  1. oh yeah the guy all the way on the left amazes me
  2. reminds me of that classic picture from I guess beginning of 20th century with some 10+ skyscrape construction workers sitting in a similar way waay above NYC
  3. This speedtest is pretty slow for me, perhaps too many curious people But I got me symmetric 30mbit fiber connection at home yesterday and it shows like 2mbit
  4. Card went to RMA. But I am thinking about asking my money back and hold onto something better... But Auzen is based on Creative stuff which I will never ever touch again. Soo, I am not sure.
  5. I know about XPize and Vize, but is there any such thing that'd make Vista look (at least partially) like XP? There is the built-in classic theme, which kind of makes using the system a BIT more bearable, but the icons and other stuff - ugh! So, is there anything for the stubborn ones like me?
  6. And one would think stuff is tested before packing and sending to vendors... jeez
  7. I sure did. Well, is it possible to buy completely dead card? :-O
  8. How do I roll back to IDE by the way? AHCI is only giving me random BSOD so I want to get back to IDE without reinstalling. Thanks.
  9. Excuse me?
  10. ICH9R. The board is GigaByte EP35-DS4. I downloaded the latest driver from Intel.
  11. Well, I bought it anyway. It cost $100 which is a killer I believe. Auzentech is surely better, but at over twice the price! I only listen to mp3s, watch movies on stereo speakers and play some games. Hundred bucks is pretty much what I would invest anyway. I got a problem though (lol). The card doesn't work at all! It's PCI express type and needs additional power supply (standard FDD cable). Everything plugged in and nothing. It doesn't even show up in the BIOS pre-boot screen with various devices listing. I don't get it at all - even tried 3 other pci-e slots and different cables. Nothing. Anyone got any idea?
  12. Weird stuff happening! It works BUT I randomly get BSOD with message about iastor.sys or whatever the name of the driver is. I don't like it at all...
  13. I need some pointers if anyone knows. I managed to delete my old presets and when creating a new one, I forgot the important parts and now my stupid network doesn't work When I try to get an IP, I get error message speaking about unavailable RPC server. I know I ran into this one in past, but can't remember which component was causing it. Not a disabled service I think, it's something I removed. But hell if I know what it was... Anyone knows?
  14. I can only judge from trying Vista 64 ultimate or whatever the one step lower type is... And that is bad enough
  15. Allright, does anyone have this supposedly great card? I am just about to go buy it.. Is there anything I should reconsider before doing so? The only negative thing I read is something about lack of native Pci-e chip, which I don't quite understand... sound-wise it's supposed to be pretty much the best for the money it cost.
  16. lower CPU usage is alwaays good And I would say there should be SOME difference at least because of emulation and no emulation. will give it a shot anyway!

    Opinion

Different system, and much newer too. It will come in time.
  18. more bloatware i'd say
  19. Forgive me if there already is a suitable thread to post in - brief search didn't reveal any treasure I've got fairly simple question: Has anyone around here experienced any performance increase from running in AHCI mode? I mean, from what I've read here and there, it's mostly just subjective feeling of "faster", but has anyone really seen at least a little obvious increase? Second part of the question is CPU usage. Is it higher/lower/same as in IDE mode? I got me Samsung Spinpoint F1 (HD103UJ) disk several weeks ago and I was thinking... Thanks.
  20. I don't think it was without reason, the point is (from what he told me) no feedback when he tried to get some... Don't think it matters now as it's been quite a while and he probably gave up on registration and just browses the forums unregistered from time to time.
  21. Friend of mine (who also recommended these forums to me) told me he got banned some time ago and despite numerous attempts to get in touch with the mods/admins to possibly solve the situation, he never received a single word of response. While I can't comment on that partricular thing at all cause I don't know anything about it, I don't think the OP's idea is bad - at least people should know why...
  22. While I cannot provide any technical details about the differences, I can say I used to be a hippie for years until I moved onto Intel platform over a year ago and don't regret a single second of it
  23. Honestly, if you went for backing up the documents, mails etc. and reinstalled the whole **** computer, it would take MUCH less time than figuring out which mess is which And in fact, if it got to such point to have enormous amounts of crap in for example the installer folder, it's apparently time for a reinstall anyway! I would make a list of what's in the start menu and then just run all of the .msi files in each of the folders in installer one, seeing which is no longer used. Windows have a bad habit of keeping everything... And the hotfix backup folders in root of \windows are absolutely safe to delete.
  24. Also, please add a "log" at the end of first post for such cases as one update being replaced by some other. The point is not having old useless ones saved. Thanks.
