  3. Here's the best way to get what you want: click.
  4. Could always format and do an install using an official Windows XP cd. That should resolve all your problems. Also check and see if your applications have updates for SP3. Though they should work just fine, even in compat mode. Since this is most likely caused by nLite, moving to the correct forum.
  5. At this point in time I'd say format and reinstall using an official Windows XP cd.
  6. I always do a convert /fs:ntfs on my flash drives. Better overall in the long run.
  7. I've heard running this program from Symantec is supposed to help.
  8. If you want to check for an infection, please download my Anti-Malware Toolkit and get the Professional package. Then follow the directions in the PC Cleanup guide. After that, please post a HijackThis log.

If you boot into Safe Mode, what happens?
  14. And the hosts file can very easily be compromised, quite often I've seen it replaced with a malicious hosts file. It offers zero security and is not meant to be used for protection.
  15. That is correct. Each item listed has a detailed explanation as to why you should not apply a check to those.
  16. I believe common sense would fall under tech mind. Then again after reading your post I'd question how much of it is common sense and how much of it is falling into the urban myths. I say this because of "relying" on such things as host files for malware blocking and disabling services.
  17. Please download my Anti-Malware Toolkit and get the Professional package. Then follow the directions in the PC Cleanup guide. After that, please repost a HijackThis log.
  18. For me, I rely on my tech mind and my Anti-Malware Toolkit. If I've left anything off the list let me know and I'll add it. Also, if you want to vote for the item you want added wait to vote until I or another mod adds the item to the poll. It makes it easier for us to update the poll list.
  19. Lol yeah, these kind of worthless programs love to get an early start. Next there will be a service "tweaker".
  20. Had to clean up a few posts in here so this is a friendly reminder to all who participate: I wouldn't put any trust or faith into ClamWin simply because the detection rates are unfortunately very poor. You can check out av-comparatives for possible alternatives to avast 4.8 when 9x/Me support ends.
  21. Version 1.07.169 has been released. Changes: [Added] Windows 7 detection implemented. [Fixed] Resolved bug where Event Viewer, Device Manager and Services were disabled. [Fixed] Corrected minor issues with the GUI. Download: Lunarsoft Link: Digg This! Merry Christmas to all, and to all a malware-free computer!
  22. I guess you didn't try the BB Code help? http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?s=&amp...amp;CODE=bbcode
  23. It's okay, just post one when you get the change. It's the holidays after all. You may also want to switch your DNS to OpenDNS.
