Pluggin in your IP manually is not the way to go. But if you insist, you will have to enter the IP for a DNS server aswell. Cheers.

Hi mate, Not sure if I can help you, but you mentioned you used another computer connected directly to the "computer in question" and you still experienced the problem... What if you were to work vice versa.... So you take your "computer in question" and use that one to connect to the other computer. If you do the same actions you did previously, does the connection still drop? I use RD alot and never experience any problems. Good luck... BTW... have you tried using a modified TCPIP.SYS? http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showto...ndpost&p=162175

Ow man... what is it with this guy!!! He didn't ask for "net user" or "nusermgr", he asked for "control userpasswords2 ". He didn't ask WHAT one could do with it, he asked for alternatives to OPEN the box. YOU are the one that's confusing the responses. How many times must I repeat myself. Jeeez...
-
The "diversity" of answers all relate to how to access this particular box, nothing to do with what he wants to do with it. It's not relevant in this post. Thank you.

...uhm... manage passwords, perhaps?

that worked for their old screensavers, it doesn't for the new ones.

It can be done much simpler... As I said (in dutch) above... Just edit the .scr file and insert your serial. Couldn't be easier and works for ALL their screensavers
-
muiz jongen... alles goed... Wimpie hier... Je kan de serenescene screensavers editen en de serial invoeren zodat je alleen nog maar op okay hoeft te klicken als je'm voor het eerst opstart bel me anders ff

I would have to agree with Bashrat. After all you don't say "sluit de Word af" or "sluit de Outlook af." However, you should ADD a "de" before "programmas" in the same sentence. So it should read... "Sluit WPI zonder de programmas's te installeren." That would be consistent with the beginning of the paragraph where it says "DE geselecteerde programmas" and "DE aanbevolen programmas" Also, in my opinion it would be more correct to say "sluit WPI AF zonder..." Sluit af... iets afsluiten. Shut-down... not just shut. Just my two cents... EDIT: On second thought if you consider Close = Sluit you may be correct. I still believe "sluit af" would be better, and probably grammatically more correct.

Well, I find 30 bucks a bit on the steep side when it come to removing things I've never even asked for or installed myself. Also I see they reviewed the commercial version of Ad-Aware and note that it has 1 year support for updates. However, the FREE version of Ad-Aware is EXACTLY the same, but comes without Ad-Watch. And I've had free updates for over a year now. Also, I'd like to see how often each of those programs tested update their definition files. I find that an important factor in spyware protection. I feel safe with the freeware alternatives, including Firefox.

MS AntiSpyware & MS Agent users beware!
enuffsaid replied to enuffsaid's topic in Malware Prevention and Security
Yes... and after I've scanned my PC and tell it to ALLWAYS IGNORE the (only) two hits it just found (Messenger Plus! and L&H Text-To-Speech engine), it still wants to close all Internet Explorer windows, warning that it can't clean correctly if there are open browser windows... ...But I just told it not to clean anything, and always ignore it! I'll just finish this post and alow it to close all windows; see what happens. Edit: Files are still there -

MS AntiSpyware & MS Agent users beware!
enuffsaid replied to enuffsaid's topic in Malware Prevention and Security
Also, interestingly enough EVERYTHING with regard to Patchou's Messenger Plus! is regarded as Ad-ware. EVERY file (yes, even the language .ini files and developers.txt) ALL registry keys are detected as an Adware bundler. I do NOT have the sponser option installed. I know technically speaking MS is right in saying it is a spyware "bundler", and although it is ignored by default, it is marked as High Threat (in red!) and seems to me as an attempt to scare people out of using Messenger Plus! Another case of MS strategy to "nag" the users out of Messenger Plus!??? -
As far as I know, none of the suggestions with regard to CoolWebSearch will help. Spybot S&D, Adaware with the (VX2 plugin), and CWShredder will NOT remove all "strands" of CWS. CWS is almost virus like, it actively checks its existence in memory, and if a process is shutdown, it will restart it. Try this... Check your HOSTS file (windows\system32\drivers\etc). Its most likely plasterd with entries that don't belong there. Remove all entries except the 127.0.0.1 localmachine. Close notepad, reopen it, and voila... all entries are back. CWS has evolved into the nastiest of all ad-ware, and just like with virus scanners, if a particular strand is not know to the virus database, it will not be found by the virus scanner. Honestly, I've found 2 machines from customers where ALL anti-spyware tools did NOT help... I've tried ALL tools mentioned here PLUS more. Even some extensive snooping of the registry myself. You can wait till CWShredder (which is your best chance) is updated to find and clean your strand of CWS infection, but if you want my advice, ... format and reinstall with that handy unattended CD you probably have laying around. You'll be up and running again in a few hours and THEN you may consider Firefox. Good luck mate, CWS is HELL! Check out this interesting read: http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/cwschronicles.html EDIT: Please note that I'm not saying the usual anti-spyware tools can not delete CWS at all, I'm just saying if you're unlucky, you're infected with a new strand that cannot yet be removed.

I tried MS AntiSpyware tool today and I would like to point out this: I have Microsoft Agent installed and MS AntiSpyware recognizes Microsoft's own Agent install of L&H TruVoice TTS engine "tv_enua.exe" as "WhenU.SaveNow" Adware. Infected files detected C:\WINDOWS\lhsp\tv\tvenuax.dll Infected registry keys/values detected HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{B8F2846E-CE36-11D0-AC83-00C04FD97575} Just so you know and don't go deleting that file...

Nobody asked you, Jerry.

Microsoft uses "app paths" Check HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\App Paths. You can define your own there.
-
If it says "...connecting...", and does so forever, you need to add more supernodes to Kazaa registry. That should fix your connection problem. It's got nothing to do with Firewall. Kazaa works fine here behind the Windows firewall. PM me for the registry fix. Don't expect a quick reply. I hardly drop by here anymore.

do you have spelling / grammar checker on?

Why not just add the .PST as a new data file in outlook and push your mail around any way you like; to or from another PST. Easy as pie!
-
You can also choose to copy the Notepad.lnk from the Default User\Start Menu\Programs\Accessories to the $OEM$\$Docs\Default User\SendTo folder of your unattended CD. That way ALL users will have the right-click - send-to-notepad link. Better and quicker if your asking me. EDIT: To view .NFO files ANSI ART correctly in Notepad, remember to set your font to "Terminal" EDIT2: Oops... he prat mentioned the unattended part already.... such a long story for such a small operation.

@ prathapml Hold yer lip buddy. I know the rules, thank you very much. As the MUI's are FREE, nothing wrong with using eDonkey (or any other P2P proggie) to find them. Just as you can use those to find royalty free music. And wasn't it you who said you used P2P software extensively. Friggin hypocrit! Chill out, and reread the rules yourself.
