Sure, there aren't any major viruses going around on Mac/*nix; but that's because people with virus programming skill are usually in it for the money. And if they're in it for the money that means they're too skilled to waste their time on 1% of 1% of the computing population. If someone is that skilled it may very well be embarrassing to them to some degree.

I'd run XP with a minimum of 512MB RAM. You'll notice a huge change.

I think the best idea would be to update the OS to something more modern and secure like XP or Vista, than to keep running on the 9x kernel.

Did SUPERAntiSpyware or Malwarebytes find anything? You log appears clean. Your Firefox may not be starting due to an addon. Try starting it in safe mode through the start menu, or by adding -safe-mode to the shortcut.

Rename HijackThis to scanner.exe and check again, reposting your log.
