http://www.911cd.net/forums//index.php?showtopic=23931 - 7pe contains Recovery software in folder sources which is missing in pe3 - pe3 option NO Reduce of size has /Enable-profiling which allows to make Optimization profile (see WinPE.chm help in WAIK) Using WAIK has advantage that oscdimg.exe can be used instead of mkisofs.exe oscdimg.exe makes smaller and unfragmented ISO

Lenovo Y410 not booting with Bootable USB
wimb replied to vihara's topic in Install Windows from USB
Try to use BOOT_USB.exe to Format Stick with NTFS FileSystem and have the CHS Knockout Patches applied which are probably needed in your case. http://www.911cd.net/forums//index.php?showtopic=24424 http://reboot.pro/5306/page__st__215 -
1. Use Make_PE3.exe to prepare 7pe_x86_E.iso (Explorer version of 7 PE) - http://www.911cd.net/forums//index.php?showtopic=23931 2. Use BOOT_USB.exe to prepare USB-stick bootable with 7 PE - http://www.911cd.net/forums//index.php?showtopic=24424 (Select stick as Target Drive and use Format Stick with NTFS and Select your 7 PE ISO and press GO) 3. Boot from USB-stick and do anything you need e.g. Install XP from USB by using WinNTSetup2_x86.exe and XP Setup ISO file in Virtual drive Even better is to use Portable USB-harddisk e.g. Samsung S2
-
The Not ready ... message might be a bit confusing, but simply means there is more to be done. It means you have to Select your XP Setup source and then it turns to Ready and you can press GO
-
Yes you can Win 8 Setup ISO was mounted via R-mouse in ImDisk Virtual drive and then WinNTSetup was used to prepare the Target drive. Reboot and then Install of Windows 8 is extremely fast (a few minutes).

================================================================================ There is a better and more reliable approach available: Install of XP or Windows 7 from USB After Booting with 7 PE and by using WinNTSetup2_x86.exe and Setup ISO file in Virtual drive 0. Use BOOT_USB.exe to prepare USB or HDD drive for booting with Grub4dos Menu and using 7 PE Boot Image file - Info BOOT_USB - http://www.911cd.net/forums//index.php?showtopic=24424 - Info Make_PE3 - http://www.911cd.net/forums//index.php?showtopic=23931 1. Boot from USB or HDD with 7 PE loaded in RAMDISK - use Grub4dos Boot Menu and 7pe_x86_E.iso Boot Image file 2. Use R-mouse to Mount Windows Setup ISO in ImDisk virtual drive - If needed first Install ImDisk driver by running imdiskinst.exe (also available in makebt folder) 3. Quick Format TargetDrive - use NTFS FileSystem 4. Run WinNTSetup2_x86.exe and prepare Target drive for Install of XP or Windows 7 Thanks to JFX - http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/149612-winntsetup-v2/ 5. Reboot from Target Drive and Install XP or Windows 7 Instead of 7 PE you can use any other way of booting that allows you to Format and prepare your Target Drive. You might decide e.g. to boot with Portable Windows XP IMG or with Windows 7 VHD from USB In any case you can use WinNTSetup2_x86.exe to prepare your Target drive for Install of XP or Windows 7 See Tutorial file XP-W7-Setup.txt in IMG_XP\Help_Info folder Info IMG_XP - http://www.911cd.net/forums//index.php?showtopic=23553 Download - End of Support The advantage is that you never boot from USB during XP Setup and that makes everything much more reliable and you have full control of what you are doing. Also using a single XP Setup ISO file mounted in ImDisk Virtual drive is much more reliable than having a bunch of XP Setup files on USB. Transfer of the ISO file to USB is much faster and easier to maintain. Instead of USB-stick it is much better to use Portable 2.5 inch USB-harddisk e.g. Samsung S2 As easy to carry and connect, but much higher speed and more capacity. ================================================================================

How to install Windows from USB- WinSetupFromUSB with GUI
wimb replied to ilko_t's topic in Install Windows from USB
You can use BOOT_USB.exe to format USB-stick with NTFS filesystem. Instead of USB-stick, it is much better to use Portable 2.5 inch USB harddisk e.g. Samsung S2 In that case the speed is much higher and the larger capacity (e.g. 500 GB) is useful for your purpose. Besides, then you can use normal windows OS to partition and format such USB disk, and you can use BOOT_USB.exe to prepare USB drive for booting with Grub4dos Menu and using Boot Image file. You have enough space for all your Windows Setup ISO files and can make it bootable with all other IMG or VHD files. -
How to install Windows from USB- WinSetupFromUSB with GUI
wimb replied to ilko_t's topic in Install Windows from USB
You can also try to use the procedure described here http://www.911cd.net/forums//index.php?showtopic=24424 http://www.911cd.net/forums//index.php?showtopic=23931 http://www.911cd.net/forums//index.php?showtopic=23553 In that case: - First use BOOT_USB.exe to prepare USB drive for booting with Grub4dos Menu and using Boot Image file - After booting with PE or Portable XP from USB, you can use R-mouse to Mount Windows Setup ISO in ImDisk virtual drive - Then use WinNTSetup2_x86.exe to prepare your Target drive for Install of XP or Windows 7 - Reboot from Target drive and Install XP or Windows 7 -
These are NOT Errors but WARNINGS. It has to do with the way you have made your USB-stick bootable. May be just everything is OK e.g. if your stick has Grub4dos MBR bootcode Anyway, the program only warned you that Windows MBR bootcode was not found. Did you try to boot from USB with your 7pe_x86_M.iso ?

Then use R-mouse to copy the link from my post (your quote link is wrong and has ......) and put as address (outside MSFN) in your browser ..... For me it is working, it is a direct download link. Otherwise wait few days, next week I will add it to IMG_XP package .... http://www.911cd.net/forums//index.php?showtopic=23553

Hallo StarRyder,
Most info on 7 PE is here
http://www.911cd.net/forums//index.php?showtopic=23931

USB_MultiBoot.cmd does not run well for second partition!
wimb replied to hulkbuster's topic in Install Windows from USB
- Is the second partition a Primary Partition or is it a Logical Drive of an Extended Partition ? You need a Primary Partition for Install of XP. You need to investigate the harddisk on which you try to Install XP by booting first from grub4dos menu with PE (LiveXP or 7PE) or with PartedMagic. Then you can inspect your harddisk with e.g. Disk Management and see what is causing your trouble. Also use Windows Explorer to see where XP Setup TXT mode has made the WINDOWS folder and has copied the files. http://www.911cd.net/forums//index.php?showtopic=24424 http://www.911cd.net/forums//index.php?showtopic=23931 http://www.911cd.net/forums//index.php?showtopic=21883 - How did you prepare your XP Setup Source ? It might be that you are missing a needed MassStorage driver. Read Section 2 in http://www.911cd.net/forums//index.php?showtopic=21883 -
USB_MultiBoot.cmd does not run well for second partition!
wimb replied to hulkbuster's topic in Install Windows from USB
For Install on second partition you need to use a modified boot.ini on your USB-stick, so that you can choose "Continue GUI Setup + Start XP from HD 1 - Part 2" http://www.911cd.net/forums//index.php?showtopic=22857 -
Nice to hear it works for you We had here similar problem with one of the computers and solved it by in BIOS to Disable Floppydisk Drive.
-
Try in BIOS to Disable Floppydisk Drive.
-
This by itself is simply possible. Try to use BOOT_USB.exe to add such option to your existing bootmgr Menu. If it works in PXE ? I have no experience with PXE. May be someone else can tell you. May be this is also interesting http://sites.google.com/site/rmprepusb/tutorials/pxe
-
The Grub4dos file grldr can be used as a Preboot eXecution Environment (PXE) boot file. More info here http://diddy.boot-land.net/grub4dos/files/pxe.htm

BOOT_USB.exe has option Add G4d to Win7 Menu Select your Target Drive which has Boot folder and bootmgr and Then Select above option. In Win7 OS you need to have User Account Control off. More Info http://www.911cd.net/forums//index.php?showtopic=24424 However, if you want to use a WinPE Boot Image file then you don't need to select above option, but may simply Select that image file and your Target Drive and with GO your Grub4dos Menu and G4d entry in BootMgr Menu is made. It works also on Non USB-drives e.g. the OS bootdrive of your fixed harddisk.
