Thanks for the information! Then the chances are quite good that after @feodor2's switch to JS Engine 91, some things will work again.2 points

Yes you have. Maybe you meant that you've never used them. waka waka waka https://msfn.org/board/topic/185031-webp-virus-fears-nightmares-suggestions-or-exodus-from-the-internet/?do=findComment&comment=1252187 https://msfn.org/board/topic/183016-palemoon-drama-has-gotten-bad/?do=findComment&comment=1205651 Just messin' with ya. edit: wait, one was about never hearing of Pale Moon, not New Moon. But like I say, I'm just messin' anyway. I'm not a big fan of Firefox Forks but they DO have a VERY large following - ESPECIALLY here at MSFN. Maybe more true a few years ago than "today", but several Firefox Forks are updated WEEKLY here at MSFN and there is a VERY large following of those forks. Okay, "very large" is perhaps relative. But if you've ever opened the "most active" or "recent activity" links here at MSFN, the fork thread is there EVERY FRIDAY like CLOCKWORK.2 points

It's the case with all software. I don't know if you knew, even MKVToollnix changes gamma and brightness! As a rule of thumb, I'd say everything newer is brighter 1030>2044, be it browsers or video codecs, (AV1 is very bright, as the example)2 points

I'm chill and quite relaxed, thanks for your worries. I'm staying here seeking purely technological experience (which is getting harder and harder with each day), I don't want to discuss politics, off-topic matters, my personality, my posts from several years ago, rumours, etc, I don't want to be screamed at in CAPSLOCK. (against the rules!) That word wasn't quoted in your original post, so no. Also, I'm not interested in your opinion regarding the site moderation, besides, discussing it in public is indeed against the rules. I gave you a polite hint - I want to be left alone, yet you don't listen. I'm tired of your want-to-be-moderator fantasies. Let's ask @Tripredacus what "has to be" a violation or hasn't. Back on-topic: With your posts you give a very good example of how people shouldn't behave themselves when posting.1 point
-
Chill. Just a figure of speech. Besides, I've seen MSFN Members "threaten" other MSFN Members with "I've screencap'd what you just said, I will use it against you if I need to". That has to be much more in violation of forum rules then some "just messin" phrase and the "literal meaning" of "never heard of". Oh well, life's too short,1 point
-
Me posting in general or any other section doesn't automatically mean I'm aware of the whole topic/subject. I can reply to a post as if it was a standalone matter. You not even knowing those browsers' names kind of tells a lot. I remember you wrote you couldn't even access your utilities website with them, so what's the point? I didn't know messing with other people was allowed on the forum. I already got several stalkers/weirdos (check my account every minute), guess now I'll be adding someone who messes with me to the collection.1 point

Editing and changing the order of the about items is very easy, BTW, some items don't work in Mypal 68. Thus, I deleted them months ago.1 point

It's at value of 4. With Nvidia panel the setting value is also 5 or 4. My monitor was very bright at its default values of brightness 50 and contrast 50, too. I have a 24 inch Fujitsu Siemens from 2006. (It a has a Philips panel inside). All German assembly. The current refresh rate I use is 60HZ. Soon to be two decades old, runs like a clock, I may recap it later (change capacitors). It's hard to buy German made caps nowadays.1 point

I don’t think MBAM could be the culprit, although I certainly never paid for MBAM Premium since better antivirus software was available for free (and is included with Windows 10). Very likely you once thought you had completely uninstalled a third-party antivirus (possibly Avast), but it left your system in its present condition. I see you don’t want anyone to suggest reinstalling Windows (which might be a good learning experience for you), so hopefully you know more about editing the registry than I do! This link might give you some ideas. Good luck! https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/the-setting-is-managed-by-your-administrator/3624d367-7405-471d-a067-4b7e38d0deae1 point

My monitor brightness is at 4, yes, at 4, contrast at 18. Nvidia panel is at 5 brightness and 2 contrast.1 point

Dave, you're absolutely right! 60Hz is definitely the right frequency for such flat screens of that era, even if they can do 75, it usually leads to reduced quality.1 point
-
Really. really bad fonts, I'm very sorry you have this problem. Are you sure it runs at 1280x1024 Pixel, 32-bit colour? Because those usually run at 1280x1024 Pixel and 60hz, not at 75hz. At 75hz it would be like 1024x768.1 point

Just to clarify a few things about the terminology we're using, the "K" number refers to the (approx.) number of pixels across, while the "p" number refers to the number of pixels vertically. 2160p (aka UHD) is 3840x2160. We call it 4K but it's actually more like 3.75K. There are a few true 4K displays in existence, but most "4K" displays are actually 3840x2160. 1440p (aka QHD) is 2560x1440, so more like 2.5K than 2K.... 1080p (aka FHD) is 1920x1080, so closer to 2K1 point

Hello @dmiranda! aboutbutton.uc.js is a JavaScript script file and does not need an entry in the userContent.css file. It has only to be copied to the chrome folder and will be recognized automatically after clearing the startup cache and restarting Mypal 68, only if all has been configured correctly (see first post of this thread), of course. It comes originally with an additional aboutbutton.css file to change the appearance of the button and its menu which has to be copied to the chrome\CSS subfolder and imported into the userChrome.css file. However, I had to fix this aboutbutton.css file as it didn't work correctly in Mypal 68. Anyway! The userContent.css file is for changing directly websites or internal sites like the about:sites. But for the custom button aboutbutton, no entries are necessary in the userContent.css file.1 point

You are getting error code 0x80244004. If so, you should check or perform step 11 once more. You have to verify the existence of patched "wuaueng.dll" in the mentioned folders of my guide. Be aware of SFC which tries to restore an original old version of this file! After patching, restart your computer and check again! Anyway! Doing all steps correctly and keeping the order should let the probabiliy of success increase to nearly 100%.1 point
