  1. The "P" in VRMP is or Professional, don't know what the VRM is. The volume discs, as far as I know, aren't released with an integrated service pack. VRMPVOL_EN is what the label would be if they did though. Cheers *Edit - Well I guess they do...whoops
  2. /n Cheers
  3. Look around for Bcwipe, it should be a free download. Part of the package is bcwipepd.exe. Put this program on a dos boot disk and run bcwipepd i to determine what disk number your hard disk is (usually 0). Then run bcwipepd w -d0 and let it run to at least 1%. That should wipe out the mbr and partition table completely. Its brought at least a couple of disks back from the dead for me. Cheers
  4. They also included an extra SP2 disc the the Sep. MSDN shipment I got today with intructions to share it with friends and family. Gotta be the first disc Microsoft in a while that didn't have the "Do Not Copy" label on it. Cheers
  5. Thanks! The last column in the list is the pid that appears in the setupp.ini in the I386 folder. Cheers
  6. Its VRMPFPP_EN for the MSDN Windows XP Pro SP2 intregrated CD (Which is the same as retail). Attached is a list of all the ones I know off. If anyone happens to have a non-slipstreamed Windows 2000 w/SP2 CD, I'd appreciate it if you could tell me the dates the files have. Cheers LABELS.TXT
  7. If you have MSDN Subscriber access, its up there. Cheers
  8. All you need is FASTTX2K.SY_ in your I386 folder and the following added to your TXTSETUP.SIF file: under [sourceDisksFiles] fasttx2k.sys = 1,,,,,,4_,4,1,,,1,4 under [HardwareIdsDatabase] PCI\VEN_105A&DEV_3319 = "fasttx2k" PCI\VEN_105A&DEV_3371 = "fasttx2k" PCI\VEN_105A&DEV_3373 = "fasttx2k" PCI\VEN_105A&DEV_3376 = "fasttx2k" PCI\VEN_105A&DEV_6629 = "fasttx2k" under [sCSI.Load] fasttx2k = fasttx2k.sys,4 under [sCSI] fasttx2k = "Promise FastTrak 37x/S150 TX4000 Series Controllers" That should be all you need for it to be recognized during installation. Cheers
  9. Check out the demo of ERDisk (by Aelita I think). Older versions used to let you create a set of recovery disks or an iso (using the original Windows install CD for NT/2K/XP/2K3) that were basically the windows recovery console with added features like registry editing and stuff. I'm guessing they still allow you to create the floppies for free...they never timed out or anything. Raxco (sp?) also used to have a similar product that let you create floppies for free. I remember using it on some NT boxes a few years back. Cheers edit - Yikes! the download for ERDisk used to be around 10mb now its 110mb!
  10. Check out ISOLinux. Its a fun fast and easy boot loader that a lot of linux distros use to kick off their installations and it also supports loading the cdrom boot sectors of WinNT/2K/XP discs for installation of windows. It may not be as pretty as cdshell or bootable cd wizard, but its rather easy to work with. I think I remember reading something around here about multibooting on a dvd with win/linux...try a search for knoppix as I think thats what they were trying to get working. Cheers
  11. I couldn't edit my SP1 hive files after I updated to SP2. It would always refuse to expand the hive. As an interesting sidenote, I was able to edit them under my SP2 based PE...weird no? Cheers
  12. Yeah...thats what I tracked them down for. I was going to do update manually but decided it wasn't worth the effort if the floppy images were available. cheers
  13. Get em Here You can get the Home floppies Here Cheers
  14. %systemdrive% will return x: so you can't cd to it. Just type in %systemdrive%\program.exe to get the program to work. If you type in %systemdrive% when you are on another drive it will take you to the root of the systemdrive just like typing x: would. Cheers
  15. Look around for a utility called baptize.exe. Cheers
  16. Are you sure it works using setupldr.bin in SP1? I could have sworn you couldn't go directly to that file. You can also try asking your question in the Bootable CD forum Here Cheers
  17. DoD employees get it for free Ask your IT guy at work where to get it from if you are a DoD employee. Cheer
  18. Nope...0.9.9 is the latest and greatest. Cheers
  19. The nvidia drivers were updated to 56.xx or 57.xx something or other. I guess it stands to reason that the ati drivers were similarly updated. Cheers
  20. You're much better off if you rebuild the entire thing rather than editing the iso. Cheers
  21. Haven't used BCDW, just isolinux, but don't you have to load the (hexedited) cdrom bootsector instead of setupldr.bin? ie....bootsect.bin tells where setupldr.bin is located which tells where txtsetup.sif is located which in turn tells where the install files reside. Cheers
  22. Did you edit SETUPLDR.bin correctly? Cheers
  23. There is a newer build of SAV 9 out that should support SP2 with no patches. SAV build 9.0.1.1000 Cheers
  24. Thats the right crc...wierd. I haven't tried it yet Cheers
  25. Its really just a cab file. Rename to .cab and expand with winrar...etc. I know some users at work who are gonna be mighty ticked off microsoft decided not to enable concurrent sessions in SP2...sigh. cheers
