Source, in English: https://www.lemonde.fr/en/pixels/article/2025/02/07/paris-prosecutors-open-investigation-into-x-s-algorithms_6737910_13.html "Elon Musk's social media platform is being investigated by the Paris cybercrime unit, after being reported by an MP." By Aurélien Defer , Damien Leloup and Martin Untersinger Published on February 7, 2025, at 7:22 pm (Paris), updated on February 7, 2025, at 7:23 pm Lire en français "An investigation into the operation of social media platform X has been opened in Paris, broadcaster Franceinfo reported Friday, February 7. In the sights of the French investigators is the functioning of X's algorithms, "likely to have distorted the operation of an automated data processing system." The investigation has been entrusted to the Paris cybercrime unit (J3), whose "specialised judges and assistants (...) are carrying out initial technical checks," said the prosecutor's office." "At the heart of this investigation lies a legal innovation. Bothorel's alert is largely based on an analysis published on February 6 by legal expert and law professor Michel Séjean. In the specialized journal Dalloz, Séjean argued that under French law, distorting the operation of a recommendation algorithm on a social media platform can be punishable by the same penalties as computer hacking. According to this analysis, manipulating a platform's algorithm without the users' knowledge would be punishable under Article 323-2 of the French penal code, which punishes "hindering or distorting the operation of an automated data processing system." Until now, this article has been used exclusively to punish data theft and other forms of computer piracy."2 points

Alright! I must have mixed it up. Sorry for that! BTW, my other Windows XP computer is equipped exactly with this CPU on an ASUS A7N8X-E Deluxe motherboard. And it's still alive.2 points

It does not require VxKex or other kernelex to work. Very interesting investigation! It's about time we took a closer look at these social media platforms. And especially those like X/Twitter, whose misuse urgently needs to be exposed. I hope that European law and national law will be sufficient to put a stop to such platforms.1 point

Why do I report here in terms of my ytBatch for Windows XP mod? I have decided to make my mod available for all users. Since YouTube Downloaders compatible with Windows XP are rather rare and ytBatch is simply great, everyone should be able to download YouTube video or audio files in Windows XP. Especially when such great releases are made available by @nicolaasjan. Everything can be set in ytBatch for a very individualised media download. And ytBatch is very light in consuming resources and very fast. When my test phase is finished, I will publish ytBatch for Windows XP here in this thread. Greetings from Germany, AstroSkipper1 point

FYI, an update check of @Reino's ffmpeg SSE release is not necessary in ytBatch since his ffmpeg 7.1-2362 SSE release is the very last one. Unfortunately, his old Pentium 3 SSE AMD Athlon XP 3200+ computer has died which prompted him to stop creating new releases. This can be read here: https://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=2014523#post2014523 Therefore, my ytBatch for Windows XP mod downloads this last ffmpeg 7.1-2362 SSE release if it does not exist, and that was it. All that means ytBatch for Windows XP only looks for updates in terms of itself and @nicolaasjan's yt-dlp/youtube-dl releases if triggered by the user. However, an update of ytBatch for Windows XP itself should only be done manually otherwise my modifications will be overwritten mercilessly.1 point

I usually download videos from YouTube for years with free service https://www.y2mate.com/en949 Lately it started to use online protection from CloudFlare. Now with CloudFlare quackery i downloaded latest Supermium browser as installation package and during installation check "shortcut" option + ungoogled option. With it i can use sites with idiotic CloudFlare protection. So download this movies on your computer and watch it on your flat TV or computer. I really recommend watch that 2 movies, especially Where to Invade Next. I also want to note - that i give that link in Indivious Nadeko front-end. It works unreliably lately, but www.y2mate.com works even whith Indivious links! Alternatively you can just download this movies via torrent sites,1 point

Now even 360Chrome 13.5 don't work with Cloudfare - it's just don't show small window with Cloudfare check. Several days ago it worked with 360Chrome, but now it doesn't. Seems like a total war on alternative browsers by Cloudfare. As usual everything done for ours "security". In XXI century on West almost all negative things done for "security" - it's one of the most hated words in English language for me.1 point

ATTENTION. Cloudflare security check stopped working in New Moon and Serpent in January. I checked in Chrome - there it's working. Example: https://www.y2mate.com/youtube/oZaDX7cgJEo Press download green button and see how Cloudflare check looping endlessly. Roytam1, please, can you fix it? Serpent even crashed during that check. Edit: Ok. i noticed that New Moon crashes too, so i searched "Cloudflare" on Pale Moon forum and this is what i find: Pale Moon people are well aware of that issues and situation so far not resolved Cloudflare Verification Loop issues Cloudflare has decided to crash Pale Moon It's hard to believe in such levels of incompetence, probably Google and Cloudflare trying to destroy alternative browsers. At this point it safely to say that no company did not made more damage to internet as Google. They really go from "don't be evil" to "just be evil as f***". This monopolies can be defeated only by Superstates like USA and EU. But considering what happening last month in USA i must say it look disappointing.1 point

Numeronym! Precisely defined (just as we know you ) and mathematically interesting! I appreciate this kind of marginal note.1 point

Although I am actually not a friend of Google, I love to do many things by using a tablet. Apple is no choice to me for many reasons , so I am an Android user for many years. Searching the internet, researching and reading books or articles is the main intended purpose of my tablet. Many of my posts are written under Android and its most recent browsers. It's very comfortable and easy. As a respite from the Chrome or Chromium world, I then enjoy surfing with my UXP browsers under Windows XP.1 point

Hello @feodor2! Great to hear development is ongoing especially in terms of the JavaScript engine! Hope you are well despite all existing problems in our world In any case, I'm already very excited about a new release from Mypal 68. Best wishes and greetings from Germany, AstroSkipper1 point

I use Windows 7 or Android if Windows XP fails. To be honest, I do many things on my tablet under Android. I am a fan of UXP browsers for years. I use mainly New Moon 28, Serpent 52 and Serpent 55.1 point

Well , I didn't even have a cell phone for a very long time ! In the 1990s , when everyone around (including my parents and other relatives, girlfriends , friends and co-workers) had them , I still refused to use it. I do not like to be bothered or distracted . And even now all of them are almost always off.1 point

I think it does , I just don't use any of that . I can link you to the exact model: alcatel temporis 580 , white colour.1 point

I think your theory is right , the crashes could be XP related. But also maybe due to one's hardware . What is you hardware ? Doesn't say on your profile . Mine is Siemens PC (workstation from 2010) PCIe 2.0 x16 with Quad Xeon and 16GB DDR3 RAM + GTX Titan 6GB (the first titan ever made).1 point

Well , I did , no crashes so far. I can't post a screenshot because I'm limited . Do you know how to delete the old attachments ? I open the page with them , but there's no "delete" button , only buttons that link to their post and things like "sorting". 2mb total limit is '90s ...1 point

I replaced it a long time ago , but it had an odd (chinese, russian ?) character right before the string and since I do not have any chinese/russian fonts (and my HEX prog. doesn't support any odd languages , only Western European) , I can't say for sure , but it looked like a glitch in my HEX programme , when I was typing , the text was moving in that area : left - right !!! Can you imagine ? So I just typed all of the text in direct HEX mode and never got any glitches .1 point

I have a landline phone with a caller ID function , made by Alcatel , bought from a German hardware shop . I was so glad that I god rid of the d@mn Panasonic , because it demanded to change 3x1.5v batteries every 2months !!! And the Alcatel works without them at all , even though it has a much better LCD display ! Also , many simple cell phones with buttons. A ton of old Nokias and Philipses from 2001 to 2007, I'm terribly sorry , I do not even want to remember their models. Old Philips phones have the best long lasting batteries . The only dumbphones I had (or even forced) to buy were just meant to make gifts (parents , girlfriends , etc). Yes , my parents use various smartphones , lol !1 point

No , youtube just loads less scripts and bloat if it "sees" older user agents . Try to spoof your UA with something older , while using v.13.1106. And choose x86 UA strings. I know for sure youtube and other sites load less fat to 32-bit systems .1 point

They do not show us things like these here at the front pages . Why ? Perhaps because we also sent troops there and now it's all in vain . Dutch men dead and all for nothing ! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qN3ca56n-ls1 point

What do you mean "two" ? I understand you do not like dark themes , but take a closer look at the upper part , it's plenty of videos playing at the same time.1 point
