Your behaviour here is highly questionable and certainly does not inspire confidence. My decisions and actions are exclusively determined by my knowledge and experience. I control and adjust all system and programme services manually as I know what I do and what I have to do. There is no need for such a crappy batch file . This is what I would do with that file: And your lack of objectivity, your provocations and your insinuations show me clearly that you actually have nothing meaningful to say. From now on, I'll try to do this: . Just to not waste my time with such nonsense.4 points

Yes. Lower the user agent in about:config via the general.useragent.override.google.com or general.useragent.override.google.xxx pref where xxx is your country-specific TLD! If it doesn't exist, create this pref as a string one. This is a site-specific user agent. Choosing a mobile user agent for Google is also possible and makes the Google searches even faster.2 points

It can be easily checked whether ports are open and have to be closed or not. If a Windows system is well configured and protected properly by the hardware and software firewalls, there is no need to use such tools you recommended. And certainly not tools that were developed for older operating systems than Windows 7.. As I already stated crystal clearly, I do not simply trust but I deeply check . Both my hardware and software firewalls do a good job, and there is no need for such old tools. And there is definitely no need to run an undocumented batch file of dubious origin to disable various services..2 points

This also does not correspond to the facts. You may use these tools under Windows 7 for whatever strange reasons, but they were not developed for this operating system at all. Ports Off is listed as compatible with Windows 2000, 2003 and XP, Windows Worms Door Cleaner even only as compatible with Windows XP. So, the recommendation should be to use these tools only under Windows XP, under more modern operating systems without any guarantee and with caution. Actually, this topic should have been rather posted in the Windows XP forum if at all. This is what happens when one "decided to throw up a couple of topics on an almost dead forum".2 points

Also noticed "forbidden" while posting some netstat today.2 points

Within Task Manager -> Processes/Details Tab You can match the PID against the result of the second netstat command above, you can then find the image name/end the2 points

Here is my feedback. Basically the new version is almost there, but there are a few quirks and I guess growing pains, which must be expected when trying to recreate the whole taskbar. Winver 22631.3880. Taskbar width when disabling/re-enabling monitors in any order seems to finally work regardless of any DPI settings, at least with my preliminary testing. ✅ My biggest issue is that using the W10 taskbar with W11 Default Start Menu, the menu appears in the middle even if the taskbar is set to the right side for example. This did not happen in 3.7.11. Please add a Start Menu position setting. ❌ Secondly clicking the Start Menu is inconsistent, it does not always open. Or even if it does it might instantly close. Using Windows key itself seems to work. ❓This might be my mouse breaking, not sure. Thirdly and as the most minor thing, some app icons are not the same size (or even same) for some reason (but this is basically a nit pick). However while I fully appreciate having 7+ Taskbar Tweaker behavior 'Never, hide labels' as the Combine taskbar buttons option, the taskbar icons themselves are not 1:1 size compared to 3.7.11 even with the same literal taskbar width. However I must iterate that this is such a minor issue that I don't really care, it's just mentioned here for parity. Attached images just in case. Edit: Fourth thing and a quite big one is that in fullscreen (borderless) apps I can't get the taskbar to show, even by pressing the windows key, which does open the start menu but does not show the task bar. Thank you! Edit: added an example of old and new icons, please refer to image names.1 point

It probably means you are doing something wrong with your computer or there was some specific rare issue. Disabling system restore is bad idea in most cases, but there might be of course some specific usage exception. Reinstalling the system is faster only for people who don't use many specific custom settings and many specific software with many specific custom settings, system drive encryption etc etc. The system I'm writing from now has been installed 9 years ago and it still works perfectly. During that time I've used system restore maybe 2-3x for example when there was problem with some new driver and system failure to boot. During that time I also fully replaced the hardware and migrated the OS from old PC to new one by cloning the encrypted system drive. It needed some fixes, drivers reinstall etc, but it was still done in maybe 2 days. If I need to reinstall the whole system from scratch and reinstall all the software and settings I have here, I need at least 2 weeks for that. But of course for people who use mostly default settings and few application the reinstall would be faster.1 point

Just tested the SSE version on my old Athlon computer with 1.25 Gb RAM. It works fine, and consume just 250 Mb more Ram as NM28 SSE . Good job! Just a question : What is the best ublock origin version for this release, ... and I can't change language from English from internal option?1 point

It only effected companies who use the CrowdStrike middleware, the data files that triggered the crash in the CrowdStrike driver were not pushed from the public Windows Update.1 point

And if you still need the very old, abandoned Mozilla Firefox 52.9.1 ESR, here is a link: https://web.archive.org/web/20210730234012/https://download-origin.cdn.mozilla.net/pub/firefox/tinderbox-builds/mozilla-esr52-win32/1536215521/firefox-52.9.1.en-US.win32.installer.exe Alternatively, one link from the first post still works: http://sdfox7.com/xp/sp3/EOL/firefox-52.9.1.en-US.win32.installer.exe1 point

Agree with you, one can also use system restoring in case of updates gone wrong.1 point

@lll888 In these days, such programmes like Ports Off or Windows Worms Door Cleaner are no longer really necessary as users are usually protected by a hardware firewall in their routers and a software firewall in Windows. Generally, the user should rather first check which ports are closed or not. This could be done, for example, by the (still maintained) Nirsoft tool CurrPorts.1 point

I would never apply such a batch or reg file, especially if offered in the way you did. For me, they are files from dubious sources. This batch file is meant to disable services in Windows offered from a person nobody knows and who does not provide any detailed information about the reasons for the service selection inside this batch file. This is a no-go. Same applies to your recommended utilities. And then someone should also import these registration keys via reg file, again without any information and explanations. Furthermore, you did not provide any links to the homepages of their origin. Only pictures of two utilities. Sorry but ! And all this logically leads to . And by that I mean no trust in such an offer and no trust in their provider. And that's you. Sorry for the bad news!1 point

These posts are ancient and no longer current. Avast was the cause of all the problems and was completely uninstalled months ago. Your assumption is wrong.1 point

BTW, there is additionally the possibility to update MWAV - eScan Antivirus Toolkit offline. On their homepage, an weekly offline updater can be downloaded. To update offline an offline AV scanner is a bit funny, but in any case simply great. Here is the link: https://www.escanav.de/german/content/products/generic_eScan/escan_mailscan_weeklyupdates.asp Cheers, AstroSkipper1 point
