play mpeg2 videos?
  20. "mpg2splt.ax" and "Mpeg2Data.ax" these are the mpeg2 file. I dont think removing any components removes, mpeg2 codec (i have removed almost all components and still mpeg2 worked)
  21. Thanks, but my main problem is "HKLM\SYSTEM" thats what i want to edit. i can hive all other parts of registry EXCEPT for "HKLM\system" it says Access denied Edit: got it working now. Thanks Aviv00
  22. Hey Aviv00, i have been using commands all this time to hive the registry, as thats the only way i know. How do you hive it manually? Thanks
