You can't directly find such links on their homepage. I checked the current links and replaced the file name to the one I wanted. Here is a link to their portable 32-bit version 15.19.2.0: https://cloud.adlice.com/owncloud/index.php/s/QE2fq4D24A1IKEb/download?path=15.19.2.0&files=RogueKiller_portable32.exe.2 points

Bad news about eScanAV Anti-Virus Toolkit (MWAV)! Their free antimalware scanner can't be updated anymore. I also tried to manually do it with their (weekly) offline virus database updater but this doesn't work either. Here is a quotation from their website https://www.escanav.com/en/mwav-tools/download-free-antivirus-toolkit.asp: And if you update the programme without knowing any better, it will be updated, but rendered unusable with an error message that does not tell the truth.2 points

Seeking suggestions to improve video streaming experience. 1) ability to save presets specific to Computer A's speakers, Computer B's speakers, and Computer C's speakers 2) ability to prevent things like action movie LOUD scenes from being TOO LOUD 3) should work on multiple web sites (ie, not YouTube-only types of extensions) My current config uses two extensions that work decent for the most part. But one of the two extensions (Audio Compressor) has a tendency to LOCK UP (video freezes and/or stutters) and needs disabled/re-enabled quite frequently. Re-enabling also requires the streaming video web site to be reloaded. Currently using Audio Compressor version 0.1.28 in conjunction with Ears Audio Toolkit version 1.3.12. https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/audio-compressor/daomidlfpcfjchpalpjogmnhabkekbnn?hl=en https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/Ears: Bass Boost%2C EQ Any Audio!/nfdfiepdkbnoanddpianalelglmfooik1 point

OK, update time! I installed the portable version of version 16.5.4.0 and that seemed to work fine, although with the 'Protection not available in portable mode' notice. I then tried the installer version, which seemed to install fine, but with the warning 'the service is not running'. I looked and found the RogueKillerSvc.exe file in the program's folder. Running it seemed to work OK, but I now have 'Protection not available with this operating system'! It seems to do manual scans OK, so I don't know what that actually means. Of course there is no real-time protection as it's the free version.1 point

Curiouser and curiouser, as Alice famously said! I will investigate and report back. I will stick with the portable versions, as they will be easier to clean off the system if I decide not to proceed. I'm hoping that installing RogueKiller/Adlice Protect will not cause problems with it running side by side with Malwarebytes, as I don't want to uninstall that until I know I've got a viable replacement.1 point

@Dave-H The more recent portabel versions create a sub-directory called RogueKiller with some files, i.e. settings, logs, reports and signatures inside. But they do not load any drivers which, however, are necessary for real-time protection. Apart from that, I already posted a screenshot of the main interface of the portable version where I marked red: Schutz in Portable-Modus nicht verfügbar which means translated: Protection not available in portable mode. BTW, I found this in their changelog: Although the most recent installer version 16.5.4.0 wasn't able to load its driver when I tested it, it is possible that some previous installer of version 16 still work under Windows XP, even if the Adlice homepage now requires Windows 7 as a minimum requirement. Have a look here: Maybe. it is again an issue of the free version. What you can do is to try out the most recent installer version or a previous one as a 30-day trial version. Then you will definitely know and can report back here.1 point

Portables *can* be .exe's. Common "wrappers" that bundle everything into an .exe is Cameyo, Spoon, Thinapp (used to be called Thinstall), et cetera. If truly portable, any folder that the .exe creates will be created within the folder that contains the .exe and not to external locations like Program Files or Windows folders. If truly portable, any registy entries required are created "internally" and not within the OS's registry. Often times, the OS registy is TEMPORARILY used by portable apps, but the registry entries are REMOVED when the portable app is exited/closed.1 point

But the free versions of RogueKiller Anti-Malware don't offer any real-time protection. And they are quite restricted. They don't even offer a custom scan in the free version. If, for example, you want to perform a scan on drive c: only, you have to be very tricky. In any case, it can't be a replacement for Malwarebytes Premium 3.5 unless you purchase a licence.1 point

New build of post-deprecated Serpent/moebius for XP! * Notice: This repo will not be built on regular schedule, and changes are experimental as usual. ** Current moebius patch level should be on par with 52.9, but some security patches can not be applied/ported due to source milestone differences between versions. The most recent version of RogueKiller Anti-Malware is 16.5.4.0 which doesn't seem to run properly under Windows XP. Due to my tests, I can confirm that RogueKiller Anti-Malware 15.19.2.0 runs well under Windows XP. I have already updated my article accordingly. Since the 16.x.x.x versions, Windows 7 is required as a minimum according to their homepage. Greetings from Germany, AstroSkipper1 point

yesterday i can successfully boot my 98 from nvme! 0) (early) i convert my nvme gpt disk with installed win10 to mbr type, w/o data loss. unfortunatelly, i use already existed win10 recovery partition for new 98 copy - format as fat32 lba 545 mb at end of disk. it was wrong. 1) (yesterday) i move win10 ntfs part at disk end (cant delete it - there is value data), make new fat32 CHS part 500 mb at disk begin, format it and copy existed 98 folder from other disk. 2) at start i forget copy new build of SweetLow's driver, so use build w/o vsd, and after boot get many bsods "write error on disk C:" and garbage in file system. after SweetLow told about, i update driver, and get properly work 98 in protected mode. also verify booting in safe mode - here also all ok. now i will try grow this partition to 8 and then to 20 gb, for new tests.1 point

They say you need to purchase Supermium Plus Package subscription for €5 / month (plus VAT) first, then they claim it works. Because "Supermium Portable-Ready and XP Installer" is included there. https://github.com/win32ss/supermium/issues/178#issuecomment-19131891811 point

Total Commander or other file manager does these kind of comparison too. They compare the checksum of two files.1 point

You have to compare the file "wuaueng.dll" in folder system32 with the patched one from archive Restore_WU_XP.7z. The version number of unpatched and patched file are the same. So it can't be used for comparing. Therefore try a binary comparison! You have to be sure that the patched version of archive Restore_WU_XP.7z has been copied definitely to these folders. Or do it manually!1 point
