  1. Good on you, bro. Glad I could be of assistance.
  2. Hmm... okay mate. Sounds okay. I'll have a look tonite and report back. Cheers.
  3. I've installed WindowsXP Service Pack 0 on a 200 Gig HDD formatted with NTFS... no problemo.
  4. AutoPartion=o should be AutoPartition=0 I don't have access to my RIS server at the moment, so I can't tell you for sure, but it works for me. RIS does not read the .sif files from the I386 folder but from a different location. Be sure to update that one, too.
  5. Well, the %userprofile% is not going to work for you. I don't use Yahoo! Messenger, but is it stored in the "default user profile" of "all user profile"? Delete it from there. HTH
  6. or just try re-installing the codecs: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsme...ecdownload.aspx
  7. Your Oeminfo.ini looks good from where I'm standing. Perhaps you should check and remove any trailing spaces in your entries. Good luck.
  8. Did you use FAT32? Try NTFS.
  9. Make sure you have a display name along with the email addresses in your address book. Everything should work now.
  10. The links I posted above should work for you, too.
  11. @ soulin, That looks like a mighty fine tool indeed. I'm gonna check it out. Thanks.
  12. For starters... play the movie in IE. Then check your Temporary Internet Files folder. Chances are, you'll find the file there. For streaming video there a tons of tools. Just google for "capture streaming video" and try to find a freeware tool. EDIT: some general info here: http://emoney.al.ru/capture-streaming-video-and-audio/ Good luck.
  13. This may happen if a users has entries in his / her address book without display name. It may happen that OL does not update its cache with these entries. Try resetting the cache. How to reset the nickname and the automatic completion caches in Outlook: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/287623/ Automatic completion function may not resolve addresses to names in the cache in Outlook 2002 http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?...kb;en-us;292882 Hope this helps with your "dismal situation." Good luck
  14. It would help us if you told us WHAT you have tried, and not just "everything." Cos if you HAVE tried "everything," there's not much room for us to help you, is there?
  15. Double click my Computer > Tools > Folder Options > General (tab) > Under Browse Folder select Open each folder in the same windows
  16. The file CMD.EXE is the Microsoft Windows NT command line shell and is more compatible and portable between different hardware platforms when compared to the original COMMAND.COM, which has been used as the command interpreter with DOS for several years. COMMAND.COM is included for backwards compatibility and is recommended that it be used when old MS-DOS programs may not be able to be run in Windows NT. One of the most noticeable things a user is going to notice when using CMD to access MS-DOS is the ability to use long file names. When a user is using COMMAND they will need to use the short 8.3 name. For example, if a user wanted to access "My Documents" in COMMAND they would need to type "cd mydocu~1". However, a user who wanted access the same directory through CMD could type "cd my documents". HTH
  17. For help: http://www.dosgamesonline.com/index/dosgamesxp/ The tool: http://dosbox.sourceforge.net/news.php?show_news=1 Good luck.
  18. not sure if its compatible with WPI, but it most likely is... This works only for WindowsXP Pro version: taskkill /F /IM msnmsgr.exe Here's some M$ help: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/home/us...en/taskkill.asp
  19. Try this freeware tool: MasterYourWindows from http://www.freeware-guide.com/dir/util/system.html There are other apps out there that do the same, some shareware. Google for: maximize windows tool freeware ... with or without the freeware Good luck
  20. I'd like a bit more info on this please. Starting explorer from the Task-Manager is a trick I use on many systems that don't show the desktop. And it happens to systems NOT in a domain environment, without SMS or SUS. I'm not saying that SMS or SUS are not the problem. It could be a network problem. Where do you store the user profiles? Do you have folder synchronisation switched on in your domain. How large are the user profiles on the network of the users that are experiencing this problem? Let us know...
  21. When you say icons are missing, do you mean from the desktop? And those "icons" are all shortcuts (UNLIKE the Network, My Computer, Recycle Bin, and Outlook icon for example)? With other words, the icons you are missing have the little arrow in them? Because ALL shortcuts are saved in the Current User profile Desktop folder and the ALL user profile Desktop folder. Regards, eNuffSaid
  22. No problems mate... Goodnight, and keep us posted. eNuffSaid
  23. I don't know exactly what determines the size of the pagefile.sys. I do know RAM is the greatest contribution in the determination of the pagefile size. By default its always larger than the RAM you have. I have 2 systems with 1 Gig RAM, and both have their pagefiles at 1,5 Gig. So a multiplier of 150% would sound logical. However, I read from people with 2 Gig RAM, their pagefile file is 4 Gig. That's 200%. I would have expected a 3 Gig pagefile.sys for systems with 2 Gig RAM.
  24. I'd like to jump in for my friend KoolDrew... Things have gotten a bit heated today with a few fellas and posts. My friend KoolDrew and I, standing side by side, were taking some heat, and unfortunatly it got to our heads. Not just KoolDrew, but mine aswell. Please forgive me and KD. He's a friendly and helpful chap, like most of us here. And, like most of us here, we are human to. We both humbly apologize. Regards, eNuffSaid
  25. Sorry to hear that, mate. I'm really running out of answers. Looks like you'll have to create a bootable CD like SuperWinPE or Winternal's Admin Tools and edit the registry that way (load hive). There are plenty rescue CD's available. Try here or google for "rescue cd". Hope that helps.
