  4. FYI, I opened a new issue on Mypal 68's GitHub page. It is the issue #296 with the title Errors and problems when installing and updating extensions in Mypal 68. As the title already says, I will post there all errors and problems that come to my attention when installing and updating extensions in Mypal 68. By doing so, I hope that @feodor2 will be able to fix the currently existing errors and bugs related to extensions more easily and in a more targeted way. Cheers, AstroSkipper

  5. Sorry; I'm not trying to ghost you. Since you can ping that site (and the IP address you get matches mine), I couldn't think of any other obvious reason why you alone can't access it with your browser, so I didn't have anything to say that was worth saying when I read your reply! Then the thread went on to other topics, and I just forgot. The only other thing I can think of is that Web access to that site is blocked downstream, perhaps by a firewall or router setting. Clearly ICMP messages are getting through, though, so it's not a complete block.

  6. Apply the flags before, on a clean new profile, also some versions of Chrome understand --disable-encryption, not --disable-encryption-win. The second one is the same, namely --disable-machine-id.
    2 points
  7. Did you try with the flags I posted here? You would need to test with a new profile! Applying the flags on old won't show the difference.

  8. I'm sure that's true. But there's no law against having both Googled and unGoogled versions of the same browser. And it's open source, so it doesn't have to be done by Supermium's author. Anyone can fork the code and apply the standard unGoogled Chromium changes. As delivered, no, they're not. But both can be made portable in the same manner as other Chromium browsers. With Firefox-derived browsers, portability is just a matter of telling the browser to store its profile directory in the folder it was launched from, instead of the fixed C:\Users directory the browser would use by default. That way, you can put the browser on a thumb drive, move it from PC to PC, and your extensions and settings all move with it. You can do this with a .cmd file (fka a .bat file) that you launch instead of the .exe, which is what Ed's suggestion does.

  9. Appears there's more to this than structuredClone. Installed the user script, but still no joy. I'll give it a closer look from home; I'm at work now.... That index only appears to go through the year 2016. But it was only for test purposes anyhow. Sure enough, Chrome 98 did the trick.

  10. OK, that's even more surprising! It proves you can access the site from your PC, but only from Chrome, not Serpent... (And you tried a clean profile, so it's not a browser extension interfering.) But the rest of us can access it from Serpent just fine. Sounds like a firewall rule. Perhaps port 80 is blocked, with an exception for Chrome? Or perhaps a different proxy configuration? (Chrome uses Windows Internet settings; Serpent has its own, which would default to "direct connection" on a clean profile.)

  11. It still works without modification. I think the lack of support for version 118 in Windows 10 1507 was simply a mistake by the developers.

  14. ... I beg to differ : then: Sorry, my bad! I didn't notice that I had disabled uBlock Origin on GitHub in the past. Thus, the filter had no effect. After enabling, everything works as described by you. Thanks again!

  18. Restoring the manual and automatic update function for extensions in Mypal 68.13.3b Replace the file omni.ja in the main programme folder of Mypal 68.13.3b by the fixed one, uploaded by @feodor2, from here: https://github.com/Feodor2/Mypal68/issues/286#issuecomment-1753451203 Check if the value of the pref extensions.htmlaboutaddons.enabled is false. Set the pref extensions.update.enabled to the value true. Set the pref extensions.update.url to the value https://versioncheck.addons.mozilla.org/update/VersionCheck.php?reqVersion=%REQ_VERSION%&id=%ITEM_ID%&version=%ITEM_VERSION%&maxAppVersion=%ITEM_MAXAPPVERSION%&status=%ITEM_STATUS%&appID=%APP_ID%&appVersion=%APP_VERSION%&appOS=%APP_OS%&appABI=%APP_ABI%&locale=%APP_LOCALE%&currentAppVersion=%CURRENT_APP_VERSION%&updateType=%UPDATE_TYPE%&compatMode=%COMPATIBILITY_MODE% Set the pref extensions.update.background.url to the value https://versioncheck-bg.addons.mozilla.org/update/VersionCheck.php?reqVersion=%REQ_VERSION%&id=%ITEM_ID%&version=%ITEM_VERSION%&maxAppVersion=%ITEM_MAXAPPVERSION%&status=%ITEM_STATUS%&appID=%APP_ID%&appVersion=%APP_VERSION%&appOS=%APP_OS%&appABI=%APP_ABI%&locale=%APP_LOCALE%&currentAppVersion=%CURRENT_APP_VERSION%&updateType=%UPDATE_TYPE%&compatMode=%COMPATIBILITY_MODE% Clear the cache and restart the browser. Now, the update function should work finally again after this long time. If there is more to fix, we will see after further testing. In any case, with the settings I listed above, I had the first successes in updating two extensions, Clear Cache from version 3.1 to 3.2 and Simple Translate from version 2.8.0 to 2.8.2. Here are some screenshots to document the restored updating in Mypal 68.13.3b in single-process mode: Before updating the extensions: While updating the extensions: After updating the extensions: At the moment, uBlock Origin can't be updated this way. You have to do that manually as usual. This issue is described more detailed in Mypal's issue #287 here: https://github.com/Feodor2/Mypal68/issues/287#issuecomment-1755185457 Cheers, AstroSkipper

  22. @feodor2 I am in the process of testing the offered features related to extensions in your new release Mypal 68.13.3b. The entry "Check For Updates" in the "More Information" page of an extension does not do anything. Same when clicking onto the entry "Find Updates" of the extension's context menu. Is it not yet active? Will it be restored in one of the next releases? Furthermore, I noticed on the page "Manage Your Extensions" that entries of the menu "Tools for all add-ons" have been removed. Here is a screenshot taken from the previous version Mypal 68.13.2b: And here is a screenshot taken from Mypal 68.13.3b: In this menu, all entries regarding the updating of extensions are missing, and the menu seems rather broken. Is this how you wanted it? I do not hope so. Until now, one always had to manually check for updates on the Firefox Addons website. A manual and automatic update check in Mypal 68 would be desirable and useful. Will these functions be restored in one of the next releases? TBH, I have been waiting for this for soooooo long. Cheers, AstroSkipper

  23. Hello @feodor2! Hope you are doing well. Furthermore, thank you very much for your new release Mypal 68.13.3b! I read your release notes, especially: You know I created this thread to post here all related to extensions and custom buttons targeting Mypal 68. You wrote you "changed extension things". Therefore, I tested your new release in terms of extensions. I made a new, clean install, created a fresh profile, configured it in single-process mode, and installed only two extensions, Cookie Quick Manager 0.5rc2 and uBlock Origin 1.52.2. Here is a screenshot: Now, I clicked onto the entry of uBlock Origin to see more information. Here is a screenshot: So far, everything is normal as usual. Next, I went back to the extensions overview. No problem. But then, when clicking onto uBlock Origin again, the page became empty. Here is a screenshot of this issue: You see there is a problem. The detailed information about uBlock Origin can't be shown again. Same issue when clicking onto Cookie Quick Manager. A temporary fix is to refresh the page. Every time, an empty page is displayed, which is the rule after a click onto an extension, a refresh must be carried out to see the information related to an extension again. BTW, same issue when using Mypal 68.13.3b in multiprocess mode. This issue didn't happen in the previous release Mypal 68.13.2.b, though. Therefore, it is a brand new issue, presumably caused by the recent changes in Mypal 68.13.3b. Hope, you are able to reproduce and to solve it. Cheers, AstroSkipper

  24. Yep, you're right! The proof is in the pudding. When I wrote my comment, I was on my couch using an Android tablet. Now, I am back at my Windows XP desktop computer. Although stated as XP-compatible on their website, Malwarebytes AdwCleaner 7.4.2.0 is unfortunately not compatible with Windows XP anymore. It can't be installed.

  25. Very good examination! As Malwarebytes AdwCleaner 7.4.2.0 use the database from Oct 10th 2022 under Windows Vista, then it will most probably use the same database under Windows XP. Anyway! I assume there won't be any more recent database for this version in the future due to the lack of updates in the cloud for more than 6 months.

  26. I have just opened the program again, and the error when closing the program window seems to have disappeared. Possibly an incompatibility with another program or module. In the last few days, I have uninstalled various useless programs and cleaned up a few errors. Maybe a reason! Anyway! Now, my main Windows XP partition is almost error-free.

  27. In terms of compatibility between protection programs, I can confirm that Malwarebytes Premium v3.5.1 is not compatible with either Avast Premier 18.8 or Panda Dome 22.00.00. However, there should be no problems with Malwarebytes Free v3.5.1, as it does not have real-time protection.

  28. Off-topic: I got them from everywhere in the internet by using the Google search engine. I don't have concrete links for you at the moment though, but you will find them easily on different websites. Use "smileys animated" instead of "emojis" as your search string! However, I thought you are experienced in researching sources. End of off-topic!

  29. In terms of Protegent Antivirus, there is a review on Softpedia: https://www.softpedia.com/get/Antivirus/Protegent-Anti-Virus.shtml To be honest, I never heard of this program before, though. But it seems indeed to be XP-compatible and quite well known in India (and probably in other eastern countries). Anyway! Another option which has to be checked more deeply.

  30. Well, of course he doesn't own anyone, but you know what I think ? What they did is hypocrisy lvl 1000. When during his times here they wrote him extremely lengthy soapy posts, telling him good night/good morning every day, and in the end, all of that was just to get upvotes (from what I see in their recent activities). And not a single good word, like he wasn't even here at all . Only legacyfan and me remember him.

  35. My grandfather haunted me for decades (and still does). We had a strong connection, so after he passed away, I could still see him (from time to time) in his room. In the evenings mostly, just sits on his couch and does nothing. Then I burned almost all of his things except some - his dagger, and the motorcycle etc., so I could channel the energy to summon him, Why ? I decided not to fight it 'cause he meant no harm and I accepted to just live with it . I don't mourn him. Never did. I loved him , yes, but didn't mourn. I sometimes need his advice and he visits at night, after I channel the energy . With years he became less apparent. And I need more an more energy to summon him again. Creepy, I know.

  39. Actually this is my discovery, so should be polite to mention me. And I still do not have any answers why the much beloved russian (KGB or not) repackers "missed" out that important part completely. I mean , c'mon , russians are so cool at hacking (that's what they tell us on TV , no ?) , so how come they didn't "notice" ? Actually, they "missed" out lots of telemetry parts and codes generated by 360 Chromium to link each user to the PC he's using at the moment and much , much more... https://msfn.org/board/topic/182304-extreme-explorer-360-chromium-78-86-general-discussion/page/15/?tab=comments#comment-1194253
