  1. No problems for me, including posting random HTTPS links. https://www.pcmag.com/picks/chrome-edge-firefox-opera-or-safari-which-browser-is-best

  2. I'd kind of be more interested in a Before And After benchmark score. An illustration of "this is what Firefox scored before making THIS LIST OF CHANGES and now this is my after score". I want want WANT to make IceCat v115 faster than Chrome. So far, I CAN NOT! So by all means, "spell it out for me" because I really do want to migrate to IceCat v115 (then v128 only *after* Official Firefox releases their "next" ESR Branch at which time IceCat drops v115 and picks up v128).

  3. Downloads still working for me with a build from 2024-05-22. I'm addicted to watching web videos every day while eating. But I'll be damned if I watch them in the browser with advertisements every 5 minutes and fans spinning and dropped frames.

  4. I can't say what's going wrong in your system as I never have used Windows 2008. And I don't know whether New Moon 28 targets this OS at all. Under Windows XP, the "Make New Moon the default browser" button has always worked like a charm. And if this feature didn't work in other browsers, I either edited the respective registry entries manually or I used the tool Default Browser 1.8. Unfortunately, this tool is for Windows XP only but maybe, there is also a tool which does this job under your OS. Here are important registry locations which were set by me for using New Moon 28 as default browser under Windows XP: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Applications\palemoon.exe HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\http HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\https HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\ftp HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\PaleMoonHTML HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\PaleMoonURL HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\Applications\palemoon.exe HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\http HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\https HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\ftp HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\PaleMoonHTML HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\PaleMoonURL HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Clients\StartMenuInternet\Pale Moon web browser HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Clients\StartMenuInternet\PALEMOON.EXE Under the registry path HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Clients\StartMenuInternet all registered standard web browsers are listed. So if you want to be offered a standard browser, you have to enter the corresponding one there. BTW, New Moon's native function for setting it as default browser is SetDefaultBrowser(). When checking its source code, you will exactly know what actions the "Make New Moon the default browser" button performs.

  5. Did you try VBEMP to rule-out graphics card driver problems? HDA2.DLL is a driver made by 'Watler' for Win3x !!!! Use on Windows 9x is FULLY experimental. But your system MUST be stable before trying HDA2.DLL. Updating Windows 98SE makes no sense, start with a basic SETUP /p i installation and VBEMP as graphics driver. Further 98KRNLUP.EXE KRNLUP98, BHDD31.ZIP, RLOEW's two disk patches (for IDE and SATA) and his memory patch, if needed with the /M switch. BTW: link to HDA2.DLL's in HDADRV9L.zip and HDADRV9J.zip on my Google-Drive: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1kvmrcmZbnkNm8Y2z3uyPHNKjxNR70MVM?usp=drive_link Be aware HDAICOUT.HDA in the zip's are Watler's examples, not my version(s)! HDADRV9L.zip is same as the current version on Watlers site: http://turkeys4me.byethost4.com/programs/?i=1

  6. @feodor2 Unfortunately, I have to report that the website amazon.de is no longer working in Mypal 68 as before. I tested it in both versions 68.14.4b and 68.14.5b. Here is one link as an example: https://www.amazon.de/Original-Blumax-DMW-BCG10E-Panasonic-DMC-TZ31/dp/B00I04P3ZU?nsdOptOutParam=true&sr=8-3 When I try to open this page, the loading process is a torture compared to how it was months ago. It always stays at 100% CPU utilisation regardless of whether the website has been fully loaded (or appears to be fully loaded) or not. Although my hardware is weak (single core CPU Pentium 4 Northwood 2.8 GHz), amazon.de has worked tolerably well in Mypal 68 in the past. BTW, in New Moon 28, this site is loading much faster and comes to an end without 100% CPU utilisation. As far as I noticed, the issue is related to the loading of images and media. Even the additional use of uBlock Origin couldn't help, unless you neuter the site to the point of informationlessness. P.S.: With the help of additional user scripts and own filters for uBO, I was able to tame a bit the amazon.de website. Now, the loading process finally ends at some point. But all loaded images and media definitely lead to extremely higher processor utilisation than before. The entire loading process still takes some minutes.

  7. But then again, not worth if it's very old, better find the same model on the used market. As it could be costly to buy the good caps.

  8. A very unfortunate event indeed! If you already checked it with another PC (not only the card), then I'd start with more in-depth testings, like replacing the caps and measuring their capacity/ripples.

  11. No, depending on the Chrome version, their user folder path is changed. 00 / 2E HEX (highlighted)

  12. I thought it is only a real installer which has to be executed to get a working installation. Most installers write entries in the registry which are needed for proper installation. However, I didn't check the Supermium installer so far.

  13. TBH, this is more about Windows 10 on such old computers. Watching YouTube in browsers on my hardware needs special settings and methods. In Thorium, I would have to install scripts and an efficient ad blocker like uBlock Origin to make it work as it should if at all. YouTube has become a monster in recent years, and it's just bad. I hate all the changes that have been made there. I would like to test Supermium as well but only in portable mode. No installer, please. I hate Chrome installers. That's why I tried Thorium.

  14. Never tried before uBlock Origin Lite. Always the standard version. But I will test it. However, I believe that the page loading speed is a general problem of Chrome and not of uBO, especially on old, weak hardware.

  15. I have just updated the Chrome XP API Adapter from version 1.2.0.5035 to 1.2.0.5045. Now, the page chrome://system/ works as it should and shows besides other information the RAM usage more compact than using the internal task manager. I have opened two tabs and eight extensions enabled in Thorium. The total RAM consumption is around 381 MB, also checked via Process Hacker. Here is a screenshot: I think such a RAM consumption is appropriate for a modern Chrome browser under Windows XP and remains within reasonable limits. However, the page loading behaviour in Thorium is still far away from the one in New Moon 28 or Mypal 68 on such an old, weak computer like mine. Cheers, AstroSkipper

  16. Hello AstroSkipper, I didn't try to imply it's related to a specific browser. In one of my posts regarding this never existed for me issue, I merely pointed out to what it was posted from. roytam1 reported the issue again, on Sunday, (Monday?) Not sure about his local time. https://msfn.org/board/topic/185994-cant-edit-my-first-post-in-thread/?do=findComment&comment=1259650

  17. The issue was not related to a specific browser. Neither Brave, Firefox or Opera did it on my Android tablet. Same problems as in New Moon or Mypal 68 under Windows XP.

  18. @roytam1 I have investigated the restart behaviour of New Moon 28 (and Serpent 52, too). I have started the browser many times and observed the startup cache. I noticed that very often or in most cases the startup cache was cleared automatically without any additional commands. Do you have more information about this? Is this normal? I thought that this cache is only deleted in special cases or triggered by the user, manually or by the command line option -purgecaches, for example.

  20. Oh yeah , I'm still running several FSP PSUs (Fujitsu Siemens Power) from 2004 , even though they have some pretty scary (el-cheapo) caps.
