  1. If this is the the remake, then no. They hardcoded DX12 demands. Probably DXVK will do some good, but I never had a success with it on Windows 7. Anyways, the game is not worth it, in my opinion. All old features are now paid.

  5. Right! The release ending of *.xpmod.7z is the one for computers with a CPU equipped with SSE2 instruction set and above as it is in your case.

  6. The "normal" one. The ia32 and the sse are for very old CPUs and the i3 is quite "new" compared to what they are intended for. To illustrate, look at the "Features" section at the bottom of this page -- https://www.techpowerup.com/cpu-specs/core-i3-4160.c1767

  7. Nothing surprising, newer laptops are thinner, nowhere to place a somewhat decent cooler. With that technology level, it should be 25 degrees at max! My Kaby runs idle at 23 and load at 50 max. And those desktop CPUs are known to run hotter. All that with the supplied thin cooler!

  10. To give you an idea what makes custom buttons so special, they are very low on memory consumption and can provide features which are not existent in browsers. Many of them are very specialised and add features to the browser that cannot even be retrofitted with extensions because they were simply never developed. And of course, we all know that nowadays hardly any new legacy extensions are developed for such browsers, but practically only webextensions. Beyond that, the more extensions installed, the more memory consumption, the more inconpatibilities and error messages (browser console), and finally, the less browser performance, depending on your hardware, of course. So, it would be really interesting for me what other users think about custom buttons. Any opinions, experiences or questions are welcome, of course! And it doesn't matter whether you used them in the past or still do.

  12. BTW, the CPU is indeed not impressive! Only 29% faster than the cheap 2013 Haswell Pentium. The Haswell era didn't have that bloated OS at that time, so no surprise at all. https://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Intel-Pentium-G3470-vs-Intel-Core-i5-1335U/m28614vsm2065642

  13. Those newer gens have Intel "software guard", turn that off, also. From what I know, some software makers use it to fingerprint your PC for "licensing" purposes.

  14. I had some weird cases of slowness on Haswell, it was related to HPET, basically try to turn off everything you don't need in the BIOS. Sometimes even turning off virtualisation helps. I think it's more poor mobo design related rather than CPU.

  18. I do agree, unsafe, not for me. Don't care if it's Google QUIC or non-Google QUIC - neither is for me. But no, I did not vote, nor plan to. Some topics seem to only exist for the sake of Provocateur Extraordinaire - this one has already unfolded as such so I'll leave it to "you two" to duke it out, "not for me".

  19. This topic is about Google's QUIC implementation, which is clearly shown in the title, yet it obviously doesn't prevent you from posting off-topic and insulting, all as usual with your posts.

  21. With the Debugger Windbg connected, my XP does NOT crash! This I have never seen before. Now I have an ntoskrnl.exe (see below), with 2 new build functions in it, ExInterlockedFlushSList and ExInterlockedPopEntrySList, both now without any cmpxchg8b. For them I use my new build and sharpen cmpxchg8b Emulator. I am absolut sure: Disconnect Windbg and normal boot, Bsod 0xA (xxx, 000000FF,...) And I doublechecked that indeed my ntoskrnl.exe is used and no other^^, see build date Dietmar ntoskrnl.exe mit 2 neuen Funktionen ohne cmpxchg8b https://ufile.io/en45qotb

  24. As I wrote in my first, introductory post of this thread, I am not only a fan of extensions, but also of custom buttons. I personally use a lot of already existing custom buttons and beyond that, created several on my own in the past. In any case, I will continue to present them here. But at this point, I would like to know how much interest there is in custom buttons among users of @roytam1's browser editions in general. So, feel free to share your thoughts on that topic!

  26. If these words are addressed to @Vistapocalypse, I can only agree. But I wonder what business it is of yours at all? You are not involved in this conversation, not even mentioned. TBH, you don't have to put your two cents in everywhere in the forum. And I fear, it's not that important what you are tired of or what not. Sorry, my dear!

  28. You're welcome. When it comes to successfully blocking content using uBlock Origin Legacy, it is very often a question of the right filter list or self-created rule. A sensible combination of enabled filter lists is very important to successfully block whatever you want to and to keep the memory usage of the used browser as low as possible. This is one of the reasons why I have implemented additional filter lists in my mod and will do so even in the next releases.

  29. The use of artificial intelligence is a double-edged sword. It can generate results very quickly and easily. However, these must be evaluated and consulted with caution. In my opinion, it is essential to do your own research in any case. I personally do not trust any AI. It is nice to have such technology but I don't want to be told what to do or think by any artificial intelligence. I don't really approve of such a dependency, which is already fatal for children and students for years. Stupidity is being encouraged. Nobody needs to know anything. AI already does that. A famous German astrophysicist, Prof. Dr. Harald Lesch, put it aptly a long time ago. Young people don't know much anymore, they just learn how to easily get information. He literally said that in this day and age, young people only learn skills, but they know very little. I totally agree. Of course, using artificial intelligence sensibly is a completely different story.

  30. Of course, it does. Look at the end of the FAQ! There are links to the corresponding articles whose author is no less than @VistaLover. And a little research on your own to deepen the topic would be helpful, too. But to be honest, @Mathwiz did already the job for you and quoted the most suitable post from @VistaLover in terms of your query.

  31. No problem. Then that's the way it is. Actually, people should get their information here anyway. Sometimes, it's not so easy to express exactly what you want to say in a foreign language. In most cases, I think I manage that, but unfortunately not always.

  35. Same here on the latest New Moon. Well, at least the scrollbar at the very bottom works to display the rest of the code. But I hope for you all that this can be fixed.
