  2. Yes, Palefill is a community effort, it's pretty much about coding site specific fixes using some known workarounds where they may work by injecting certain polyfills (JavaScript functions not natively supported by the browser) or performing some smaller alterations to the original JavaScript code on a specific site. Some can be fixed while others rely too heavily on specific features, those are hopeless. https://www.tunwalai.com/story/651554 The text in the bracket says "Omegaverse". You might be missing the font the site is using. I'd say what it is, but I'm honestly not sure after trying to identify it if I'm doing it right... If possible, having Office 2010 installed is one way to add some fonts Windows XP normally doesn't have. Generally, if a used font is known, that font alone can be installed on the system and then sites using it will display correctly. May not apply for the poster above, but if anyone is unaware, there are extra fonts on Windows XP CD covering letters of specific languages that aren't installed by default:

  3. Discovered new blood group, it is called Er 10/10/2022 A new blood group has been identified, it is called Er. According to a study published in the journal "Blood" there are five Er antigens in this group. The blood group can cause the immune cells to attack the mismatched cells, which happens when the blood groups are incompatible. Experts believe this could be very helpful for doctors and nurses when they have difficulty diagnosing their patient. 4. realy, it fixed it for me (although I was using a fresh install of Windows 7 Ultimate x64) what happens if you manualy invoke it and try to enter serial manualy (of course you run cmd.exe as Administrator) or even better, activate the built in admin account (net users Administrator /active:yes) and try to do this magic from there For 32 Bit OS: "C:\Program Files\VMware\VMware Workstation\vmware-vmx.exe --new-sn XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX For 64 Bit OS: "C:\Program Files (x86)\VMware\VMware Workstation\vmware-vmx.exe --new-sn XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX If you get UnregisterSuspendResumeNotification not found on user32.dll or something along this lines then you probably did not copy it in the right folder How I understand this is that, if vmware-vmx.exe did not launch or returns exit error code then vmware.exe thinks you do not have admin permisions (because vmware-vmx.exe probably tries to write some file somewhere and if it does not have permissions for that it cant so it exits with some error code) in your case (probably, if its not something else) UnregisterSuspendResumeNotification is not uvailable in windows 7 and vmware-vmx.exe needs this function present for some things, if it does not find it it exits) if even that does not fix it, then maybe try upgrading from 15 (if serial file is preserved during upgrade, then you should be fine), I sadly do not know where does vmware-vmx.exe store serial info so I don't know how to do its job manualy

  5. I also prefer the dummy driver, especially since I also have an integrated Realtek sound card on this motherboard. In addition, I can also have a sound from a PCIe graphics card or a sound card on PCIe and even on PCI.

  7. ..and this STORY OF HOPE: Firefighter Saves Child from Rising Waters During Hurricane Ian: ‘Something I’ll Remember for the Rest of My Life’ October 4, 2022 Crews in Florida worked hard to rescue people during Hurricane Ian last week and one St. Augustine firefighter could barely keep count of how many. Hardus Oberholzer told First Coast News he took part in multiple rescues but they just kept racking up, the outlet reported Saturday. More calls came in on Thursday evening as high tide encroached on residents’ driveways and spilled into their houses and there was one instance the father of two children will not soon forget. A photo showed Oberholzer saving a frightened little girl during the worst part of high tide on Thursday. “While these two images perfectly embody the essence of our mission, I have received dozens of first hand accounts of how helpful and present our firefighters have been,” the St. Augustine Fire Department Chief Carlos Aviles wrote in a social media post on Saturday: The child’s family apparently thought they could ride it out but realized they needed help before the high tide approached in the darkness outside that night. “She’ll have a little piece of my heart forever. It’s something in their eyes,” Oberholzer explained. “When they truly are at their worst, we show up and have to be at our best every time. Something I’ll remember for the rest of my life and I hope they do too.” Meanwhile, Aviles heaped praise on the firefighters’ loved ones for supporting them when their community was in such dire need. “I am truly blessed to serve such a dedicated group of professionals,” he wrote. 8. The 640 MB RAM currently used is exactly 10x my original Windows 98 SE build in September 1999. Back then RAM was expensive so my system started with 64 MB and IIRC was upgraded to 128 or 256 MB a year later. ***** Disabling Virtual Memory backfired. Some software (eg. EarthSiege) won't run, even if adequate RAM is available. ***** Reflecting, i've been computing for 40 years. Some productive, lots of fun, many wasted CPU cycles. Random memories. Commodore Vic-20 1980s: BASIC, tape drive, Radar Ratrace, creative, joy of programming, preference for computers over humans. When i was busy programing about age 12, my best friend was so bored he stuck a screwdriver into a port and shorted the system. The computer was fine, lost my code before creating Tape ARchive (TAR file). 1990s corporate: Lotus Notes, Word Perfect, word processing macros, IBM token ring network, floppy backups, old Windows 95 system relegated to storage, first NT delivery needed warranty motherboard replacement, no computer authority - call help desk for everything, small game executables that don't need install, laptop docking station, IBM ThinkPad TrackPoint, lead computer tech played Dungeon Keeper, database programmer had a good contract for years because no one knew his code, Prince of Persia looks great, wished my field was systems not healthcare but then it would be 'work'. Late 1990s Windows 98 SE: first 'modern' home system, fun, lean, versatile, blue screens, not so stable, dial-up, frankenstein builds, so tweakable, so many games, so much freeware, shifted to mostly open source software, appreciate and enjoy the OS even more today. Early 2000s, Windows 2000 Pro: nice, stable, smooth, professional, no clutter, won't play all my games, no true DOS, less impressive long term hardware and software support, wish i could have used it forever. Mid 2000s, Windows XP: too much eyecandy, services, bells and whistles, why so complicated, overall nice, reasonably lean, stable, activation crap, minimize hardware changes to avoid re-activation trigger, good long term hardware and software support. 2021/2022, first (yes) fresh Windows 7 install: OMG everything throbs and glows, delete-delete-delete, disabled dozens of services, horsepower waste, don't panic use only if necessary, occasionally booted only to ensure it still runs, maybe it will help run future tax software once a year.

  12. You can use font managers with the font load feature. For example nexusfont or FonTemp, there are many more.

  13. Unlike what greenhillmaniac does, I simply install the monthly security only updates and NEVER the rollup. This is because I skipped the March 2018 which contained slower microcode for Spectre and Meltdown. Also, I skipped June, July and August 2021 updates which removed the integrated Flash component. I use Flash to run locally installed flash games like Yeti Sports, but i never use Flash online. Works great for me, but I maintained my own local repository of these updates from the Microsoft catalog. Likely I'll never fresh install Windows 8 again. After October 2023, or a few more months beyond, I'll hopefully be able to migrate to an iPad Pro for most things. With a stand and Bluetooth keyboard, it can serve as a make shift workstation, plus iOS can do way more than before, so hopefully it will evolve even further. Windows 10 or 11 is not a consideration for me, but Q4OS could be a next step, if I dare stick with a workstation. .
