  1. DO *NOT* MULTIPLE POST! You're suspended from posting for 24h to reflect upon this.
  2. Localized versions shouldn't be mixed. That's why they're localized.
  3. Threads merged.
  4. Well, if your machines have SATA connectors, the intel Application Accelerator driver should have you covered, since you have intel chipsets in both of them.
  5. Moreover, when the subject of your question is Win 9x/ME, you ought to seach *this forum* and its subforum first, using the forum's search engine, before turning to Google. The info on Win 9x/ME out on the whole internet is too scanty, and then also interspersed with lots of misinformation, for you to get meaningful results fast. In any case, what's the chipset and southbridge on the motherboard you intend to put SATA on? With that info I can give you a more specific reply. Use CPU-Z to find out the motherboard info and its chipset info.
  6. Then again, leaders cannot thrive, because there *is* *one* caudillo: Commander Guillermo Armadillo!
  7. Gary Moore - Still got the Blues (For You) He died this Feb. 6. May he RIP.
  8. Also lobbyists and smooth operators and berry peddlers aplenty, commixing with the masses.
  9. MDGx's SFC_OSFX to disable WFP (without any reinstall). Replacer to replace files with computer running. For both, a reboot is required. They just work.
  10. I have a dual-boot system with Win XP SP3 and Win 98SE. I have set-up my XP to run on FAT-32, and I'm very happy with it. This way I can use 98SE to give XP maintenance and vice-versa, and both OSes see all partitions, without need to add any additional software to make 98SE capable of using NTFS. My advice is: stick to FAT-32. Most will disagree with me, and say it preempts part of XP security, that was built on top of NTFS. True. Then again, I didn't want that added security in the first place. YMMV, of course. BTW, cannie's tutorial, over on the 9x forum, is a very interesting thread for anyone interested in dual-boot machines... it should be of interest for you, at this point.
  11. Both WinRAR and 7-Zip can do that. Read their respective documentation carefully. SFX installer is the keyword.
  12. SETUPSLT.EXE is an SFX Installer, which can be opened with WinRAR or 7-Zip. It contains PEDCAB1.INF, which runs REGSVR32.EXE. I'd say you should modify PEDCAB1.INF, and then recompile the SFX Installer...
  13. Yeah, I know... That's why I try to keep to English software as much as I can. But since my friend's work depends on the language, things get complicated. Yet, I've just been to nuance's site and found out they have just released a new Spanish version, so I contacted them about any plans for Portuguese, or even a beta-test, if there is one. But it seems they only operate on office hours, so I don't expect hearing from them before next Monday. Even an early beta might be worth considering, for my friend's condition is getting worse all the time, so anything that helps reduce his dependency on typing is worth a shot. MS software would be welcome as a solution, too, but I doubt Portuguese is very high on the to-do list, at present, for them. In any case, Brazil is a reasonably big market, too, so eventually both will turn their eyes to it, so there's some space for hope.
  14. Even so, their work usually stalls, because of too many office meetings for planning and follow-up.
  15. Thanks a lot for your prompt reply! jaclaz, the finder, you do rock!
  16. It's not for me, but for a writer friend of mine. So the software in question will be used mostly for text processing and also for operating the system without typing. Hence, a low word-recogniton error rate is fundamental. It's not important that it be able to recognize any voice other than that of the main user, since it'll be used in a single user machine. It may be free or for pay. And it should be able to work both in Portuguese and in English (and this, I fear, may be the requirement most difficult to meet). Please do chime in.
  17. No ice, but slurpee galore!
  18. And there's Dr. Pepper all around, but not a single drop of Coca-Cola (nor Pepsi, but that really is no loss).
  19. No. It's too thick and too easily bent. A pin or a sewing needle, being tempered steel, is much better. And either have a much finer point. Pins are very easy to find. I always get some for free, with each new shirt I buy. This one would be perfect, but many others here also would do fine. It should measure 28-32 mm after removing the head (if a pin) or the eye (if a needle) with you favorite garden variety cutting pliers.
  20. Does Drive 3 really exist? And, if so, which maker and model is it? I'm getting confused... Please do identify your motherboard and the SATA card in more detail, too. You may be facing a problem with the BIOS (firmware) of the SATA card.
  21. And swarms of bees... even so, there is no honey, but you can find sweets everywhere! Moreover, there's plenty of grasshoppers, but not a single locust.
  22. And there are alligators, but no crocodiles.
  23. And moose galore, but not a single elk!
