Since some people had expressed interest in having multiple Linux Live distros I thought I'd post what you need to change in order to do it. Right now I have SLAX, CloneGenius2008, CloneZilla, Ubunutu, Kubuntu, OpenSuSE, Fedora, MandrivaOne, PCLinuxOS, Knoppix, D amn Small Linux, PartedMagic, and ZenWalk all booting from there own folders inside a folder called LINUX thats on the root of my disc. If there's interest I can post some of the modifed initrds to RapidShare or something. Mostly what needs to be changed is stuff inside the initrd, which you can do inside of Linux. Here's the list: Cheers

I see a reference to Microsoft.VC90.CRT in the error which means it was compiled with Visual Studio 2008. Maybe you need the Visual Studio 2008 C++ Redistributable installed to register the file? http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...;DisplayLang=en Just a guess. The author's email is in the readme.txt file and on the about page of the program. He could probably help you more than anyone here. Cheers

Also I noticed the EULA is now non-Microsoft and now provides for distribution. You still can't distribute wimgapi.dll, but the main program gimagex.exe can be distributed as long as it comes with the EULA and the readme.txt file. Cheers

Too many forums, not enough time v2.0.4 http://www.autoitscript.com/gimagex/ Cheers

From the guys who wrote GImageX. Here's a new and improved version written in C++. http://blogs.technet.com/richardsmith/arch...-available.aspx You'll need to download the WAIK to get the required wimgapi.dll. Cheers

Super-Disc: Multi-Boot Project CD/DVD Using ISOLINUX
Jotnar replied to jetman's topic in Multi-Boot CD/DVDs
If you guys want to get rid of that annoying text drop shadow on the vesamenu in ISOLinux, just replace the "std" and the end of your color selections with "rev". ie. Change menu color sel 0 #ffffffff #85000000 std to menu color sel 0 #ffffffff #85000000 rev It'll look much more readable on lighter backgrounds. Cheers -
You might want to add the new Seagate DiscWizard or Maxtor PowerMax (They're both the same program and work for both Seagate and Maxtor drives). Its some kind of crossbreed between Acronis TrueImage and Acronis MigrateEasy. The linux boot cd version will boot from ISOLinux just fine and you can install the windows version if you want (more features, Vista compatible). You might want to have a windows 2000 recovery console option too (no password required when booting on an XP box). If you have to deal with Dell machines you could throw the Dell Diagnostics on there as well. Cheers

Super-Disc: Multi-Boot Project CD/DVD Using ISOLINUX
Jotnar replied to jetman's topic in Multi-Boot CD/DVDs
What gets me is that with the old menu system my floppy images worked fine. The network bootdisk booted fine under Virtual PC with no extra memdisk switches required. The only time I had to use the raw switch was with the WinME/XP DOS Boot Disk which was the reason they put the raw switch in there in the first place. It was something about that version of DOS failing if it couldn't access a certain part of memory if I remember correctly. For that reason I always used Win98SE DOS boot disks if I ever had to make a bootable floppy. I just don't understand how changing the menu system should make an image that booted fine before hang horribly. Cheers Edit... I've had DiscManager, MaxBlast, and Data Lifeguard Tools all booting with the old menu system, they even boot up with the new menu system. The program seems to hang when it starts though. It doesn't do this with VirtualBox or QEMU so I have to burn a CD and test it on a real system to see if its just VirtualPC. -
Super-Disc: Multi-Boot Project CD/DVD Using ISOLINUX
Jotnar replied to jetman's topic in Multi-Boot CD/DVDs
I'm starting to think that Virtual PC is not terribly good for testing ISOLinux stuff out on. In switching from the plain jane boot menu to vesamenu, some of my boot disks no longer boot properly. For the Universal TCP/IP Boot Disk I had to add the raw option to memdisk to get it to boot inside Virtual PC and I'm still having issues getting Seagate DiscWizard, Maxtor MaxBlast, and Western Digital Data Lifeguard Tools to boot up correctly. Here the obligiatory screenhots of my disc. Before (old menu) After (new vesameu) with password protection Cheers -
I know it sounds stupid but try renaming the extensions .imz to .zip and .ima to .img. Cheers edit... You shouldn't need to use the RAW switch unless your boot floppy was made on ME/XP.

You'll need to have the KNOPPIX folder on the root of your disc. Create another folder called DSL. Put the files linux24 and minirt24.gz in the DSL folder (you can find them on the DSL iso in boot\isolinux). Add to your CDShell config something that looks like this: if ($lastKey == key[??]); then isolinux /DSL/linux24 ramdisk_size=100000 init=/etc/init lang=us apm=power-off vga=791 initrd=/DSL/minirt24.gz nomce noapic quiet BOOT_IMAGE=knoppix Cheers

You can boot WinPE 2.0 with ISOLinux just the same as you could with the older WinPE. The folder structure for this is a little different: BOOT ISOLINUX SOURCES BOOTMGR BOOT, ISOLINUX, and SOURCES are the folders and BOOTMGR is like the old SETUPLDR.BIN. ETFSBOOT.COM in the BOOT folder is the bootsector. WinPE (BOOT.WIM 156mb) is in the SOURCES folder. Just boot with ISOLinux like normal and it should boot up fine. It did for me at least. If you just use the english fonts you can also save some spaec and delete the asian fonts in BOOT\FONTS. You need to download the 800mb image file to build WinPE (either x86 or x84). You'll end up with a ~156mb WinPE when your done. Cheers

If you go to the Microsoft Connect site, you can sign up for the XP Embedded Feature Pack 2007 CTP which includes ufdprep.exe, an updated version of formatufd.exe that allows you to format the USB stick with NTFS among other things. You have to extract the file from "Windows XP Embedded Tools FP2007 Update.msp" or you can just install the update if you have XP Embedded. I used Total Commander with the msi plugin to extract the file. Cheers

Go and download Advanced Installer. Make an msi installer from the Notepad++ zip download. Easy as pie! Cheers

You can now download this for free from the Microsoft OEM site after you logon. This in addition to the previously offered the Windows XP SP2 OPK. Cheers

Does anyone have a link for the latest version? The one in the tread seems to be broken. Cheers

How do I get XPs Recovery Console on my Multiboot DVD
Jotnar replied to andyd's topic in Multi-Boot CD/DVDs
The files that comprise the Recovery Console are just the files that are included in the Windows Boot Floppys that you can download from Microsoft. In order to get to the Recovery Console, it needs to load all the drivers that it normally would for setup. Now you can remove some of these drivers and it will load faster or you can add your own mass storage drivers so it will support certain RAID/SATA/SCSI configurations. Even when run from the hard disk, the Recovery Console still loads all the drivers, you just don't see it doing so (also its doing it faster since its on a hard disk). It would appear that Mazarul is just using a similar technique to what has already been used to boot the Recovery Console from his DVD. He still has to press "R" to get to the Recvoery Console after it loads all the drivers. If a way could be found to go straight to the Recovery Console, that would be fantastic, but it probably involves the bootsect.dat file (unique to each machine the Recovery Console is installed on) and maybe hex editing the spcmdcon.sys file. The link to the thread I mentioned previously (3 years old... yikes!) is here. You can download an XP Recovery Console CD that was created about 2/3 years ago here. Cheers -
How do I get XPs Recovery Console on my Multiboot DVD
Jotnar replied to andyd's topic in Multi-Boot CD/DVDs
The closest you can get is booting the XP/2003 Recovery Console and pressing F10 when it asks you if you want to press F6. This will take you straight to the Recovery Console without asking anymore questions. Look on the 911CD.net forums, there was a very long and exhaustive thread about it last year or maybe the year before. Cheers -

@amd64lover You can get the generic cdrom driver file from pretty much any windows boot floppy. Its called oakcdrom.sys or something similar. @Techie30 It looks like you have an extra slash in your ISOLinux config: root=/dev/ram/0 should be root=/dev/ram0 I'd also like to note that the search funtion is a wonderful tool http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=39218 Cheers

You can't run an install off of a CD/DVD from the original floppy disk images. You need to have one of the CD install versions. There was one from Compaq (an OEM DOS 6.22/Win3.11 Disc) and I think some of the older MSDN discs had a CD version of DOS 6.22. The problem is that the install on the floppy disks checks for the disk labels, and in this case the labels have spaces in them. "disk 1" or something like that. Cheers
