Ok, guys, the reason why I asked for help in connecting SCSI, because am getting 15-20 148GB 15K RPM Hdd's for FREE. For me, and am sure for you guys as well, anything for free is always welcomed unless it is a complete piece of junk. I know about SAS, and also do know that SCSI is an old tech, but because am getting them Hdd’s free, I thought why not just connect them to my workstation pc as I have only 1 Raptor and 1 500GB HDD currently connected to that pc.

Thanks to all you guys for your kind help. I have ordered an Adaptec PCI-E SCSI card with an converter. I was thinking of getting a SCSI RAID card, but they are way too expensive. Btw i have also got another 3x 148gb 15k RPM drives (same model as above but higher capacity) , so I wont bother with those 18.2gb anymore and instead will use the 15k rpm hdd's instead. Thank you

Hello Guys, I need some help connecting SCSI hard disks to my workstation pc. I don’t know hardly anything about SCSI’s, so some clear simple guide will be really helpful. I have got 4 of these SCSI hard disks. This is my motherboard But funny thing I don’t even know how many PIN connector this is, that’s why I took some pictures of it. My motherboard Asus P5W DH DELUXE (I have 1 spare PCI-Express slot and 1 spare PCI slot) Case Antec Server Case I do know that I will need a SCSI adaptor, but don’t know which one to get. Will I need any additional components apart from a SCSI adaptor? Would really appreciate if anyone can help me getting my SCSI hard disk set up. Thank you

BDA (Tv tuner support) on Server 2008/R2
shahed26 replied to shahed26's topic in Windows Server 2008
This does NOT support Server 2008 R2, only Server 2008. I have made an updated version of this BDA installer to support R2. I will NOT be updating this page anymore. For all support and help, go to this link: http://win2008workstation.com/forum/viewto...f=22&t=1023 EDIT: Updated first page -

This should do it for you.. -
Hi cluberti, yes i have desktop experience feature installed as well. Am using server 2008 x64 sp2 as workstation. Just cant get video thumbnails to work, even after a clean install. The only video thumb that shows is "wmv"
-
Hi Does anybody know how to enable video thubmnails for common video files eg, mpeg avi ts etc... I tried vista codec and klite-codec packs, but still cant get video thumbnails.. Checking the "folder options>view>display file icon on thumbnails" does not help as well, even group policy editor didnt work as well...

Just copy the "bda.sys" file manually to "C:\windows\inf" folder, and then run the setup.bat file. -
Vista SP1 Drivers ok for Server 2008?
shahed26 replied to BleedingEdge's topic in Drivers Compatibility
Am running server 2008 as workstation (SP2). All my vista drivers works just perfect on server 2008. I never had any problems with drivers under server at all. As cluberti mentioned, vista and server are the exact same code tree (same driver model) -
I like the idea of skipping vista and straight to windows 7. Am interested in testing vize 2, but i only run 64bit windows due to my 8gb ram. If vize 2 has support for x64 then let me know, am willing to test and give you feedbacks. btw good luck with your exams!

Wouldnt be suprised if more people say the same thing "Vista SP2 did not bring hardly any performance improvement" IMO, Vista was a mistake from microsoft, and soon as windows7 releases, vista will be history. Although i hardly had any problems with vista since SP1. Windows 7 is really shaping up to be a very good OS, but still there a few flaws, which am sure microsoft will fix before RTM.
-
Yes, i have Vista SP2 x64 and windows 7 RC x64 dual boot. Trust me, Vista SP2 does not bring any performance improvements (maybe just a slight overall speed increase, but i have not noticed anything). Vista SP2 is just all the vista post SP1 updates with few extra features microsoft added, eg windows search 4.0 (which am sure you already know) I have been switching between vista and windows 7 on my dual boot, and for me, windows 7 is more snappier faster, and boot time is also faster with windows 7. I really thought Vista SP2 would improve the performance of Vista by a large margin, but so far it has disappoint me in terms of performance. Overall stability and reliability wise, its great! Am sticking with windows 7 RC as my main OS for the time being

In your cmd file use command "start /wait" eg @echo off start /wait Ccleaner.exe start /wait firefox.exe exit By using this command, it will start installation of a program, then it will wait for the installation to complete before running your next application install.

I had Vista Media Center working like a charm on my Server 2008 x64 (64 bit). I had to fiddle with many registry settings, to get it to work. The answer to the problem "Windows cannot open this program because it has been prevented by a software restriction policy" is BDA files. (i think, cant seem to remember properly..lol) Funny i just re-installed my server, and lost Media Center, and dont have the time to write or create a batch file for it. But i will try my best to write a bat file to install Media Center on server. If i do get the time to write the bat file to install media center on server 2008 x64, unfortunately its going to be only x64. I DONT use x86 OS anymore, because of my 8gb ram. If anyone is willing to give it another try to get Media center working on server, then make sure you install my BDA pack as well. BDA (Tv Tuner support for server 2008)
