You're very welcome, the max. TDP for 780 is 250W, 5.73% idling is about 14 watt, which is very near to yours, and absolutely fine for a 28nm GPU.3 points

@AstroSkipper @Multibooter What is the processor model on your computers? Fortunately, I have a lot of computers at my disposal. I have dug the subject of the hidden window. I installed VT Hash Check on my oldest desktop computer (Sempron 2800+ Socket A release in 2004). By a double-click on the main executable, the configuration window is displayed. But only the first time, as long as the configuration file "%Appdata%\Boredom Software\VT hash\Config.dat" is not created. Afterwards, by a double-click on the main executable, a process is created but no window. If I delete, move or rename the configuration file, a double-click on the main executable works again but only once. Once the configuration file is created, you have to use the parameter --prefs to access the configuration window. Can you confirm this? I also installed the software on a fourth laptop (Core 2 Duo P8600 release in 2008) On this laptop, the window of the settings is not hidden like on the laptops with Core i5 from the first (2010) and second (2011) generation that I'm using for testing VT Hash Check. The problem doesn't exist with CPUs from 2006/2007 and up. I can't do anything for that, the problem is linked to the architecture of the CPU. Regards2 points

@genieautravail Long time ago, I downloaded a package of DOS auxiliary tools. Inside this package was the Window.exe tool. I can't remember from where exactly. But I always download programmes only from trusted sources and developers. I now have large archives with all kinds of tools. These little tools are simply great and can be of help when programming new projects. A good source for command line tools is GitHub and DosTips. However, since the end of March, DosTips's certificate has unfortunately expired, which is of course immediately recognised and warned by all browsers. Not really a problem for me. I hope this will be fixed soon.2 points

I have updated the YouTube files in the last XP-compatible PotPlayer version some days ago, taken from the most recent PotPlayer release. It works like a charm. No problems with cookies or anything else here. BTW, this last XP-compatible, slightly older PotPlayer is still the best media player under Windows XP, IMHO.2 points

All is working here fine. Downloading, unzipping and so on. If you get a message "permission denied", then it is a limitation by your system for whatever reason. Maybe, by your security software or by some security policies. I don't know. I only can confirm that on a normal Windows XP installation, all commands executed by the scripts are working as intended. So, the problem is unfortunately on your side. Check your security settings! And here is a proof for what I said above: @Cixert As you can see, downloading and unzipping automatically by the script works like a charm. Please come and get your special treatment!2 points

When I use your sequence the Settings window does become also visible, with both my old Pentium III CPU (around year 1999/2000) and with the more recent dual core Intel Pentium Dual CPU E2200 @2.20GHz, released by Intel in mid-June 2007. I had replaced the P4 CPU, originally in the desktop, with this E2200, newly bought in March 2008. So this hidden window issue exists with CPUs at least up to 2008, if it's caused by the CPU, but you found a good workaround and it's not an issue of the upgrade WinXP SP2+SP3 vs WinXP SP3.1 point

On my oldest desktop computer, the hidden window appear too if I launch Explorer. So, this is the same problem. That confirm what I has written above about the architecture of the CPU. It's not the first time I see something like this. Regards1 point

I have completely changed and rewritten the original ytBATCH from eppic so that it now works perfectly with both YouTube downloaders youtube-dl and yt-dlp. All bugs and inconsistencies have been fixed by me. Especially the fact that the command line options of both downloaders are not identical, I have taken into account by assigning separate configuration files to each downloader. This allows the user to enter the desired options for each downloader and then receive the media files exactly as desired. ytBATCH for Windows XP is totally customised for the use of youtube-dl and yt-dlp, and ideal as a user interface for these two YouTube downloaders. And due to the new update module, the user can easily get the most recent versions of these two YouTube downloaders compatible with older OSes like Windows XP when ever wanted. This is very important regarding the permanent changes which are done by YouTube.1 point

I have test-installed VT Hash Check 1.67 (WinXP, genieautravail, 7Apr2025) on my old Inspiron 7500 laptop (Pentium 3, SSE-only). The program installs and works fine under SSE-only. The installation was into a dedicated sandbox of Sandboxie v5.22. I also created a special desktop shortcut, which loads and runs the Settings window in the sandbox, and pasted my API Key into the sandboxed Settings window. I then edited the registry so that I could run VT Hash Check in the sandbox by just -> right-clicking on the file to be checked -> Check File Hash, the same handling as when VT Hash Check is installed and run normally, outside of a sandbox. The reason for installing and running VT Hash Check in a sandbox was to identify any undesirable results, such as unusual files added to the sandbox. The yellow frame in the screenshot above indicates that VT Hash Check v1.67 is running in a sandbox. The message indicates "the file exceeds 128MB which is the default limit for uploading via API". Not sure whether this is still the current API limit. Details about creating a shortcut to the program in the sandbox and about the registry entries for starting the sandboxed program with a right-click entry added to the context menu of all file types will eventually be posted in the topic "Sandboxie under Windows XP". I found nothing conspicuous during my testing of VT Hash Check in the sandbox, the program is definitely OK. It's a very useful program and easy to use.1 point

Setting up ytBATCH for Windows XP And for all setting up (I deliberately avoid the term installing at this point since my downloader is actually portable) ytBATCH for Windows XP, here some more technical explanations in terms of the setup process. Executing the ytBATCH.bat file located in the main programme directory of the unpacked archive calls up the Launcher.bat file which decides apart from other tasks whether it is an initial setup or not. In the case of such an initial setup, it performs then an automatic, unique start of the file called Installer.bat which copies the unpacked folder to the %ProgramFiles% location if wanted by the user, generates a desktop shortcut and adjusts all additional shortcuts with different colour schemes in the subfolder lnk. After finishing its job, it then starts the FileDownloder.bat file which downloads, unpacks and stores all necessary files into the exe subfolder. All is automatically done by the script. The user has only to make some few decisions. Furthermore, all important things are explained by the output of the script. If the user decides to reinstall my YouTube downloader ytBATCH for Windows XP, both the complete programme folder and the desktop shortcut have to be deleted, or alternatively all files inside the exe subfolder and only the UserConfig.bat file inside the cfg subfolder have to be removed. The setup or reinstall routine has always to be started with the execution of the ytBATCH.bat file located in the main programme folder. And that means do not manually call up any of the batch files inside the bin subfolder! These files will be only executed by the batch files themselves. At no time does one of these need to be called up by a user. This also applies when everything is set up. Anyone who still manages to generate an error message while setting up ytBATCH for Windows XP after all these explanations has exceptional skills and should contact me urgently here in this thread for further treatment. And don't be afraid, all at no costs, of course! Cheers, AstroSkipper1 point

You're very welcome. I just don't think those 28nm cards would go that deep into idle modes. A 28nm chip is still a 28nm chip, GDDR5 VRAM is also power hungry. And 0.9W is more like for when the system boots up. GT710 is 19W, but what is there to downclock that much further? It's a very weak card to begin with. Probably, it's vaild for notebook versions? As there were both, 710 and 750 used in notebooks. https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/geforce-gt-710.c19901 point

14 watt is pretty much due to the additional memory size, otherwise it'd be 11 watt, too.1 point
-
I'd gladly help you, but I don't have a high end CPU or PC. My most "powerful" is Pentium G from 2013? 2014? Supposedly, I can push it hard (overclock to the max.), but them again, it's not far from that old Quad Core.1 point

What I am 100% certain of, - MPC-HC 64bit version decodes 10bit H265 faster than the 32bit counterpart, Try 64bit XP, maybe?1 point
-
I said quite sure, not 100% certain. It's easy to guess because nVidia is famous for making artificial restrictions for older OS in general, a goof example was the artificial rate refresh limit introduced for XP. Sorry, I don't have GTX960/50. I have a GTXTitan (Jan. 2013). And some time ago found a working 780 Ti in the local dumpster (E-waste). Both only support 8 bit H265, not 10 bit.1 point
