Actually, if you're copying files from a NTFS to FAT system it's extremely slow. However if you're copying from NTFS to NTFS it's extremely fast. Try it sometime with a flash drive.

You could always use c't Offline Updater to create and deploy a cd/dvd to update the machines in your office. They definitely need to be updated.
