I was once bombarded by the Russian dating scam emails, from some place called Yfa, Ufa, not sure I remember correctly now. It happened after I left the on-line dating scene, somewhere in 2010 or so. So I found the sender with the help of my boys I served in the military, the one that gathered intel. Then wrote to the sender with the demand to stop. It all stopped.3 points

Don't you always do browser builds every week every time there's a change to the source code? I'm only just ordering cause you always build every week I can hardly believe what I'm reading here. A user of browser versions for which no money is charged and which have been developed on a purely voluntary basis for years (and this is of course very time-consuming!) has zero rights to order anything. I regard such comments as impertinent and disrespectful. What you can do with it is actually just this: And to give such claims a real reference again, new versions will come when they come. Be happy if something comes at all! AstroSkipper2 points

Oh, and probably it's fine to copy-paste it here. It will contain the sender IP, provider, etc.2 points

In such cases, I always check the email header first. Google: how to check email headers.2 points

Yep, same here. It does not work in Mypal 68. You can test in Firefox 68 Portable and up if it is working at all. As I already wrote in my thread, not all extensions offered as compatible can be installed in Mypal 68.2 points

@feodor2 I don't know if you have read my post quoted above. The logger in the most recent version of uBO 1.61.2 has now completely stopped working in Mypal 68.14.4b and 68.14.5b. Neither when running single-process mode or multi-process mode. I therefore reverted to the last officially compatible version 1.46, as uBO is unfortunately useless without a functioning logger.2 points

Unfortunately, you are completely wrong. Extensions from the Pale Moon website are legacy ones for browsers based on Firefox up to version 56 as, for example @roytam1's browsers or Pale Moon itself, of course, whereas you need to install so called webextensions which you get from here: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/ Of course, you can install only those that are compatible with Mypal 68 which is based on Firefox 68. But on this website, you will clearly see which extensions are compatible or not. If you are interested in more information about extensions and more targeting Mypal 68, then you can read in my special thread I created exclusively for this purpose: https://msfn.org/board/topic/183657-mypal-68-in-windows-xp-custom-buttons-and-extensions/ Cheers, AstroSkipper2 points

Since I was planning to make the switch to Windows 11 in the near future, I was really hoping that Microsoft would give me some good reasons to like Windows 11. Unfortunately, instead they have given me a very good reason to hate Windows 11. For a good understanding of what I am referring to, I recommend watching this video: CoPilot+ PCs, Windows Recall, Keylogging Privacy Invasions! Here's a short description from the above web page: "Microsoft made some recent changes to Windows 11 which abuses privacy in multiple ways. But remember that Microsoft is not alone. The move to break our privacy with AI is something the competition started with first. Now they're playing catch up but doing so in the most aggressive way with the help of OpenAI."1 point

Hi there! I met an error while integrating the entries_wmp11.ini (Version 1.01) inside WMP11 x64-AddonENU-v2.7z (Last Updated Jan. 16 2024) from https://archive.org/download/5eraphupdatepacks into Windows XP Pro x64 SP2 ISO with NLite, telling me that "Missing expected file: wpdconns.dll" as well as other files written inside the [FileCopy] Section. How can I solve this error? EDIT: My mistake, Selecting the whole .7z addon pack instead of decompressing it and selecting the .ini file works for me in NLite environment.1 point

Your scenario LOADS THE PAGE FOR ME. If I let my guard down! Because it is an HTTP site and I generally DO NOT LOAD NON-HTTPS web sites! Not sure if that really counts as a "good example". An HTTPS site with an HTTP IP-ADDRESS hosted link is BAD PRACTICE.1 point

Listen, I hear ya... No, please, I said listen... I ignored your "reply" all of yesterday, I guess I chose to break that silence this morning... Listen... I've "been there, done that". I was part of the "death to IE" Firefox userbase back in the day. I hear the same tone in your reply. Again, I hear ya, I had to sift through my registry to manually axe sixty-some references to "Google Updater" and that was from running a so-called "portable" version of Chrome! "...even under torture" reply = no help to anyone = pushing an agenda = no service to me = no service to you = no service to any reader hereof = et cetera... My very own "death to IE" narrow-minded mentality served nobody, not even myself. Again, "been there, done that". Whether "you" see it or not, I am no longer that single-focused narrow-minded "Firefox Only, Death to IE" user. I've used Netscape, AOL, IE, Firefox, Sleipnir, Maxthon, GreenBrowser, Pale Moon, New Moon, Serpent, Basilisk, 360Chrome, Ungoogled, Chrome, Iron, Opera, Edge, Flock, LibreWolf, Floorp, IceCat, K-Meleon, Lunascape, SlimBrowser, ane more! I'm not talking trial runs of a few hours, I've used every single one in that list for MONTHS ON END as my then-default ONE-AND-ONLY web browser. [edit: I take that back - Flock, LibreWolf, Floorp, and K-Meleon were DAYS, all others were MONTHS] I'm not sure why you aren't "hearing" this, because I've stated it more than once, I am NOT interested in "this browser for this, that browser for that". As far as MODERN forks, IceCat did come VERY close. But it does not work for ALL of my web sites and I will have ONE browser for ALL of my web sites - it really is THAT simple. So far, that ONE-for-ALL remains Ungoogled v122. Turns out that all versions (at least back as far as v94 and as new as v131) ALL work for ALL of my needed web sites. So long as I conjunct them with the PortableApps "loader" and not the winPenPack "loader". And to prevent the PortableApps "loader" from falling down the same rabbit hole that took the winPenPack "loader", I will likely create my own loader using AutoHotkey or recompile one of my own old Opera loaders. We all have options. One size will never fit all.1 point

I was able to finally get it after creating a mediafire account and through URL manipulation. Hello! You are the very first reporting problems with the download of files I hosted on MediaFire. In any case, all my files are clean and free of malware. If MediaFire really reports something like this, it is very wrong. These are the system requirements for ProxHTTPSProxy's PopMenu TLS 1.3 3V3. So, it actually should run on your Athlon XP computer. Especially, since @cmalex made it compatible with SSE only processors. And again, you are the very first reporting compatibility problems with ProxHTTPSProxy's PopMenu TLS 1.3 3V3 running on Windows XP SP3 machines with an Intel SSE2 processor. My main Windows XP computer is equipped with an Intel Pentium 4 SSE2 processor, and ProxHTTPSProxy's PopMenu TLS 1.3 3V3 works there like a charm . BTW, it was developed and tested on this computer. So, I fear you did something wrong, or all your machines are missing something.1 point

All fine and I understand what do you mean with the verified MSFN account. But this is only your point of view and maybe point of view of some other people here, because you and them are active here for some time and know this place and trust it. But let’s start thinking about the global reality. And the global reality is most of the people probably don’t even know MSFN forums exists. Some of them don’t even prefer to use Github as it should be used. The example is the Chinese guy here: https://github.com/i486/VxKex/issues/36#issuecomment-2508751433 But it doesn’t mean he wants to make trouble for anybody. I fully agree with you, that system kernel extension is very important part of the system and if somebody wants to make bad things, this is really good opportunity. But on the other side Win7 is no more something masses are using. Those , who are still using Win7, usually got reasons for that and that means there is more percentage of users with some higher level skills, included debugging. They can check and inspect the final product.. Also look what MS did with newer versions of Windows. Tons of crap added, tons of telemetry etc. Where is the trust anymore? That is for example one of the reasons I’m still using Win7 and I don’t plan to switch to more recent versions of Windows at all. I’m using Linux distros on server machines, but on desktop I still prefer Win7 and I hope it should be good at least for few more years. In my opinion if the Win7 extended kernel project might be working and live project for the future, then we need everybody who got skills and time to work on it. Such a project cannot be single man project in long time period. And as far as it is kept open source, there is imho enough ways to control the possible bad attempts. I also think that all those rumors and saying this is “fake” - this is not “fake” might be something what keeps some people away from the project, because they simply don’t want such a bul***** in their lives. MS did with newer versions of Windows what they did. It is no more what it was before. And there are people who never accept the new Windows concept and if those people want keep using last non-crippled Windows version – Windows 7, then those people must trust each other and cooperate together. We are these people. That’s the only way we can keep Win7 alive for new versions of applications and continue to use it.1 point

Just for your information! All solutions, be it UC.JS scripts, extensions or CSS stylesheets, I have posted here are definitely working up to the version 68.14.4b. Unfortunately, the most recent version Mypal 68.14.5b causes breakages. (German saying. Translated: There is the worm in it!) Therefore, be careful when updating Mypal 68! A backup of your profile should be done first. Do not post here any issues regarding this version! Mypal 68.14.5b contains changes which break different things like extensions, scripts and styles. Therefore, it should be used with caution in production systems. I have installed it for testing purpose only and for reporting issues. All issues should be reported in the Mypal 68 thread or to the issues on GitHub.1 point

I can't say if these extensions I found do their job correctly in modern browser. This thread is about Mypal 68 which of course isn't a modern browser. It is more an old browser modified to be a bit more recent, especially its JavaScript engine. So, do you look for such an extension targeting Mypal 68?1 point

Besides rebasing several DLL files and triggering the internal memory minimisation feature, there is a third option to reduce RAM consumption in Mypal 68 called discarding tabs. Tabs, which have been loaded but not used at the moment, can be successfully discarded in multiprocess mode without disappearing in the tab bar. If it is done correctly, these tabs do no longer occupy any RAM. I found a uc.js script and a few extensions which could satisfactorily fulfill this job.1 point
-
BTW, I reorganised the chrome subfolder inside my Mypal 68 profile folder. From now on, all my uc.js script files are located in a subfolder called "Scripts" such as all css files have already been stored in a subfolder called "CSS". If someone is interested how that can be done, just ask here.1 point

The download package MYPAL_68_CB_requirements.7z from my first post is actually working as it should. But I found in one file unnecessary code which was implemented by the original creator for enabling pre-Lion fullscreen mode mode under macOS. However, this code inside the file userChrome.js spits out an error in the Browser Console under Windows XP, which I could fix in two different ways. The most simple one is to remove this code since Mypal 68 targets the Windows OSes. The other one is to add some missing code which I also did just for fun. But as I already said, this is actually nonsense. Anyway! Here is the error when using the original userChrome.js file: And here is a screenshot after removing code from the original userChrome.js file and restarting the browser: You can see the message "ReferenceError: XPCOMUtils is not defined" has gone. After some weeks of testing, I can confirm that all is working perfectly. If you are interested in and want to also do the fix manually, then you can do it as follows: Old content of the userChrome.js file: // Copyright (c) 2017 Haggai Nuchi // Available for use under the MIT License: // https://opensource.org/licenses/MIT // Set "useLionFullScreen" in the same way that it's done in // chrome://browser/content/browser-fullScreenAndPointerLock.js XPCOMUtils.defineLazyGetter(FullScreen, "useLionFullScreen", function() { return false; }); New content of the userChrome.js file: // Copyright (c) 2017 Haggai Nuchi // Available for use under the MIT License: // https://opensource.org/licenses/MIT Additionally, I will update the MYPAL_68_CB_requirements.7z package as soon as possible. Greetings from Germany, AstroSkipper1 point

@feodor2 I am not sure if you aware of this. The logger of uBlock Origin 1.60 does not work in Mypal 68.14.4b when running single-process mode. Neither in the officially last compatible version 1.46 of uBlock Origin. In multiprocess mode, the logger is running fine.1 point

HideTabbarWithOneTab In my download archive, I found an old but still working UC.JS script called HideTabbarWithOneTab.uc.js. This script hides the tab bar including the Open a new tab button, if only one tab is open, and shows it again, if a further tab is loaded. According to its author the script is based on the extension of the same name. Since Firefox 23, the tab bar can no longer be hidden if only one tab is open. This script solves this problem. In contrast to many pure CSS implementations as recently discussed in another thread starting from this post, it works perfectly in Mypal 68. The HideTabbarWithOneTab.uc.js file has to be copied in the Mypal's profile subfolder chrome. It has been tested by me and is fully working. Here is a short animated GIF file to show the script in action: Requirements: The package MYPAL_68_CB_requirements.7z from the first post of this thread. Update notification! As already reported, the Root Certificates have been updated and are now from 28-05-2024. Here again a screenshot: I totally forgot to update my self-created, offline Root Certificate Updaters in the section 11.2.4. Downloads related to Root Certificate Updates (in the first post of this thread). I have just made up for that. Cheers, AstroSkipper1 point

Update notification Mypal 68.14.0b has been released on Codeberg.org, Therefore, I updated the first post of this thread. In this version, the automatic update of extensions is not enabled. If you are interested in re-enabling this feature, simply read this instruction: Restoring the manual and automatic update function for extensions in Mypal 68.13.3b Altough written by me for an older release, this instruction is still valid for Mypal 68.14.0b. Cheers, AstroSkipper1 point

That may be true if you're using some sort of repack (the file may have been replaced already). But repacks may vary , so it's better be safe than sorry.1 point

Then why are you posting here? Move along! This is XP subforum, not W10! This is ridiculous statement. Games like Metro 2033 or Metro Last Light would run great on GTX 980Ti, for example. And Between first Metro and 980Ti is more than 5 years, in which XP era was ended. From this post it seems that you even don't know that all Maxwell videocards, including 980Ti and Titan X, work with XP cause Nvidia drivers support them until summer 2016. You might be surprised bye posts of bluebolt in XP64 subforum here, warning SSD, CPU and GPU that running fine on XP64 may shell-shock you. I also check all your 5 posts on this forum in first 4 you talking about running different low-end videocards on XP, in your last post your argue with me. I really annoyed by your last 2 posts, especially including with this quote: It is obviously from this post of yours that you still do not fully understand that 750 not "outperfoming" 10XX on XP, But 10XX just run in VGA compatibility mode - without 3D and, probably, 2D acceleration. Please, stop giving other people advises and opinions without, at least partially, understanding the problem. Now finally i wanna explain why i write my first post here. You see, i read articles last years about how very skilled programmers make old games work better by write a lot of code, or finish never finished and never released games for old consoles, or write new games for consoles etc. A lot of this stuff is on reddit retrodev. One guy create a lot of patches for NFS3 by himself and wrote tonshit of code for that. This is impressive. So i ask myself - if some guys for free write A LOT of hi-skill code for abandoned games and platforms, maybe somebody in the world can examine both 368 drivers and say could it possible, with relatively low effort, adapt XP 368 to Pascal.1 point
-
If you use Pascal (10xx) videocard on windows XP with successfully modded drivers you will get no 3D-perfomance. I just want to clarify this to people who will read it in the future: NO 3D Perfomance. This is cause THERE IS NO PASCAL DRIVER FOR WINDOWS XP that is capable to do 3D-perfomance. Because Nvidia did not create that driver. However i want to say something unusual. Since there is interest for so many people for XP Pascal Driver maybe some measures can be done? 368.81 for XP does not support Pascal. However 368.81 for more modern Windows system support Pascal videocards. So MAYBE it is possible for experienced programmers to modify XP version, using Win7 version of a driver as donor? Like yea, i know it's hi-tech stuff. But there is programmers that work on wine, reactOS etc. Could they be attracted or hired through crowdfunding? Maybe the size of a work not so big? I know it sounds crazy, but who knows, right?1 point
