  2. I don't know what I am supposed to do with this. Some of it, I know what it is and some not. There is the hpoddt01.exe.lnk that definately looks suspicious now that I have had a look at the log from Filemon.DL Those are items to check off in HijackThis and then click Fix.

  4. Sounds exactly like what happened to me a few years ago. It turned out to be a bad hard drive.
  5. Anyone here play this?
  6. There is a way, just have to get the details. >.> For a universal XP Pro, being OEM... 76487 : XP Pro Royalty OEM*** ***: Royalty OEM means manufacturers that are special to Microsoft's endearing heart. They get their own private key and generated product keys that only work with these special versions of Windows, which are not for sale. Certain big OEMs [Dell, Gateway, HP, Compaq, and more] are Royalty OEMs, and the little guys (your local mom + pop store) are obviously not. The mom + pop stores get 55277 for Home and 55285 for Pro. 7. Since you had CWS, you should run CWShredder as well. Update MSAS, Ad-Aware, Spybot, and ewido defs to ensure you can nail everything. I don't like what epic said. epic dude, please leave this to the pros. O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [POINTER] point32.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [intelliType] "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Hardware\Keyboard\type32.exe" Those are not suspicious. Point32.exe is for the Microsoft Mouse, it's part of the software. Though it's not needed, it's not suspicious. Intellitype is for the MS keyboard. About point32: Microsoft Intellipoint software for their Intellimouse series of mice - required if you use non-standard Windows driver features About Intellitype: For MS programmable keyboards. If you disable Intellitype in Startup, any "Hot Keys" that are changed by the user to perform functions other than default settings, defer back to their default settings unless you have changed them. While Avast and AVG are good for free antivirus programs. Avast is better, but there's one far superior. eTrust EZ AntiVirus which is free for a year to Microsoft SP2 customers. You also have two antivirus programs running on the computer (AVG and Kaspersky). If you like you can switch to eTrust, or simply update and continue using Kaspersky. Here's an analysis of your HijackThis log. After this, run the scans recommended above and then post a new log. Generated by Tarun's HijackThis Converter v0.50 Beta. 8. Give Dial-a-fix a try. When in doubt, check'em all!
  9. Even more: http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.ph...page=15&start=0 This is also a great comment on the Nano page.
  10. Firefox Myths? Says it all, quite nicely. Even more about it can be found here.
  11. Nah, wasn't flaming. He spams this junk on forums everywhere. :\ Firefox needs more RAM, etc because it supports tabbed browsing. Just the same as running multiple IE windows. -- No actual difference there; at least Firefox is more upfront and honest. Web browsing, Firefox is a lot faster with IE; even moreso after tweaking it. The only time I've ever had Firefox become slow is loading it the first time. I've never gotten spyware from Firefox. Ever. Doesn't matter what browser you use, you can download spyware. But Firefox doesn't pop up with false adverts and things like ActiveX asking to install malicious applications. If it ever does ask, it's very clear. The "Feature Myths" are hype created by the overzealous fanboys.
  12. Dial-a-fix is a collection of "known fixes" that DjLizard has created over the past year that really knock out some serious Windows problems, all with one or two clicks. "When in doubt, check em all..." Most of the fixes are found in Microsoft Knowledgebase articles. When you see a list of DLLs that Microsoft is telling you to use REGSVR32 on, chances are they are already included in Dial-a-fix. You can figure out what most checkboxes do by hovering over them with your mouse. The tooltip describes what is going on (usually in command-line terminology). Please note that by itself, Dial-a-fix can pose no harm to your system, even if your system is working properly. All this program does, in a nutshell, is: stop services, install selected software, register DLLs, restart services, and remove rogue policies. This program is a must have for any tech out there. Download: Dial-a-fix Screenshot: Dial-a-fix Source: Lunarsoft Dial-a-fix changes for 12/16/05 - Added new shell DLL registrations: sendmail.dll, shimgvw.dll, themeui.dll, netplwiz.dll, remotepg.dll, netman.dll, netcfgx.dll, and hnetcfg.dll Added a WMI/WBEM/WinMgmt flush button Added a Winsock/firewall fix button Now moves the "More..." window to an appropriate location, given your screen resolution "Check all" button (double green checkmark) opens the "More..." window Added "ie4uninit.exe" to the shell DLL registration section (restores certain shell objects such as the quick launch toolbar) Added a Help and Support Service fix button Added 'sc config start= auto' to several sections Updated several tooltips
  13. Did you try Tools > Options > Content Make sure under Advanced... there's a checkmark. Mess around with the settings, see if it helps.
  14. This is a closed Microsoft Beta, you can only use it if you've gotten an invitation.
  15. Can you stop posting this crap please?
  16. Obi-Wan. Because Neo outside of the Matrix was very weak.
  17. atomizer, it's a thing called common sense.
  18. So THAT's what happens when they let the dogs out.
  19. Put a bookmark in the bookmark toolbar and the issue will stop. Edit: If your bookmark toolbar is empty, it jitters up and down. Put one bookmark in there and it stops.
  20. Sounds to me like you've got adware. Microsoft AntiSpyware, AdAware, and Spybot turned up no results? Have you updated them to the most recent defs? Another item to try is ewido. Also please post a HijackThis log to get your system cleaned.
  21. Post a HijackThis log. Also, check out eTrust Antivirus which is free for a year. Another application to run would be ewido as it can also find and detect viruses, spyware, adware, worms, trojans and much more.
  22. No. - The only questions that I answer about cracks, keygens, etc. are for when people ask me what they are, what they do, things of that nature. That I will answer. If they ask about where to get such items, they get a post of the rules (and I'll lock the thread if I'm a mod). No. - See above. I don't care. - It doesn't matter if there's a rating system for it or not. Moderators often make the best decisions and know what the rules are in general.
  23. Get Firetune and optimize your Firefox. Next, go to about:config and enter this entry: browser.cache.memory.capacity - 16384
  24. Minor graphic issue with polls and inbox. The bar.gif file hangs below the bar left and bar right by one pixel. So I suppose that it needs to be a 1x7 gif image.
  25. 5.12 with Control Panel
