Hi tubui, you may wish to refer to this thread. Your pc sounds like it has some heavy infections and you'll need several malware cleaners and Dial-a-fix to cure everything.

I recently tried to switch, but I'm sticking with Firefox. Opera may have that 100% compliance going on, but Firefox has far more to offer. A few options and extensions that I readily use often have nothing close to similar in Opera yet.
-
Indeed it is. This thread is discussing pagefile settings for Windows XP.
-
After 1024MB (1GB) of RAM though, you don't need a paging file anymore, at all, ever, period, (unless you're doing some professional work with high resolution images or movie editing or something) and you can safely ignore all warnings about the paging file (like Photoshop, etc). Set both options (minimum size and maximum size) to the same value for added performance -- with a static setting, Windows won't ever have to resize the paging file, it'll be the same size all the time. Also, try to stay within powers of two. For 512MB of RAM, 1024MB is great! If you want to do 1.5x rule as described above, then that'd be 768MB. I recommend 1024MB though.

It also used to be 100% free, but now they charge you shipping just to get it.

Concept: I'm working on updating many pages on my website and I've been looking for a way to update certain parts of every file by using a type of database file. What I've been thinking of is basically have a page that is like... Settings for SpywareBlaster <?php echo $spywareblast; ?> ...and the <?php echo $spywareblast; ?> is automatically called from the intro line of the php file where it'd have "include_once ("/work/data.php")" or whatever. Purpose: This will basically allow me to update version numbers and other information in one file only, while not needing to mess with the other pages. I don't even know if this can be done, but I sure would love to try. I currently have some pages with simply text and no graphics. I'd like to offer another version to allow more detailed information. There'd be roughly 10 pages or so, and updating each one manually would be a pain. I thought about using a MySQL database, but I know absolutely nothing about MySQL and figured this would be a bit safer.

Opera lets you surf the Internet in a safer, faster, and easier way. One of the most full-featured Internet power tools on the market, it includes pop-up blocking, tabbed browsing, integrated searches, and advanced functions like Opera's groundbreaking E-mail program, RSS Newsfeeds and IRC chat. You can customize the look and content of your browser with a few clicks of the mouse. Download: Opera 9.01 Build 8505 Beta (6.13MB, *.exe) Source: Lunarsoft.net

Most cases where this is present it is normal. tal, what are all of the scans that you ran on your system?
-
The rule of thumb is to take your RAM and times it by 1.5 I have 2GB of RAM and have my pagefile set to 512/512MB (Min/Max). It's plenty for me when I use Photoshop or game.

Perhaps in the future, but as for now it's still beta and undergoing private testing. I would love to see a replacement to HijackThis. It's so old and outdated, plus Merijn never updates it anymore.

ZoneAlarm Glitches hit Eudora, McAfee users. Sorry but I personally cannot stand ZoneAlarm. I used it back when it first came out (Until Pro v3.0) and it just kept getting worse and worse. It was an extensive resource hog, caused pages to load slowly and caused more problems than what it was worth. After that, I switched to Outpost Pro and was amazed at how much more control I had with that firewall as opposed to ZAP and the incredible flexibility.

Unpinned thread as there were numerous out of date application links since the thread is over a year old. Also unlocked so the original poster can return to edit and update the links if he so desires.

It's a program I wrote a long time ago. I basically copy the entire HijackThis log and then enter it into my Converter. I then manually look through the code (Until I can make a working whitelist) and flag what is malicious, what is safe to remove as it's not needed, and what stays. Link to screenshot. I may release it to the public in the near future though.

Microsoft Anti-Spyware has been discontinued and is no longer available. Windows Defender is the replacement application. Since you already have that then you're up to date.
