Well, atm I got XP only and it is and will be my main OS. All I want to do is create new partition where I'd install Vista. They thing is whether it will or will not be a problem if I decide to erase the Vista partition completely. The Vista will be for temporary testing puroses only. XP - C: DVD - D: Vista - whatever available

Well, I got 32bit XP and 2GB of RAM. I got no way to tell whether it's true or not.

A little confusing thread name maybe, so I will mane it clearer: How to create a partition so I can still normally boot XP after I get rid off Vista? Some months ago I tried to play with Vista a bit and I beleive it messed up the boot loader that was originally present, resulting in not being able to boot XP at all after. Any way to prevent this?

Is it really impossible to integrate hotfixes and MUI packs into 64bit Vista under XP? And why?

Few days ago someone told me the numbers task manager reports are totally wrong (we were talking about memory at that time). The guy told me it's some kind of bug or whatever in the kernel, that's just counting it wrong. Anyone can confirm this?

Reading this thread makes me sad. I work in HP and MUST use company notebook with Vista installed from image, and it comes with INCREDIBLE amount of crap. Installing takes 2 hours. LOL. Booting the **** thing takes about ten minutes until disk stops reading like mad. I really wish you will never have to undergo the same

I got GigaByte EP35-DS4 board and whenever I try to use graphic card in the upper x16 slot it mostly doesn't work. Symptoms - power on, weird quick errorneous beep and nothing on the screen (the PC keeps on booting though, I THINK). Sometimes (usually not) it helps to hard reset the PC or take the card out and back in. The lower slot works just fine. Anyone got any idea why is it so?

What black magic are you doing with your computers? I haven't gotten any of these problems during the time I've been using nLite (aside from the last one, but IE7 is crap and noone sane uses it). Or you don't know how to work with nLite and remove/tweak too much.

That would be the same I got on my GigaByte EP35-DS4. It's not that the buzz while moving mouse is LOUD. I can hear it when there is silence in the room and I have to listen carefully. But it is there and I believe it shouldn't!

/fail WHAT problem? I am not aware of any. Proof or it never happened.

TranceEnergy, nice irony, but I don't quite get it. rest: The router is Asus WL-500gP. The switch... umm you got me. I can't remember offhand (at work and cannot check atm). I think it's Zyxel ES-105. Basically I got no problem to ping at under 10ms around my country (usually 1-2ms to fast servers that are - I guess - in my city. Is that quality proof/test enough? I can't test the raw speed though, I have yet to find a server fast enough

I wouldn't say the mic is set too loud as everyone is satisfied with my volume. No parallel anywhere around. This is not too uncommon for crappy onboard from what I heard somewhere.

Since I am (sadly) not very networking-educated, I want to ask a question. Does having some other devices "in the way", meaning between my end and the internets any impact on quality of the line? Few days ago I got me new connection, nice symmetric 30mbit with fiber all the way to the basement of the house. But there has to be a switch on my end cause of a set top box (got me TV as well). Well, I had to plug my old router into that because we also got a notebook at home and I refuse to drag more cables around When I was at that, I plugged my desktop back into the router thinking it might not be that bad idea as the builtin NAT filters some crap out... But am I not losing any speed, quality, or whatever, going through additional device?

My PSU is modular, and I like to keep a minimum of cables in use if possible. Floppy connectors are only attached to the molex cables on my PSU. It would be the only device that uses that cable, and routing cables to a half-length card across the motherboard is just a pain in the rear. So is mine! But there is a reduction included in the box

PCIe is nice, but if it requires a floppy connector like the DX or the D2X do I'll gladly pick the PCI variant over PCIe. What is the big deal?

I hear what I hear - sorry! SPDIF I don't care about. When I plug in a microphone, major distirtion comes out of the speakers. When the room is quiet, I can hear some kind of buz when moving the mouse. That is not a quality I seek. Keep in mind the Auzentech is only based on the Creative chip, which is - from what I was told - not bad at all. The thing about Creative card is bad quality of everything else

Well, only that I couldn't even boot from CD in IDE mode too... Totally weird behavior. Plus I got an error straight at the AHCI BIOS boot screen. Something fishy about the whole BIOS. I had to revert to F5.. Sadly I couldn't find a link to 6a. Anyway, hoping they will fix this. **** releases with absoluetely no changelogs!

I think since I still use onboard Realtek crap I will jsut buy it when it comes out

Well well... I flashed new BIOS and now my HDD cannot be found anymore. The AHCI BIOS gives me this error message for the disk - "device init parameter failed". What the hell is this?? If I switch to IDE mode its ok, but since I got Windows installed in AHCI, I can't boot anyway. What kinda freaky error is that and why is it happening? :-O

Auzen is about to release a new card by the way. I am tempted to give the Xonar back to the store I bought it in and wait...

In order to get some information you need to increase the font size, turn it in red and add something like "!!!!!!!111" at the end.
