  1. Herein is where your issue lies. You're thinking the problem is with FDM where it is technically with Sphinx. I tried with three other software firewalls. FDM worked with each and every one of them, "by default". It's only with Sphinx that FDM doesn't work "by default". But it can be made to work with Sphinx if you DELETE two of the firewall rules.

  2. Yes it sure looks like an easy way to do that. I don't have much experience with this program. You suggest to install it, or portable works fine also? Which Profile and Mode do you use? I see, yes a lot of things to consider, not easy to pinpoint what could be the problem. I haven't used xp-AntiSpy much, but it seems to be a good essential program.

  3. Well, I hope I didn't "react" too quickly. But I *deleted* my XP x86 SP2 VM (I technically have no use for it and don't have the time to slim it to my liking). So this is in my normal self-slimmed XP x86 SP3 VM. And when I searched for your version of Sphinx, I found a different version and ran with it. Good news - it did exactly what you cited, FDM could NOT download when Sphinx was installed !!! For me, it was the "default" SYSTEM and SVCHOST rules that Sphinx set. DELETE the SYSTEM and SVCHOST rules and FDM now works! I didn't screencap "before", and I'm going from memory that the rules were called "system" and "svchost". But at any rate, DELETE THOSE RULES and FDM works. Granted, I may have only needed to delete ONE and not BOTH. And Sphinx (in my opinion) SUCKS compared to the Comodo Firewall (older version) that I used to use.

  4. I've been testing xp-AntiSpy. It's a tool for disabling unnecessary, intrusive, and annoying Microsoft features. In most unbloated versions these are disabled by default and if any persist this type of tool is used. I don't think it has anything to do with the FDM connection problem. We were chatting about XP and the WPA2 issue here when asked for help getting the antenna working on my XP SP2 aka UE6.

  5. It seems FDM can't reach the web. As I said, have it's exception in the firewall and I've been testing EagleGet and now Internet Download Accelerator, they connect without a problem. I know that they removed a lot of things from this version of XP and sometimes that causes some bugs but in the past FDM worked perfectly. That's the strangest thing. A few months ago had to apply a security patch to be able to use a wall-breaking WiFi antenna to have WPA2 security protocol working which is not native to XP SP2. Maybe it's something related to that? Didn't know xp-AntiSpy. In UE 6 -and most trimmed versions- Windows Updates are completely disabled by default. I'll take a look at it. Nothing more beautiful than discovering essential software from that era.

  6. It gets installed on all of my XP systems/VMs before they are ever allowed internet access. I do not, under ANY CIRCUMSTANCE, allow access to "Windows Updates". Never have! Never will! And xp-AntiSpy is the "easiest" route to achieve that on new installs.

  7. Wow! Another redirect from my spare Android hooked through Wifi to my modem! The trick from before still works though!

  8. Try this trick to avoid redirects. Access profiles directly. For example these three, and then click log in from their accounts. https://msfn.org/board/profile/430186-ddraker/ https://msfn.org/board/profile/311648-astroskipper/ https://msfn.org/board/profile/84253-dave-h/ I don't know about the others since I read those three, I know because I had them bookmarked before.

  9. I now post my full specs I used to get it. It's iPhone. I obviously removed my IP. I can only tell it to @Tripredacus .

  10. This whole thing gets worse and worse! Now DuckDuckGo is infected, too! Earlier I was only getting the Golden Siamese Cat icon (probably the stamp of those darned Siamese hackers), now get the full redirect in my searches! They also hacked the direct search results I made for members' posts. @D.Draker and Dave-H, for example!

  11. I'm getting along really well with Windows X-Lite Micro 11. Works great. Tweaked it quite a bit and managed to achieve stability. It's making me think about abandoning XP. Believe it or not, I still can't do with it what I can do with XP. Win11 isn't as malleable. None of the subsequent versions were. They're more robust, sure. But that peak development era combined with XP's malleability is still holding up for me.

  12. And you know what? You're absolutely right! @D.Drakeralready conducted an investigation and concluded that Supermium is based on an old engine, yes, most likely 109, despite claiming to be otherwise! One of the most interesting facts, Supermium still needs experimental features to be turned on to even access modern sites, following this Dave_H asked the developer why, but the question is still un-answered! How could he ignore Dave??!??! I mean - our Dave! Dave_H's question on github. https://github.com/win32ss/supermium/issues/1279#issuecomment-2762924347

  13. Hi my beta testers, @Dave-H, @NotHereToPlayGames and @mina7601, Dave found problems with my configuration program Configure PopMenu.exe and the starter program ProxyPopMenu.exe. They can't process paths with with spaces in them. All my tested paths didn't have any blanks. Therefore I had to fix both programs. Furthermore the documentation in my package still had to be completed. I did that now. Therefore I'll send you a PM with a link of new update package. This archive contains only those files which have to be exchanged. Cheers, AstroSkipper

  15. @NotHereToPlayGames, did you ever use ProxHTTPSProxy before?
