  1. I plan getting http://www.auzentech.com/site/products/x-fi_forte.php when I get new juicy speakers:)
  2. The only trouble is the card does not have HDMI output at all. Anyway, I assume it's not possible to use that instead of the Realtek crap on the mb...
  3. What the? Audio on VGA? Am I missing anything here? :-O I only swapped x1900 for 4870, but I am not sure it started to show up after that at all.
  4. Yeah I tried that. Nothing.
  5. How is that gonna make any difference? It just executes the uninstaller.
  6. How about the "built-in" windows update? Afaik it doesn't need browser and might work directly. Just an idea... Also, I would try to download say latest version of NOD32 and do a scan while not connected to the internet.
  7. Sure, everything is installed. It is weird... In fact I never had older drivers installed before, this is a clean install.
  8. So is there any way to get rid off this media licensing crap completely, say, using vLite perhaps? I tried x64 Vista for a day and well, I am not sure what the conclusion would be. At least it is stable compared to the last time I tried (pre-SP1). I don't really have any way to compare the performance by exact numbers, but I THINK disk operations are about same as under XP. Hm. I don't like the GUI at all though, too used to XP Btw. Can anyone confirm that by using Aero the general load decreases as this gets taken care of by VGA? Overally it is "ok". But 4GB of RAM is really a must (but 8 being an overkill).
  9. apparently only under 64bit...
  10. I have been trying 64bit vLited version of Ultimate. On 2GB RAM. Jesus that's pathetically slow. 4GB is reasonable minimum I would say. And fast computer as well.
  11. Overclocked E8400, 2GB of 1066MHz DDR2, ATI 4870, 1TB Samsung Spinpoint HDD. The PC was choking like hell, there were virtually no applications running aside from vLite and yet everything was slow as hell. I really hate this Vista behavior - filling all memory just because it is available for useless stuff. But the disk was not always swapping, reading and writing. It still took ages though. I don't get it. edit: was running Vista64 Ultimate (vlited a little - actually a lot hehe)
  12. But the .NET 2 and 3 is not included in 3.5 then? It just has SPs for those in it, right? So I still need to install whatever other version I might need individually if I understand correctly. Also, 3.0 is included in Vista and cannot be removed it seems? Any way to integrate a SP for that in the installation (this might suite vLite section more, I know, but...). And last one - Vista only has 3.0 in it? Or maybe something else too?
  13. What's the difference between 3.0 and 3.5 and does version 3 include previous versions (1 and/or 2 to be specific) in it or not? Additionally there are SPs released for .NET and that only adds to it - are there installers available for full packages with the particular SP included? The Microsoft download pages are a mess, can't tell anything from that.
  14. Tell me, is it normal for both SP1 and a MUI pack to take almost two hours each??? My PC was also choking like hell. Wtf, 2GB of RAM should be enough for this :-O
  15. And any other way under 32bit system? I even installed non-SP Vista and slipstreraming, but it's painlessly slow and I even got a message stating it failed without any additional imformation... getting desperate!
  16. Look, I have overclocked E8400, 1TB Samsung HDD, 2x1GB of RAM, 4870 and the total power consumption is LESS than 300W. Go figure. The industry is fooling us man... 400W PSU is way enough for normal PC. edit: Must admit there is not a PSU like a PSU... Quality 400W one is NOT equal to sh*tty 500W one. I can recommend the one I got - enermax Modu 82+ ( I think).
  17. Ok I installed it and it didn't do anything.
  18. Well I have always been using drivers downloaded from Realtek web with no problems at all. Sadly I cannot tell when exactly has this started to show up, but I am sure I did not change anything major in the system - definitely not the integrated sound I already have SP3 for a long time btw. The driver from manufacturer's site (GigaByte) is pretty much the same as the one available on Realtek site. Btw it even states it already includes UAA - I assume it is the thing you linked me to, without clicking yet
  19. This started to show up recently. Haven't seen that before at all.I thought it might be something with new version of the drivers, but with older version it didn't go away. What gives? :-O The text is gibberish but I guess you get the idea It says sound device on HD audio bus and the other window bugs me about the device being inproperly configured.
  20. Weird stuff happening. I installed in the new partition F:, and it refuses to work. Vista installed, but after I try to boot into it, I get error about winload.exe and some 0xc000000f code. Whoa :-O
  21. How about Citrix?
  22. UltraVNC. Used it in my previous job and it works wonderful.
  23. Nothing, just asking about something I heard of but no way to test myself Pure curiosity.
