  1. Oh my. What a POS
  2. Good point there. I tested it and the difference in the final ISO is about 60MB - nothing to cry about.
  3. Yes it does work up to some point for some people, but like I mentioned - don't be surprised when it doesn't as it's different OS and beta... And no support from vLite at all (well, yet).
  4. And that makes you surprised why? It's a different OS (yet built on same code) and even a beta. Jeez.
  5. Hmm so there is some hidden component in the non-N version responsible for the format support?? That is interesting.
  6. Am I doing something wrong or does VPC NOT support 64bit at all? I thought to test my Vista64 ISO in VM, but no, it refuses to work cause there is no 64bit CPU. I am running 64bit Vista now and logically thought 64bit edition of Virtual PC would support 64bit environment!
  7. Codecs won't help, I need to install support for the format first... Is it called splitter? Well I might just install the non-N version anyway... It's just that I like to have as little crap in the system as possible (even if it's not used).
  8. Tried what you suggested anyway and there is no WMP support in that tab at all. So I don't know. I vLited my installation of course, but didn't spot anything that'd have anything to do with compatibility or support for this...
  9. How? I am not saying it might not, but be a bit more specific. Spyware I never ever had problem with, popups I can take care of myself by using good browser. What else is it doing a firewall/antivir cannot handle?
  10. The description is somewhat confusing. Helps protect against popups? I already have Opera doing that. Agains slow performance? What's that? etc. The realtime protecttion worries me a bit, looks quite like performance killer itself So, shall I remove it or does it serve any purpose for non-beginner user?
  11. Unfortunately I cannot, it's all greyed out. I really don't get it, ALL other possible system settings are changeable.
  12. But I want to solve it the way I described
  13. This is the ONLY thing I cannot run. Weird.
  14. What do you mean? Right mouse doesn't do anything in there. This computer - properties - and in there I am supposed to r-click on the advanced tab? That is what you mean?
  15. Thats what I tried to install! It gives me an error stating something about insufficient room :-O I don't get it.
  16. Well, I am not exactly sure which! It's a bit messy. I tried to install something, but it refused to. Can you link me to something that works under Vista please?
  17. I got BusinessN Vista, which means there is no WMP (hooray), but despite the fact I got FFDShow installed I cannot play win. media stuff at all. What shall I do?
  18. Changing the VGA doesn't change anything. The biggest impact on the score has 1) CPU 2) MB in that order, from what I heard.
  19. Try to physically change the cpu and MB then, I would say.
  20. Well, I just vLited me Vista BusinessM. Since I am not a friend of more users, I just set a password for (I guess) the default admin. It is a home pc, so no domain etc.
  21. Nono, not original Raptor, VelociRaptor Of course I got the disk partitioned. I run Vista64 and usually I play one particular rather resource-demanding game with plenty of stuff running in background - say, browser, Winamp, ICQ, file manager, mail, AND also torrents. Now the last thing, that's a problem, because with my 30mbit connection I got no problems forcing the hdd led shine almost permamently, which effectively makes it impossible for any other disk operations to work normally (that is where RAID or VCR would come handy ) So with rather heavy multitasking and lots of hdd activity I thought about VCR as system drive with all the installed apps (some of which can probably make the hdd sweat a lot) in there, and other unimportant yet permanently running stuff switched on the second line where they wouldn't bug me. Maleko: yeah I guess so. I wish the spinPoint was 2TB I definitely don't want to have more than 2 disks though. But hell, if I get p***ed off enough, I will create some network storage in the closet; with 1gbit network it would be just as fast to access movies this way as if they were in the PC
  22. I originally wanted to buy another same drive for backup purposes, but recently I've been a bit annoyed by having the data on same physical drive. It doesn't help the performance too much, either. It's just that I see no point in having non-system data on the disk where OS is installed.
  23. I got 1TB Samsung SpinPoint disk at the moment and I really like it. But recently I've been thinking about getting extra physical drive for system. So. I cannot decide whether to grab 74GB VCR or another relatively fast and reliable 7k2 TB one. I am running short on disk space, but it's not that big problem (it's mostly movies anyway). The ultimate argument is the price for GB.... 74GB for x or 1000GB for about the same price. the speed on VCR is nice though. I just can't decide.
  24. Well, I just do. Heh. I like it. It was like pressing certain key combination.
