@xYannikx Where exactly does this screenshot come from? I can see there date 9th Nov 2024. That is not much old, but if the original vxiiduu is still somewhere around online, why he doesn't simply do some official statement to all those speculations? No offense to you at all. I'm glad people here post any info they have. But anybody can create such a screenshot, anybody can use vxiiduu nick on some instant messenger. It might me real, but also maybe not. I don't know. If you have more detailed info, post it please. @D.Draker Who knows if that story is real or not. Maybe just somebody wanted to fake it, because VxKex really needs to be updated, so we can run new versions of software on Win7. There is for sure more people who got skills and time for that, but nobody wanted to start, if the status of original project has been unknown. Now at least 2 people started to do some work on it and that is imho good at this point. Future will tell more.2 points

I'm glad to hear it. 1. What search are you talking about? 2. Sorry but that is not true. The UserCSSLoader script is fully working in Mypal 68.14.4b. Here is a short demo: The "Import styles"is only necessary if new styles are added or some styles have been edited. When starting the browser, all styles are automatically loaded by this script. And what do you want to open? The CSS folder? A stylesheet in an editor? The userchrome.css file? Please describe it a bit more detailed! I can't do anything with statements like that. In any case, if all is configured as I described in my instructions very detailed inside the uploaded archive, then all features of the UserCSSLoader script are definitely working. The reported issue was its CSS stylesheet which does not work in Mypal 68.14.5b only. 3. Sorry but that is not true, either. The Custom Buttons extension works fine in Mypal 68.14.4b. At the moment, I have installed 11 custom buttons in this browser. Here is a short demo: For installing a custom button, you click the "Open file" dialogue from the browser main menu, go to the Restart & Purge v2.0 10-12-24 003806.htm file I uploaded for you and click onto it. Everything else goes without saying. If you want to see my most recent Process Mode Toggler custom button in action in Mypal 68.14.4b, then have a look at here: https://msfn.org/board/topic/183495-mypal-68/?do=findComment&comment=12751541 point

Now, thanks to @xYannikx, we know it's also a fake, @AstragonQC, please delete your post with the fake, someone can report, if not already. BTW, I wouldn't believe that story about the mother. Too soapy, and his English is very bad, too bad for someone (allegedly) from Australia.1 point

Yep, probably you knew it. But what's interesting, the author kept his promise and V2 is still supported, even past the 127 limit, in the current v.131. It's almost in line with the current Chromium 133.0.6863.0.1 point

Dave, thanks for reminding. There's a Chinese fork which solved all of the problems, including the bloody V3/V2. Found by @Saxon. I still hope @win32 will take it into consideration.1 point
-
Welcome, A year old browser might not hold out for long, sorry to be the downer. And we need new ideas on how to hold onto V2. Seeing Supermium stuck at 126, more than 7 major versions behind , I kinda suspect that the manifest could be the reason.1 point

Start Mypal 68, open Process Hacker, right-click on the mypal.exe file and left-click on its Properties! Select then the Memory tab and check the base address range from 0x60000000 to 0x6f000000! If, for example, no other DLL file has the base address 0x60000000 and behind it is enough free address space for the DLL files to be rebased, then of course you can also start with the base address 0x60000000 for rebasing the DLL file series.1 point
-
Yep, Process Hacker has been my friend for many, many years. It is always running in the background automatically after system start. I also check the free spots with sufficient space by using the Memory tab.1 point

Unfortunately, the idea is not to do what the system does, as without manually rebasing the RAM consumption of Mypal 68 is much higher. The system doesn't seem to automatically assign an optimal base address in terms of RAM usage. So, it is better to manually find a range where the RAM consumption is minimal and all is still working. And the range from 0x60000000 to 0x6f000000 really seems to be a suitable one for DLL files that do not belong to the system.1 point

In fact, it was uCyborg who first suggested (in Dezember of 2022) rebasing the chrome.dll file in 360Chrome as a measure to curb this browser's hunger for memory and pointed to the tool libase: https://msfn.org/board/topic/184135-arcticfoxienotheretoplaygames-360chrome-v1352022-rebuild-3/?do=findComment&comment=1232976 On my hardware, rebasing the chrome.dll was a complete success and actually resulted in a significant reduction of 360Chrome's RAM consumption. Since then, I have been experimenting with rebasing browser DLL files. For Chrome/Chromium based browsers it was the chrome.dll, for UXP browsers and for Mypal 68 the xul.dll file. However, it was indeed me who casually remarked here first that rebasing the xul.dll file has a significant, positive effect on the RAM consumption of Mypal 68:1 point
-
Since I was the one who brought the rebasing of the xul.dll file from Mypal 68 into play and have been doing this for a long time, I would like to know what criteria you used to select the base addresses of the other DLL files. I had suggested the following: The recommended and most suitable address range for DLL files is actually from 0x60000000 through 0x6f000000. Did you already test the additional rebasing of the other DLL files from Mypal 68? What kind of further positive effects did you observe then?1 point
-
I'm glad you think rebasing the xul.dll file makes sense. Mozilla doesn't care about less RAM usage. Like many other manufacturers, they assume that the users of their newer versions have enough RAM available in their computers. Otherwise they would not produce such rubbish.1 point

I am not always right. But a pure comparison of CPUs is not sufficient. Read here, for example, about the difference between SD-RAM and DDR2-RAM: https://www.transcend-info.com/support/faq-296#:~:text=DDR2 SDRAM(Double Data Rate,(double of DDR SDRAM). Maybe now you'll realise what I'm talking about. And apart from that, an Intel Pentium 4 is not the same as an Intel Pentium 4. There were different series like Willamette, Northwood, and Prescott. And within these series different FSB clock rates. So, forget about these comparison sites! The only way to compare our computers is doing the same test regarding all hardware components. P.S.: Due to my motherboard layout, there are several bottlenecks. Firstly, the extremely slow SD-RAM memory, then the very low bus clock rate and finally the AGP 4x interface, although my graphics card actually is an AGP 8x one.1 point

Please, don't come up with your "gut feelings"! I have presented all the essential facts that you have not commented on. My presentation has nothing to do with subjectivity and hypotheses. But as I said, it's offtopic here anyway and actually totally irrelevant. Your cucumber is old and mine is many years older.1 point

What kind of drawback is it? @feodor2 Any information on that? @feodor2 Actually, this was a feature request. Any opinion on this?1 point

Beacon lets sites know when you leave a Web page. It's disabled in Serpent, so I think it's safe to disable in r3dfox, but users beware: there are ways to accomplish the same task via Javascript, so don't be fooled into thinking you're protected from this sort of snooping just because beacon is disabled.1 point

I think the captive portal detection is pretty harmless, but TBH, it's also unnecessary for a desktop PC. Might be useful for laptops that get taken to hotels, restaurants, and the like. So I'd disable it on my desktop PC or a laptop that never goes anywhere, like my work PC, but I wouldn't stress too much over it accidentally being left enabled either. All it's doing it making a connection to a known site and seeing if it gets the expected response. If it doesn't, there must be a captive portal in the way. I suppose you could consider that "telemetry" but it's pretty darn minimal - all Mozilla knows is that you started their browser (along with the OS and browser version from the user agent, which you could spoof if you wanted to mess with them - tell them your running FF 129 on Win XP and let them scratch their heads!) And yes, they'll know your IP - but any site you connect to will know your IP unless you're using a VPN or external proxy.1 point

Thanks! All further considerations regarding your request will be now done in my thread which I created especially for such things.1 point

This can only work in cases where the site's code only ever sets up regex objects explicitly through RegExp(). Code like... const myRegex = /incompatible regex here/; ...won't work. Those aren't "polyfills", those are core language syntax constructs. You can't "polyfill" core language syntax constructs. It manipulates/replaces RegExp object among other things. So concluding the statement above, the answer is no. Learn C++, Windows API and their limitations on XP, fork old Chromium, backport to XP, modify the JS interpreter to understand nullish coalescing, optional-chaining operators and code your own GUI on top since you don't like the default one. That's possible with the right skills.1 point

An invalid checksum indicates a PE file has been hacked or otherwise corrupted. Correcting it hides the fact it was hacked, but provides the ability to detect later corruption. I believe the checksum only needs to be valid for system drivers.1 point
