Off topic, but not too long ago 3 year old kid decided to play with our Apple TV remote (my wife uses an Apple TV for media streaming) and was hitting random buttons on the remote. He purchased GhostBusters: Afterlife for $30 before I realized that he had the remote as I was in the next room over washing some dishes. The movie was definitely not worth the $30 he spent on it. It was terrible. Needless to say I enabled the parental controls on the Apple TV after that.3 points

For me the pro and cons might not go up to 5 uBO pro1: Include community filters that does a part of the heavy lifting when fine grain filtering is needed. So you can start with a configuration where everything is blocked by default (scripts, and all third parties stuff), then unlock manually what is needed while still having the fine-grain community filters apply to the domain you unblock. uBO pro2: Much more powerful filtering abilities, including cosmetic filtering with element picker and zapper options that really let you do anything you want to a website. uBO con1: Filter panel is only by domain and content type, ie. you get only access to the first column and the first line of the uMatrix (kinda), This is a huge minus and made uBO worthless for years to my eyes. uMatrix pro1: Super intuitive Matrix, amazing interface, while still having huge amount of power. uMatrix pro2: Easy to fix a website, most of the stuff that happens can be seen in the Matrix, meaning it is more foll-proof. uMatrix con1: No longer maintained by R. Hill so the only maintained alternative is for UXP based platform with ηMatrix, meaning that you either have to use an outdated extension or stick to a single obscure browser, and I do use other browsers. uMatrix con2: Not as powerful as would be needed sometime, Often you find yourself wanting to zoom inside a matrix element to be able to select which scripts/css/whatever should be filtered. In the end I agree that combining both would bring ultimate power. But I do agree with you that initially I though uBO was useless stuff for newbies, but it is actually not bad. I forced myself to use it at some point over uMatrix, this forced me to appreciate its extended power and live with its limitations. Another con of uBO for me was its reliance on community filters, but in the end this is a compromise, while I do not like to use filters that I did not write myself, I appreciate the time and hassle it saves, and I always find filters to be a bit too conservative anyway so it is not a big trouble for me. PS: I guess eMatrix is a synonym for ηMatrix η is "Eta" in Greek.2 points

Didn't look like it to me. And I don't think everyone knows that, either. And bold capital font is shouting and should rather be avoided. BTW, nMatrix doesn't exist. Oh my dear! A misspelling! How could this happen? Thanks for the hint! Unfortunately, these capital letters again! And no good mood, either. Maybe, a look at this smiley helps!2 points

Found it! Within the last week or two, I opted to ENABLE #enable-experimental-web-platform-features in chrome://flags (saved in Local State file which I also migrated when cutting corners). It is that flag that crashes music.youtube.com. I suppose it could be a "combination" of things, but I disable (default) that flag and music.youtube.com WORKS, I enable and it does NOT work. I wish that flag could be enabled/disabled per domain or something instead of "all on" versus "all off" because I seem to recall enabling that flag was the "fix" for two or three web sites discussed here at MSFN so that's why I opted to enable. I don't even remember what those two or three web sites even were - meaning I'll likely never visit them ever again, lol. But music.youtube.com on the other hand, as much as I like Jango for background music or regular YouTube for background music, I can see liking music.youtube.com at some point in time, so back to DISABLED for that flag for me.1 point

Found the culprit. When I switched from using 13.5.1030 to 13.5.2036, I copied my 1030's Web Data and Preferences files over to 2036 instead of building my profile anew. Unsure just what is no longer compatible, "rookie mistake", I was just trying to cut some corners and generally always build my profile anew with any new build. Funny how it took over two months to stumble into a web site that didn't like the 1030 files, lol.1 point

On the other hand, one might realize one day he's accumulated bunch of savings, grew old and hasn't really lived. Can't say that chasing "latest and greatest" is really "living", though some people want new stuff every once in a while just to break the monotony.1 point

This is gettin' old, with a long, very long and grey beard. Does switching/throwing away lots of burners count as a frequent upgrade? EDIT: Forgot to mention, only new burners. With a new OS (even though cheap, for the most part).1 point

I studied among others classical philology i.e. the Latin language at university which needs ancient Greek knowledge. My hint was not meant to correct your spelling but make clear that ηMatrix and eMatrix is the same, in a rather mathematical form, just for fun. And I prefer to write words in their original form. Misspelling or typos are not the problem as you could see in my writing. And don't forget I am not a native English speaker! My German is far better than my English. PS: According to "for the sake of Deus Omnipotens", I am not a believer, or more precisely, a practising atheist. Therefore, the following applies to me: deus omnipotens non est. Just FYI!1 point

I learned Latin. But please, for the sake of Deus Omnipotens, let us not include ourselves (you and I) within the rank (singular case double entendre intended) of the small handful of Grammar Police here at MSFN. I "see" typos and grammar mistakes all the time - do we really want MSFN to evolve into the atmosphere where 80+ percent of our "content" is a small handful of these, these, or these?1 point

Your review is almost 3 years old. Therefore, it doesn't refer to the current version. I will list a review (or more) which is more recent if available. And it doesn't matter whether it is favourable or not. Furthermore, I'm not at all surprised that your linked review is unfavourable. TBH, I had expected nothing else. Since Covid, it seems that negative is the new positive. Cheers, AstroSkipper1 point

Yeah, that evil thing does not want to stay disabled. To get back build-in Spyware, save this as .cmd file and run it as admin. reg delete "HKLM\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows Defender" /v DisableAntiVirus /f reg delete "HKLM\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows Defender" /v DisableAntiSpyware /f reg delete "HKLM\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\System" /v EnableSmartScreen /f reg delete "HKLM\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows Defender\SmartScreen" /v ConfigureAppInstallControlEnabled /f reg delete "HKLM\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows Defender\SmartScreen" /v ConfigureAppInstallControl /f reg add HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run /v SecurityHealth /t REG_EXPAND_SZ /d ^%%windir^%%\system32\SecurityHealthSystray.exe reg delete "HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Image File Execution Options\MpCmdRun.exe" /v Debugger /f reg delete "HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Image File Execution Options\MsMpEng.exe" /v Debugger /f reg delete "HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Image File Execution Options\smartscreen.exe" /v Debugger /f start %windir%\system32\SecurityHealthSystray.exe1 point

... there's always the adjective Hellenic , which is actually the preferred one (i.e. how "foreigners" should refer to everything Greek) among "Greeks" of today... (OT, I know, but I'm not the one who first committed that crime here .. ) Thanks for your additional information! I had to learn ancient Greek at university. But that was a very long time ago.1 point

Nice This is possible, but be aware Windows can - without warning - overwrite memory used by the buffer, to sent digital audio to the HD-audio link. Watler states in the readme you have to use memory 'outside the reach of Windows', so a TSR, or by setting Busmaster values in HDACFG.INI. But as long it works for you.... If you like you can do a crash-test with a browser like Opera and open 60 tabs or more, in between watching free memory left with System Monitor (if not available System Monitor has to be installed separately with 'Windows Setup' in 'Add/ Remove Programs'. Very good. Setting both to 1024 are 'only' experimental fail-safe values. If I remember well a user had to set maxfilecache=8192 to switch keyboard layouts. Can you tell more how your setting improved stability on your system? Did you experimented with different values of 'MinTimeSlice' in SYSTEM.INI [386Enh] too? Congratulations, you are the first user ever reporting such a result in this thread. Your volume will be set to max already. The right VolumeWidget is only needed if you want to use WAVEOUT.EXE to set volume. Not needed in case of volume sliders of Players (and Games???) who use DirectSound. As far I can judge Watler started with a widget parser in HDA2.DLL 'version L'. With specific GET verbs widgets can be 'asked' which type they are, etc. Codec's return values can be found in HDALOG.TXT. If everything is right, the driver should sent the 'right' SET verbs to respective widgets (if another state than their default state is needed) and also set the 'right' widgets in HDACFG.INI. With HDAICOUT.HDA about max 200 verbs can be sent to the codec. In my quasi-universal design six important 'standard' SET verbs are sent to ALL widgets 02-1F, so to 30 widgets (some High-End codecs have more widgets!). According to Intel's High Definition Audio Specification widgets 'listen' only to verbs they are programmed for, so most verbs in HDAICOUT.HDA are wasted. Otherwise HDAICOUT.HDA must be tailormade, which is not always easy, as can be seen earlier in this thread. BTW always test first without HDAICOUT.HDA, only use if really needed!1 point

The following equation applies: ηMatrix = eMatrix (true) BTW, η is a Greek letter and not the Latin letter n. As @RamonUn already described above, uBlock Origin is a mighty tool when working in advanced mode. But it is more complicated in this mode than in standard mode. And misconfiguring is also much easier. uBlock Origin and ηMatrix combined gives the user full control over a website while surfing it. Simply great!1 point

What I meant here is that I can help roytam1 with whatever assistance he may need to continue Serpent and any of his other XP browser projects. Some examples could include paying for a server to host a git repo that is accessible in China/HK, providing mirrors of his builds, or providing him with a mirror of the UXP/Pale Moon/Basilisk/etc codebases that is accessible from China/HK, etc. MyPal 68 is not compatible with XUL extensions. I have no interest in non-XUL based Firefox browsers.1 point

Your objection is justified. I thought I had already written that, but it was just a slightly longer post. I already corrected my post above. Thanks for the hint! No one has to buy a licence for whatever. In this thread, I list all possible editions of antimalware and other security programmes. Nothing more and nothing less. And guessing wishes is not my job. Here is a comparison of free and pro features: https://www.superantispyware.com/free-edition.html The Free Edition is of course considerably limited. Above all, no real time protection. But what is the saying: PS: Personally, I couldn't care less which version of which programme a user prefers. I provide information, the mature reader can decide for himself what to do with it.1 point

Topaz AI (only older versions) will work on 7, or even Vista, surely won't run on XP and 2000. The only problem, it's a paid software. https://www.topazlabs.com/ https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=Topaz+AI I don't remember which old version exactly, need to do a research. Somewhere from 2019.1 point

Out of curiosity, don't you have right now an account (xpfan1)? What would be the need to un-ban the HaytamFrh one? I mean it has a handful on posts, none of which of particular relevance, on a single thread, . And I believe you should re-read Rules, paying particular attention to #4.b: https://msfn.org/board/guidelines/ jaclaz1 point
