  1. ive just checked it says copying 1,417 but on properties it says 1,415 too
  2. ye aslong as its the same architecture as urs x64 or x86 that be fine, meanwhile im going to install vista on a VM and make a back up or the drivers (makes a copy of the driver which just the files it needs) so it would be alot smaller than 309MB and upload it, so it will work im just doing a vlite where everything (literally) except canon printer driver left so it will install quicker, is yours 64bit or 32bit??? wish me luck
  3. them two files is what you prob need lol, eeek

    xp install

SFC is on the tweaks page where you select if you want to enabled unsigned themes, Mouse Polling settings. SFC stands for System File Check (correct me if im wrong) and it just checks to make sure you havent deleted/modified any important files and if you do then it replaces it with a backup

    Quick Question

just that removing NETLOGON is a big no no lol, DIAL UP n VPN is needed for windows firewall on x64
  6. hmmm, mines got 4 files in it and is 309MB too (1,417 items) shame you cant find out what file is missing, nuhi might be able to help
  7. make sure your in the correct folder i.e. \1\, \2\, or it theres just 1 folder then make sure you have copied prnca001.inf to the desktop, this should copy the AMD64 and the 5 files within it, on your printer i got rid of that error but got element not found error lol
  8. Please try check the manufactuer's website for the latest driver before using this method, this is incase you cannot find your drivers or want to use windows default, This will get any driver which you accidently deleted using vLite n if you have any problems please tell me PLEASE READ!!!! If you are getting a message saying "missing file *filename* then this guide can be used for you! Firstly special thx to the following members for Info & Suggestions, much appreciated Magic507 Ripken204 You will need... 7zip Fresh Vista source required! (or a source where you didnt remove the drivers you need) Firstly 7zip cannot modify the install.wim it can be used just to get what you need. How to open the WIM files Open 7zip goto "Tools" > "Options" and tick the wim box and click OK. This will allow you to easily open the wim files There is 4 parts: 1. Open the install.wim 2. Finding your Vista Version 3. Copying your Drivers 4. Installing the driver 1.Open install.wim with 7zip (located at VISTADVD\Sources\) 2. Finding your Vista Version Open up the the XML file look through this until you see the version you are using. for example if your looking for Vista Ultimate x86 look for <NAME>Windows Vista Ultimate x86</Name> and just above it is the "<IMAGE INDEX=*number*>" Files - For fixing "missing files" messages If you are missing a file and just drag and drop the file into the folder it needs to go for Example "wer.dll" Browse to \*number from above*\Windows\System32\wer.dll) and drag it into your windows system32 folder and then thats it Please note: you may have to change permissions to the folders. If you do then remember to change them back!(optional) Drivers 1. Copy your Drivers Browse to \*number from above*\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\) Lets say for example i wanted the Drivers for a Canon Printer, copy the prnca001.in_???? folder to WindowsDrive(default is C:)"\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository" (If you do not know what folder you need look below under requests or make a post with the hardware type & model You will need to change the permissions on the FileRepository Folder drag/copy to For security reasons please change the permissions back to default on the "FileRepository" Folder after the copy has completed 2. Installing the driver In control panel go to Add New hardware > Manual > Select Type of Device (not automatic) if that does not work then go to Show All devices, Have disk and browse to.. "*Windows Drive*\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\*folder you copied*" and then open the inf and select your driver from the list. NOTES its depends on the manufacturer and components (examples below) prn = printer mdm = modem net = network card Manufacturer examples hp = HP ca = CANON so = Sony ep = Epson So you if want epson printer drivers just copy prnep001.inf_?????? to your desktop prn = printer ep = epson 001 doesnt mean anything really The ???? is jsut random numbers and letters not all the drivers are so easy to find Requests for Driver Folder Location Printer, Cannon = prnca001.inf_???????? Printer, HP = prnhp001.inf_??????? Printer, Epson = prnep001.inf_?????? If you have any problem please tell me, in your post please write what version of windows i.e Windows Ultimate x86 and the windows file/driver you are looking for... Thanks

    Quick Question

i removed lots n i mean lots...( i had 53 components left) and it worked great, make sure that you dont need acomponent before you select it for removal do NOT remove"NETLOGON" though that causes alot of problems all languages are safe to remove, same with keyboard layouts (keep your own obviously lol) If you unsure about a component just ask, i always use the latest so 1.4b

    Quick Question

Nuhi cannot work on both vLite and nLite at the same time, he has just released a new version of vLite (today) and now has started working on nLite (mainly fixes) so it will take longer than a couple of days Liam
  11. You need. 7Zip x64 or 7zip x82 (32bit) Fresh Vista source (or a source where you didnt remove the drivers you need) 1.Open install.wim with 7zip (located at VISTADVD\Sources\) 2. Open up the xml file and it should say something like "Index=1" Vista Ultimate, which means you need to go to the \1\ Folder, just open up the xml until you find the correct vista you want and the number. For example: <IMAGE INDEX="1"><NAME>Windows Vista Ultimate (vLite) x64</NAME> Which means if i want Vista Ultimate x64 then i goto \1\ If Home Premium was Index="2" then you goto folder \2\ 3. Browse to \*number from above*\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\ then copy the needed folder to C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository 4. On control panel go to Add New hardware > Manual > Show All > Browse > (folder on your desktop) and there should be a inf file and select your printer in the list and click next NOTES ------------ its depends on the manufacturer and components for example components prn = printer mdm = modem net = network card 'There are more than this but there just examples, it like a shorter version of the fullname of device type' Manufacturer examples hp = HP ca = CANON so = Sony ep = Epson So you if want epson printer drivers just copy prnep001_?????? to your desktop Magic507: drag the prnca001.inf_??????? to your desktop ripken204: drag the prnhp001.inf_????? to your desktop The ???? is jsut random numbers and letters EDIT: i have created a guide here which has screenshots aswell hope this helps
  12. i sometimes make another vlite, exactly the same as before (but leaving the upgrade options and the newer component i want, in ur case the printer driver) and then do an upgrade. but thats a last resort
  13. for the IE7 fix, download the attachtment, extract it and run the vbs script. then restart your computer this will fix the Internet Options "Access Denied" Mesage. Can you please upload your preset, thanks Liam
  14. did you try automatic search of drivers as it checks the Windows Update website for it, normally works for me
  15. If you dont use the rebuild method and use option 1 and then it asks you which ones you want to delete
  16. yay was waiting for this, good work n have a good nite nuhi will be using it tomorrow
  17. RAID question dont matter then lol Preset is a file called Last_session.ini it shows everything you did in nLite and should be on the disk, it tells us what you removed etc... try another nLite session, get a fresh XP source and use that dont use the one you just made
  18. do you use RAID? oh and can you upload your preset P.S do you mean NTDLR or whatever try putting HD at top instead of Floppy and make sure you have the correct HD if it lets you chose Also check to see if you have a floppy in the floppy drive and remove it lol
  19. i always get the latest one before i use vlite n it still does it (x64 WDM Driver is the one i get) EDIT: Theres a different one on my Motherbaords manufacturers website, which is vista compatible too (onboard sound card) so there Microsoft, MSI Website n Realtek website all different versions. confusing which 1 to get lol so i normally go with realtek website
  20. I agree, i get about 30 popups during the install just from 1 driver (Realtek AC97)
  21. or atleast use edit, shame you dont have a chat room so users can get help from other users easier (keep the forum obviously but a link to a chat room)
  22. 1. when you turn on your computer you should see something like press ?? for boot menu (mines F11), sometimes you have to go into the BIOS (only use this as a last resort) and change the boot settings from there by making CD first boot then the Harddrive second. 2. since your important files are on a different HD you will not lose anything just the stuff on your windows drive.
