  1. SciTE is a highly configurable tool, just look for the articles, it makes no sense to copy paste here. I'm sure you'll like this light editor.

  3. I have never been using Windows XP Professional x64. Therefore, I cannot report from my own experience. As you already read in my article, this OS doesn't support SHA256 to sign certificates. Thus, I fear you are stuck with only ProxHTTPSProxyMII 1.3a when accessing MU/WU. For more detailed information in terms of your OS, you should contact @maile3241. He got it working under Windows XP Professional x64. BTW, there are other options to update your OS. I listed them in my thread 'General and specific solutions for problems regarding AU/WU/MU in Windows XP'. Have a look here:

  4. ... QT Player v7.7.9 (file version 7.79.80.95) for Windows is the last one Apple released for installation under Vista SP2/Windows 7 SP1; the EXE setup has a SHA1 digital signature from way back in Dec 16th, 2015, so quite outdated ; that same installer won't even work on Win10+, unless you hack it yourself ... Since the recent discussion here was about the QT browser plugin, even that isn't installed by default: My Serpent 52.9.0 copy does pick up the QT-v7.7.9 browser plugins under both "about:addons => Plugins" and "about:plugins", but, since I have now no actual use for it inside my browser (for online content), I have it permanently disabled ...

  6. Hello, I do not use YT, but you can find how to get it working here: https://msfn.org/board/topic/184730-antimalware-firewall-and-other-security-programs-for-windows-xp-working-in-2023-and-hopefully-beyond/page/35/#comment-1248964 After re-installing v3.1kM, the dialog buttons seemed to have been fixed: A new folder has also been created, which was not present in the previous install: Anyways, everything seems to work as before!

  9. I am running the latest version 3.1kM and the bug is still present. And regarding MBAM, I got version 1.75 running and much prefer it over 3.x and it updates with no issues after following @AstroSkipper's instructions.

  11. Before 2018 would be the key words here, we'd have to assume they are simply not needed. Just check if you have the latest SHA2 version, like @Cocodile wrote.

  13. I assume no one has attempted it. And I think there won't be anyone trying that. The only person that could realise such a port is not interested in an x64 build. TBH, I don't believe there is any acute urgency for doing so, either.

  14. You can download only one type of installer from their website which is a 32-bit version. There is no other version.

  19. MFCreateDXGIDeviceManager Monster Hunter Rise wants MFCreateDXGIDeviceManager. which is Windows 8(1)+ only. When I try and launch, it says entry point MFCreateDXGIDeviceManager is missing in the dynamic link library MFPlat.DLL. Replaced, like they suggested, I now get a black screen. Ideas?

  26. Glad it finally worked for you! But in terms of Windows XP, my guide "General and specific solutions for problems regarding AU/WU/MU in Windows XP" is completely sufficient. And by the way, I personally have a complete, offline update archive with all updates for Windows XP. For the German edition, of course! I don't like relying on Microsoft's update servers, where everything concerning abandoned Windows operating systems could be deleted at any time.

  27. If it doesn't work for you, try the method Legacy Update alternatively! Link:

  28. I have never used Windows Server 2003, but in the archive Restore_WU_XP.7z, there are updates for both OSs, Windows XP and Windows Server 2003. Try to install the failing updates manually!

  29. Hello @Great_Life! All you need you'll find in my article: Cheers, AstroSkipper PS: In that thread, I have listed all existing methods to restore WU/MU.

  30. You should first use the search function before posting such "news"! The problem has been known for years. It has nothing to do with Legacy Update. MU and WU show the same misbehaviour. So I chose KB4486463 as a dummy update in one of my fixes long ago: Therefore, nothing new in the West! You seem to have used the AU/WU service never before. Otherwise, you'd have noticed that misbehaviour long time ago.

  31. As far as I can see, the most simple way for updating a Windows 2000 installation is using the quite new service Legacy Update which was already mentioned here. It was reported to work properly on Windows 2000. I wrote about this service here: It can't hurt to give it a try. To be honest, I do not use Windows 2000 and never did before. If you want to use an legacy OS, I would rather recommend to switch to Windows XP Professional SP3. It can be additionally updated by installing POSReady Updates and is much better supported, especially here in this forum. Just a suggestion! Kind regards, AstroSkipper

  32. Hello @maile3241! Long time no hear from each other! Are you OK? I hope so. Anyway, this Legacy Update service is an interesting found! I had a look at its homepage but I couldn't find any information about the supported languages. Do you know if it is for English Windows versions only? Cheers, AstroSkipper

  33. 1 - You did not !??! Ho do you load the patched files then ? For me, is no way to load without the signing . I mean, I know you're a magician, but still... Is there a secret ? All of the commands are simply ignored in all cases on my PC. I went across plenty of articles saying this. 2 - Maybe we should try another driver then ? Somewhere between those two ? Say 385-388 smth. On the other hand, today I tried the modded 382.16 (Microsoft version) and it froze with the panel again, if I take the panel from 378.78 and install with 382 - freeze again, no panels - works fine!

  34. Did you or did you not self-sign the driver (sys) , like I wrote in my tutorial ? I also had all sorts of weirdness until I tried out this method.

  35. I tried 398.11 with its original CPL ver. 8.1.940.0, it also froze.
    1 point
  36. So how do you live without the ability to calbrate the colour settings !? Then you ought to try this 378.78 I modded, a good driver indeed.

  37. Before the instalation replace the following crapware/bloatware with blanks with the same extension so it won't be beatching about missing files and whatnot. flxcomm64.dl_ flxconnect64.dl_ flxcore64.dl_ GeForce_iCafe.exe GeForce_iCafeExt.dll nvsetup.exe NvSplash.exe NvSplash.wmv NvSplashService.exe NvSplash_ZH.wmv pvsonydll32.dl_ pvsonydll64.dl_

  38. 1 - For me, the CPL in your patched 398.11 didn't work at all, it was not even able to install. But the driver itself works very good ! Yes , the 411 also failed for me, I think I wrote about it long time ago, in my my tutorial P1. 2 - Yes , I do . Yes, I can . No, it doesn't freeze on the orb. I have lots of PCI/PCI-E cards in my system, like several Pro audio cards , two NICs , super speed E-SATA boards , etc. All of them are very old, like from 2007 - 2008 or so, but no conflicts with the cards, even from 2017, not to mention the fossils from 2013, like the 780 ti. I got freeze only if I forcefully install the CPL along with any driver newer than 378.xx , like I said. I mean the CPL which matches the driver package version (the one it came with). I'm absolutely certain the CPL is the culprit . I unpacked some later CPL packages and didn't see any missing dependencies though,

  39. @win32, so I took the whole (original) 398.11 package, cleaned it up with a special programme (removed telemetry , etc) and left only the driver , HD audio , CPL and the installer, then replaced the patched files and guess what , the installer says it failed. Re-checked on win7 - the package works ! Ideas ? Later I modded the 382.16 and several between 385 and 388 and they all worked, but without the CPL ! Damn . They can only be installed via the manager . If I forcefully install the CPL along with any driver newer than 378.78 , it hangs up at the orb and I have to do a hard reset . So something in the CPL itself is broken , ideas ? thanks.

  41. You're welcome ! I'm sorry for your 30 Euro down the drain . If only you lived nearby ... I could solder them for free . Buy an office Siemens board, where it could be disabled in BIOS , yes , there are some boards like that , for your 775 socket also . A good example would be Q35 chipset boards where Siemens folks made an option to disable it completely , even with a password protected setting , so no one could revert it back! I'm guessing could be found for 10-20 euro max in Germany.

  42. @Jaguarek62 , I do not need many cores , I need a strong dual or quad core CPU with real cores (no hyperthreading). 1.35 is considered a good result ? I tried to avoid AMD because they were too hot and power hungry . And now the choices are very limited ! I have had various CPUs over all of my years in computing and only a small percentage where they could do a good overclock . I agree about Intel greediness , but you said it yourself - AMD Ryzen is pretty bad . I do not know what to choose . I was also considering this , even though this one is locked. Why ? Some of my software do NOT run on core i3-i7 at all , but runs OK on Pentiums and AMD .Thanks https://msfn.org/board/topic/182701-h410-mobo-lga1200-comet-lake-with-vista-x86-considering-upgrade/

  44. Would you please tell what is your mobo ? I'm thinking of upgrading one of my systems and hope to find a working motherboard . It seems win32 won't be fixing Haswell bug with 64-bit version so I decided to try AMD (though I always try to avoid AMD at all costs) . Some banned member wrote that he was able to run Vista with B450 chipset (!) Can't confirm any of this ...
