Yes, the red and white stands out more to me. Looks great! Cheers and Regards

I know you are desperate, but posting the same post in multiple places will not get you a response any faster, you will just p*ss people off and you will be ignored. No one cares how urgent it is for you - that is not our problem. Pick ONE thread to leave your post and delete the other posts. It will be seen and someone will respond if they have anything useful. Cheers and Regards

#2 @bhplt Love it, Love it, LOVE IT! Cheers and Regards

Sorry you are having a bad day Larry. No offense was meant. From our working together I should have known not to add an unasked for addition to your workload for a project that I wasn't a part of. My additional suggestion above has been struck as a result. Still friends? But the real reason for that post was not to add work on you, but to clarify my understanding of (2), which you agree that jaclaz did not approve of your interpretation. I believe that your description of (2) in your last post, #430, is not correct. If you would please take a calming breath then reread my interpretation, I think you will understand. And it will actually end up being less work than you have currently outlined in #430 since you will be able to skip this part - Then L demonstrates that he's doing something sarcatic, naughty, snappy, provoking, catty etc. *in the direction* of the right side of the stage. - since jaclaz has repeatedly stated that is not necessary. That's all I have to say. I'll let you and jaclaz determine the best way for the two of you to proceed. Cheers and Regards

Larry, you must not have been reading jaclaz's posts over as many years as many of us have. (Like dencorso, I have been known to jump in where I'm not wanted, but I'm VERY confident that jaclaz will set me painfully straight if necessary.) Maybe a way to think of (1) and (2 - 7) are as parts II and III respectively of a 3 act play. Act I - Another member either: --- asks a question with a ridiculously obvious answer --- asks a question that has been already answered, typically in the same thread --- poses a situation which is impossible or extremely unlikely --- breaks or bends a board rule, or a rule of common decency --- answers a question using any of the above faults --- or does anything else to insult, tease, antagonize, or aggravate poor jaclaz Act II - jaclaz responds verbally with something sarcatic, naughty, snappy, provoking, catty etc. to the other member's statement --- this is (1) above, so even though it is out of frame from the .gif, it will usually appear visually right next to it so it will be very obvious to anyone reading jaclaz's response that they go together, completing the play --- this is in the same manner such as someone posting a mild insult immediately followed by (j/k) Act III - the .gif --- this fulfills (2 - 7) showing that jaclaz knows that he just said something to provoke the other member and expects, and probably deserves, a response, but he was at least mostly kidding --- it is therefor not necessary in the .gif that L 'demonstrates that he's doing something sarcatic, naughty, snappy, provoking, catty etc. *in the direction* of the right side of the stage' and the .gif can open directly with L looking 'innocent/indifferent/detached by whistling as if he didn't do anything unseemly at all'. I hope that makes sense. EDIT: And of course, now that I've joined the conversation... I think it would be neat to modify 7 just a little such as: 7. L renters the arena moving upward (i.e., the opposite of how he ducked out of the picture) -- (tentatively at first, and looking around, because he doesn't know if R is going to throw another brick). He then looks at the "audience" with an expression of (wide-eyed blinking innocence, confusion, who me?, why did he do that?) then winking at the "audience" (admitting he knows darn well why that brick was thrown). Then, when he's sure another brick isn't on its way, he has a large smile on his face and ... etc That is strictly my 2 cents, and of course this is being made for jaclaz so his opinion is the one that counts. We now return you to your regularly scheduled program. -- I should have kept my big mouth shut. LOL

To tell Windows Explorer to apply your settings to all other folders of that type, in Windows Explorer: Add/Arrange columns and window size and shape as desired, then click Tools -> Folder Options -> View -> Set all options you want in "Advanced Settings" and "Apply" if any changes were made -> "Apply to Folders" under "Folder Views" -> OK (Also click OK to any popup that occurs saying something like "Settings will be applied the next time you open Windows Explorer".) That should do it. Cheers and Regards

From talking to LC earlier, he mentioned that he thought he remembered someone said that there were some incompatibilities/conflicts between SP3 and the Plus! pack. Can anyone confirm or refute that? If there are problems, what needs to be fixed in order to be able to use both? As I said to him, I would think that the combination of the Microsoft Plus! Pack along with SP3 and 98SE2ME from MDGx would make the "Ultimate " version of 98. No? I guess to go "further" would require adding files from RLowe and maybe even the KernelEx api compatibility layer, but I was thinking about the "basic" Ultimate version. [And no, I am not trying to start any kind of flame war with folks who think that the best version of 98 is a stripped and minimalized version. I agree that there are circumstances where that is absolutely the best approach.] Cheers and Regards

Well, here's an attempt. I'm not completely happy with it, but maybe someone else can provide some assistance. In the folder UNART are three files: ARTWORK1.GIF - "Microsoft" is removed ARTWORK2.GIF - "Unofficial" is put in its place ARTWORK.AVI - AVI made from ARTWORK2.GIF Procedure: 1) Loaded the 3.0 AVI file, (see post from PROBLEMCHYLD above) in VirtualDub 1.9, and saved it as an animated GIF file. 2) Loaded the GIF file in GIMP Portable 2.8.0, removed "Microsoft", and saved it as ARTWORK1.GIF. 3) Loaded ARTWORK1.GIF in Irfanview 4.33, added "Unofficial" using the Font Arial Narrow Bold Size 14, and saved it as ARTWORK2.GIF. -- I had to use Irfanview because Gimp didn't have access to Arial Narrow Bold even though it was a recognized installed system file, but Irfanview did.. 4) Loaded ARTWORK2.GIF in VirtualDub 1.9, and saved it as ARTWORK.AVI. The "Unofficial" text is about the right size and letter spacing, but if you enlarge the image enough you will see the letters are too angular and not smooth and rounded like the other text in the image. If anyone can recommend a better text to use I can give it another try, or they try it them selves using ARTWORK1.GIF as a source. http://www.mediafire.com/?7ecm5nvqy0hm3d0 Cheers and Regards

If you'll send me a link to the file you want to modify, from MS to Unofficial, I'll see what I can do. I think I have the tools to remove the existing text and the necessary fonts to replace it if I can figure out the font size to use, at least to be "good enough". Cheers and Regards

He's more than welcome to it. With all he has done for the community it's the least I can give back. Since it's your doing that got me to do it, it's also perfectly fine with me that the submission to him come from you. Cheers and Regards

Try me. Provide all existing LOGOS you can that have the text and don't have the text and I'll see what I can do. EDIT: I had actually first thought about cutting and pasting the "Second Edition" text from LOGO1.BMP over to LOGO2.BMP until I realized that the bottom strip was more indicative of the shutting down procedure, so your idea might well be possible. Cheers and Regards
-
LOL Thanks, but I'm not that good. I just took the two LOGOS that PROBLEMCHYLD already did over a year ago - LOGOS - He asked me: So I used GIMP Portable, a free app available here - http://portableapps.com/apps/graphics_pictures/gimp_portable - and did a cut-and-paste of the text Windows is shutting down. I exported the new image, GIMP's version of "save as", to LOGO3.BMP, and that was it. So there was no choosing the Font or letter height/spacing or anything. The background was such that the paste didn't show. (I'm lazy, so I took the easiest way out. ) I appreciate the kind words though. If you have a similar simple request I'd be glad to give it a shot, but no promises. I'm no larryb123456 after all. Send me a PM if you like, to not clutter up PROBLEMCHYLD's thread.

Both of my wife's last two laptops, HP and Dell, did not disable the touchpad when another, USB, mouse was plugged in. Both input devices were enabled unless the touchpad was explicitly disabled. Cheers and Regards -

Thank you for this and all your help, hard work, WPI, and friendship over the years. Happy Holidays to you as well. I hope each year gets a little easier. Cheers and Regards my friend -

Directly connect two machines via phone cable?
bphlpt replied to tgp1994's topic in Networks and the Internet
Google and look up "null modem". It is essentially one piece of what you are talking about. Connecting two computers directly through their modem connections, typically RS232. The two computers will then be able to communicate with each other, but to share an internet connection is a whole different problem that I don't know if you will be able to solve. Cheers and Regards -
Where did you look? If you click the "members" link at the top of this page, and enter cluberti in the members search box, his is the only name that come up. You can get the same results by entering cluberti in the search box at the top of this page and select "members" in the drop down right half of the same search box before you click the magnifying glass "search" button. (You not being able to find that does not make your search skills look very good. ) Try it and make sure you are able to do such simple searches. Confirm that you are able to come up with the location of his profile page - http://www.msfn.org/board/user/311-cluberti/ Hopefully you will be able to find the "Send me a message" link under his avatar. SRWare Iron is what I have been using for the last couple of years now. Very happy with it. Cheers and Regards

I would try changing your paths to eliminate spaces and special characters ( like ~ and = and . and , ) and see if that makes any difference. You should be able to make them just as readable by using Capitalization and - and _ characters. It might not make any difference at all, but why ask for potential trouble? Shorter paths are usually preferable in many situations, not just when doing a build, so I would also do what you can to shorten things. Cheers and Regards
-
So if he wanted to use cleanup on a build that had any operations still pending he would have to install the build in Audit mode, do the cleanup on that, then recapture the image? I might have the order of things wrong there, I've never done it before. Please don't quote me on this - I could be totally confused. Cheers and Regards

Is there a tutorial available anywhere where this is explained in more detail? Cheers and Regards

AFAIK, it is very dependent on the actual app you are making an addon for. Which apps are you needing to do this for? Cheers and Regards

You could also send him a PM, referencing this thread, in a day or so in case he missed your posts. (Send only one - do not bug any member unnecessarily or you risk being banned, besides, it's just not polite. ) Cheers and Regards
