You mean people like from this article? Thankfully, the US still has pros in the FBI to catch those stooges. "The DOJ says Tim Pool, Dave Rubin, Benny Johnson and others were unwitting Russian stooges." by Aja Romano Sep 5, 2024, 1:00 PM GMT-8 "Russia secretly paid millions to a bunch of big right-wing podcasters" "An FBI investigation found evidence that the media outlet RT, previously called Russia Today, which is run by the Russian government, “secretly plant[ed] and financ[ed]” a Tennessee content creation company; the indictment describes Tenet in all but name. The company is then alleged to have stealthily spread pro-Russian, anti-democracy propaganda to millions of people across the internet, primarily via YouTube, TikTok, and other major social media platforms." https://www.vox.com/politics/370323/tenet-media-russia-what-happened-tim-pool-dave-rubin-benny-johnson-lauren-southern4 points

Sorry, your "math" is terrible. Captcha happens with white theme, look better and read all reports. https://msfn.org/board/topic/185045-supermium/?do=findComment&comment=1272225 Two members reported it on github, too. No theme specified. Another member here simply hit reply to my screenshot, he reported the same problem. No theme specified. I was the only one with the "Dark Theme" report. https://github.com/win32ss/supermium/issues/8673 points

I delete all those, no troubles so far. Started in the 1990s to spare my HDD space. I also delete video intros, outros, ads from games.3 points

Hey, what do you want? You stopped posting interesting content, so no likes, don't be jealous. Write us something about the dreaded FF or uB "lite", get 'em a lot. In another topic, obviously. Another candidates include Adguard, 7zip, etc.3 points

It doesn't explain why people started to see that triggered protection with this release. I assume they are still using their old IP.3 points

Per your provided link, it says it's basically a garbage file (for us, on older OS, which the topic is about), it's allegedly intended to fix a Win 10 icon bug. Edit. Don't you think it's waaaaay too big for that?3 points

This topic is designed to compare the overall performance of different computers with each other under Windows XP.2 points

Yeah, also noticed that. I haven't tried Start11, but I would rather stay away from Stardock's products, especially after discovering that they need your email address to use them even in trial mode. Nothing beats SaB in my opinion, not even Open Shell.2 points

We will compare both computers as they are. And that means I won't pull a 512 MB module out of my computer. They are very old and are only removed if really necessary.2 points

@NotHereToPlayGames Internet testing has to be skipped, as this is not relevant for our comparison, and IE6 is obsolete anyways. So, are you in or out?2 points

Probably every Windows XP user has it installed. Look here: https://archive.org/details/WMEncoder9Series The same applies to DirectX 9.0c. It's essential and needed for testing graphics. Since you don't really use your computer anymore anyway, it's probably no problem to install these things briefly. https://benchmarks.ul.com/en/legacy-benchmarks https://www.chip.de/downloads/PCMark05-Vollversion_13003873.html2 points

@NotHereToPlayGames Here we are: Define the parameters of such a test and I will engage in this battle. Quantifiable measurements where neither one of us can "cheat". Then we'll let the rest of MSFN members "decide for themselves". Since the word offtopic is apparently not in your vocabulary, I hereby move our conversation to this thread created specifically for the purpose of computer performance comparisons in order to finally be ontopic again. Your proposed test procedure is far too fiddly and time-consuming. I am more in favour of using a well-known, locally installed test tool (i.e. offline tool) that tests all components and generates an overall performance index for the purpose of comparison. My suggestion: PCMark05 which still supports Windows XP.2 points

And then Adieu, Goodbye, Auf Wiedersehen for today? I feel like you guys are making another bloated thread on MSFN. 5 pages already xD1 point

@AstroSkipper I have just created WinRAR SFX Repack for 3DMark06. It installs silently and key is automatically added into registry. So you got full version without any additional steps. https://mega.nz/file/c2UylCKB#aNtZJ2hIqniYJiLaL1wQNK6vbI6h1tgLwcopsLJyJXY1 point

You naughty boy! Confess you also delete the rest of the Hellload garbage files @D.Draker taught us to.1 point

I hope you are listening to yourself. You just delete files willy nilly without even knowing what they are! Got it. I hope the Lemmings that follow your every word are also listening. And we ALL know that they are. The "likes" are about to tROLL in. Sit back and watch. We all know it! "I don't know, but Dixel deletes it and that's good enough for me."1 point

Hey, XP will run GTX 960 only on desktop because XP doesn't support "optimus" (switching between integrated and dedicated cards) on laptops. Do you have a function to choose between cards in BIOS?1 point

"Ousted" is the wrong word here. When someone works for the FSB, he follows the legend given by the curators. So, he simply moved further, onto Telegram, but then again, even Telegram gave out real people identities to the Russia secret police. There are well known ones among them, plenty of proof (even photographed docs) were placed on Twitter by those prosecuted. It's literally all over the internet. Some 7 years ago a Russian woman was granted political asylum in EU. I'm actually against those "asylums", those individuals are recruited by the FSB and planted to Europe. Clear as day play. Of course, there were ones that have nothing to do with the FSB, simple peasants to manufacture cases for the Russia police work. I'm sure we have FSB shills even here, on MSFN. Russia actually played very good in terms of polluting and controlling the internet, media and software. (Google founder born in Moscow, Russia, what else is there to say?) Never underestimate your enemy. Fun fact is Russia has zero of their own hardware, not even a single CPU, our Western tech is used against us. Very welcome to give me a warning/ban/whatever, don't care, but you asked yourself.1 point

not really. lack of CMOV instruction set is the problem. In PCem, only Cyrix 6x86MX series emulates CMOV instructions, and it runs sp52-ia32. and I can make a list of processors that can run sp52-ia32 (which support CMOV instruction): Intel: Pentium Pro or later AMD: K7 (original Athlon/Duron) or later VIA: C7 or later Transmeta: all CPUs are capable to run sp52-ia32. Cyrix/IBM: 6x86MX or later, MediaGXm(MediaGX-S) or later National Semiconductor/AMD: Geode GX or later DM&P/Vortex86: Vortex86DX3 or later1 point

can you try redownloading the archive? new archive should have ucrtbase.dll dated in 2015. according to this: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/52025833/crash-in-snprintf-s-in-ucrtbase-dll-with-status-illegal-instruction , newer ucrtbase relies to SSE(2).1 point

I have been testing SSErpent (just a nick I gave to the browser due to it working on SSE only systems) and while it does work, it's a little bit on the slow side. I am studying the about:config of the browser and I'm fairly confident that I can develop a UOC Patch for it. And if I successfully manage to develop it, I can port the changes to the regular 52ESR and NM28 versions. Since SSErpent does not support E10S, I will not implement it. But apparently it has working APZ, which is good. Tiled compositing is still broken but I think I could be able to compensate that. Give me some time guys.1 point

Hi RoyTam1, tested your Serpent 52 Non-SSE2 test build, It's working beautifully on my Pentium III 1.4GHz. Once I finish tweaking it I expect it to run even better. But even as of now, discord web (which, if you aren't familiar, is very bloated and slow, even a bit sluggish on my Core Duo ThinkPad) is quite usable on the PIII using that browser. It's truly amazing. I'd imagine you may find more optimizations to make, as the build is in it's infancy. Keep up the good work, dude!1 point
