  1. At present, yt-dlp devs have dropped support for any CPython version < 3.9; the one currently being used by nicolaas to compile the WinXP/Vista 32-bit builds is a custom py3.9_x86 SSE+ compile (by another person, cmalex), so with it the yt-dlp code "should" work if invoked directly from source... Building the yt-dlp source code into an x86 .EXE is another thing altogether; support for the py2exe module has also been dropped; PyInstaller is being used to build yt-dlp_x86.exe and that module, by default, inserts the SSE2 instructions set to the binaries produced; no way is known currently to build with PyInstaller with just SSE; older PyInstaller versions are either incompatible with py3.9 itself or (on the ones tried) the build process itself fails prematurely for undefined reasons/with no evident solution available ...

  2. Nothing, and don't get down with it! My one damaged eye gets worse, I try to spare the one that is somewhat normal, so I listen to the rain, it's indeed beautiful. The problem is, it's hard to enjoy it in full with my tinnitus (the consequences of my long time artillery services). So I try to sit in the dark and meditate, perform black magic rituals. You oughta try sometime.

  3. I'm sad to report that WinRAR v7.01 is the last version to support NT 6.0, which comprises both Windows Vista SP2 and Windows Server 2008 (R1) SP2; the official vendor site no longer links to any 32-bit binaries of that specific version, while links to some localised v7.01 64-bit binaries are still being offered until the next major version, 7.10, goes out of the beta testing stage (currently at v7.10b2); 32-bit (and 64-bit, once they vanish from the official download page ) v7.01 binaries (installers) can still be accessed via the not-so-public rarlab FTP repo below: ftp://ftp.rarlab.com/rar/ (you need a browser with FTP protocol support, e.g. IE9, Fx52esr, UXP browsers, old Chrome, Supermium, Thorium, etc. or a dedicated FTP client) WinRAR v7.10 not only drops support for NT 6.0, but for the 32-bit OS architecture, too : https://www.rarlab.com/rarnew.htm WinRAR is a payware, of course, but still offers a 40-day, feature-full, trial period mode ; if you already have an existing licence (unless extremely old), it should still be compatible on Vista with the EoS version 7.01; NB that WinRAR is only required if you want to compress to the rar5 archive format; to decompress, free tools like 7-zip can be used (BTW, 7-zip has been recently updated to v24.09, still compatible with Vista SP2 32-bit ) ; FTR, WinRAR had dropped support for WinXP with v6.10, back in Jan 2022 (with v6.02 being the EoS version for that OS) ...

  5. Dude, where did you came from with this idea that i am comparing them to germans? I am comparing orcs and putler to nazi's and hitler. Führer is a good German word, it translates to Leader, leader, driver, a locomotive driver for example, machinist of a steam engine, military rank, etc. It's not suitable to call that entity "Führer". Besides, according to the Russian Constitution, the legitimacy of that individual you called "Führer" had ended in 2007. Use simple math. 1999 + 2x4 = 2007. Now regarding the topic, I may start to like Russia, despite I helped your country 2x times. Thanks for letting me know Russia does de-pop on both sides, less people, more oxygen, good for the climate!

  7. Hello @George King! That was the very first action I did! I removed unnecessarily embedded files from all self-created programs. But anyway, thanks for the hint!

  11. Annoying Sandboxie error message "Invalid comand line parameter" Many .rar etc downloads contain dubious stuff in nested subfolders with long path names. Very often, after having extracted a .rar and then, when trying to run a dubious file inside a long path name, Sandboxie does NOT run the file, but displays the annoying error message "Invalid command line parameter". This error message occurs under Sandboxie v5.22 (WinXP, SSE-only) and v5.40 (WinXP, SSE2), when the total path length (excluding the filename and the drive letter) exceeds 122 characters. The error message "Invalid command line parameter" does not indicate that something is wrong with the file itself, only that the path length is too long. When running many dubious little files, maybe 60% of the error messages generated by Sandboxie are "Invalid command line parameter". WORKAROUND: Copy the dubious little file into a temporary folder with a short path name, then run it sandboxed. I have attached a picture of this annoying error message, when you run notepad.exe sandboxed in a subfolder exceeding 122 characters. When the path length is reduced to 122 characters, notepad.exe runs OK in a sandbox.

  12. YouTube just doesn't work this way, in fact it is exactly backwards from what you want. I have never had a google account of any kind, including YouTube, and have never been blocked from watching any video I wanted to see. And trying to put restrictions on her account (if it is even possible) isn't likely to work for very long - at age 11, she is old enough to figure out that she can just go view them without logging in. You might be better off having a conversation with her about why some content is not suitable and convincing her to avoid it on her own. Especially since a channel blacklist is about as useless as an AV that tries to work by listing known malware - there will always be a new item that is not on the list yet. You might still be able to set screen time limits, or per-app time limits, with whatever parental controls are in Windows or Android, though. Just not channel-specific blocks.

  13. https://audiophiles.co/flac-vs-wav/ Key Features of WAV 1. Uncompressed Audio: WAV files typically store audio data in an uncompressed format, preserving the original audio quality without any loss. This makes WAV ideal for professional audio work where maintaining the highest possible fidelity is crucial. 2. PCM Encoding: Most WAV files use Pulse Code Modulation (PCM) encoding, which captures analogue audio signals by sampling them at regular intervals and quantizing the samples to digital values. This results in a faithful digital representation of the original analogue waveform

  17. You mean you did not receive the "Do you still want to move or copy the folder?" message? Correct! If you have 7-Zip installed, the easiest way is to double-click onto the archive and copy the folder "ProxHTTPSProxy_TLS_1_3_1_5_220717_PopMenu_3V3" inside my archive to any location by using a file manager. In Total Commander, it even works without 7-Zip. No need to rename anything! No conflicts at all!

  18. If I spend many hours or more writing long articles, posts or documentations in English, which is definitely not my mother tongue, then the user or reader should at least make the effort to use a translation service if their language skills are not sufficient. Cheers, AstroSkipper

  19. Read first the document file READ ME FIRST!.txt! If your language skills are not sufficient, translate it using Google Translator or much better DeepL! At the moment, there is no video clip, and frankly, I don't like that! Cheers, AstroSkipper

  20. Hello to all users of my recently released program package ProxHTTPSProxy's PopMenu TLS 1.3 3V3! The last time, when I released ProxHTTPSProxy's PopMenu 3V1, the feedback was rather poor, i.e. almost non-existent. This time, I really need your feedback! Please, post your opinions, experiences, observations, further suggestions of improvement and so on! And, I would like to know whether you like my program package or not, and why! In any case, it was not an easy work, I changed many things, and I spent a lot of time to do that all. And you certainly know an author of software lives from the feedback of the users! Especially, when everything is provided free of charge! In any case, I am very curious about your posts. Thanks in advance! Cheers, AstroSkipper

  22. Thanks for your finds! I already found them, too! Have been corrected! And I found a lot more! The name of the archive can have the same as one of its subfolder without any problems. After downloading, you can simply extract the complete archive to any folder. Its name doesn't matter using 7-Zip or WinRAR! Of course, you are not allowed to create two subfolders of the same name in one folder. Frankly, I neither extract files or folders to the desktop nor use the Windows feature "Extract to". This feature was disabled from the very first. Anyway, I can't reproduce that because there is no "Extract to" in my Windows XP. I tested extracting with 7-Zip, and there are no issues here. BTW, all file operations I have to perform in my system will be done by using a file manager, in my case Total Commander. I always download such files in my "Download Archive", located on another drive, and can do with them whatever I want to. I never download files into my system partition, I separate that very strictly. If you have 7-Zip installed, the easiest way is to double-click onto the archive and copy the folder "ProxHTTPSProxy_TLS_1_3_1_5_220717_PopMenu_3V3" inside to any location by using the Explorer or a file manager. In Total Commander, it even works without 7-Zip! PS: You can rename my archive, too, of course!

  23. No problem! Do it when you have time! You are my beta tester, and your opinion is very important for me! PS: And, I forgot to mention that in such long posts the extension Grammar and Spell Checker - LanguageTool stops working! It is limited to a number of words in the free version.

  25. Hello to all! Although my program package eventually passed the beta test, I still had to make significant changes due to false positives of several AV scanners: All unnecessarily embedded files have been removed from my self-created executables. Changes in calling up other programs. In all my affected programs, protection against code injection has been improved. This leads to preventing of future "space bugs", too! Different issues which could have been noticed only in very rare cases, have been fixed. All unnecessary code has been removed. New bugs I additionally found have been fixed. Autostart entries of PopMenu and the new Min2Tray, automatically added to the registry by my configuration program, have been fixed in regards to the "space bug". All message windows of my programs have been resized and adjusted for a better visibility. All my self-created program files have been recompiled by using a different compiler. All these measures have led to a reduction in the number of false positives reported by AV scanners. Now I am testing deeply my program package from scratch. Cheers, AstroSkipper
