  1. What I'm wondering about, is the VMAdditions.
  2. If I'm reading this right. MSVPC is now totally free?
  3. Seems to be working now.
  4. Tried to ping the server and everything, but nothing happened. Any word?
  5. I recommend Avast and know of many PC Techs who do the same.
  6. I agree with what the others have said, those neon colors on the frontpage are painful on the eyes. I'd avoid MKPortal truthfully. It's way too full of bugs and they don't even understand copyrights or licenses.
  7. Navigate to the registry key that is in the path from the screenshot.
  8. CCleaner doesn't support Unicode. You'll have to go into the registry yourself to delete those (Start > Run > regedit). It's probably a corrupted key. Also, it won't look like a few question marks and a square when you get in there, so look carefully. CCleaner can't take you there, because again, it doesn't support Unicode (and it thus cannot read the entries correctly). The entries do exist, but CCleaner can't properly display them - the NT 5 registry is fully Unicode but supports most non-Unicode functions. So, CCleaner is able to see that something is there, but it can't display it properly - instead it splits the Unicode into two separate bytes, and displays ASCII, question marks, or boxes, to replace the characters with a value higher than 255. It also looks like it may have been associated with malware, since it's missing.
  9. www.avast.com
  10. Do your popups occur only while surfing the net, or do they also happen when you're on your desktop?
  11. Actually changed mine some.
  12. I play CS 1.6 and sometimes America's Army. Though after they changed it so you pretty much fly back every time you get shot, I quit playing.
  13. Please refer to this link and then post your HijackThis log.
  14. You can always try to post a HijackThis log, or refer to the Anti-Malware cleaning sticky at the top. Since you're on a Windows ME machine you'll want the Anti-Malware Lite package.
  15. You may wish to scan with Avast and post a HijackThis log here.
  16. Anytime, and glad to help. That's what we're here for.
  17. Recommended: Download Tweak UI for Windows XP. After installing, simply highlight "Taskbar and Start Menu", then in the right pane, uncheck "Enable balloon tips". Optional: You can also download XP AntiSpy which has the option to allow you to enable/disable them. Registry method: To turn off balloon tips in applications that support XP Themes: Start > Run > regedit Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced\ Create a DWORD value of EnableBalloonTips Give it a value of 0
  18. You simply wish to disable the balloon tooltips, or?
  19. Yes, it is far superior to McAfee. McAfee will result in several false positives; whereas I have only ONCE seen a false positive with Windows Defender.
  20. Be sure to use spellcheck though.
  21. tubui, let me know once you've scanned with the Anti-Malware Pro package.
  22. Try scanning with the here.
  23. Spyware Doctor returns far too many false positives. Spy Sweeper has also had issues in the past. :\
  24. Hi tubui, you may wish to refer to this thread. Your pc sounds like it has some heavy infections and you'll need several malware cleaners and Dial-a-fix to cure everything.
