  2. I think it's extremely unlikely that the database was actually deleted. I'm not at all sure what the evidence for that was. They would certainly not have bothered to upload everything again if they had deleted it!

  3. I can suggest using Windows 8.1 with classic shell. This little notebook needs every single performance help it can get. Using old not supported windows 10 is just a bad idea by me. Windows 8.1 is the fastest os for slow machine like this one and still gets security updates. It's on you but I suggest downgrading to win 8

  4. Many thanks, indeed! palem's post there is, I think, highly representative/reflective of the major part of Moonchild browsers' userbase, and should also encompass users of Roytam1 forks here... The actual URI of the post (by M.A.T.) quoted is: https://forum.palemoon.org/viewtopic.php?p=211976&sid=0181647fb5c2204a1c681cd16e21004d#p211976 ... As far as I know, no-one here has already gone/will go nuts over it, all is needed is to keep a vigilant eye on UXP+PM issue trackers/UXP+PM master branches and selectively revert/omit what is deemed unneeded for our tree... Even if that, eventually, will just buy us more time (hopefully lots of it...), it would be highly worth it! E.g., I have already warned readers here of the new plan (envisioned by M.A.T.) to move to an install.json based extension ecosystem (deprecating the install.rdf one), I think these developments should be dealt with on a case-by-case basis/when they present themselves... OT: To Sampei and to all observing Easter tomorrow, may you have a very Happy Easter Sunday (... Unfortunately, divisions between communities of the same Faith mean that over here Easter Sunday won't "arrive" until May 2nd ) ...

  5. Well, sure thing, I can check. The version I have is: And if I search for updates, it says that I'm on the latest version. If I try to download the latest 32bit version from here: https://t1.daumcdn.net/potplayer/PotPlayer/Version/Latest/PotPlayerSetup.exe it says: And VideoHelp states that the last supported version for XP is: https://www.videohelp.com/download/PotPlayerSetup-1.7.17508.exe so version 1.7.17508, which is NOT correct as I'm running version 1.7.21295 on XP. Now, the version linked by @VistaLover is this one: https://www.videohelp.com/download/PotPlayerSetup-210209.exe and although it's not the "latest and greatest", it is indeed newer than mine as mine was built on September 2020, while his was built on February 9th, 2021. So I downloaded it and tried to install it and guess what? It worked: and just to let you see that it's an XP system: Works like a charm, so I'm glad he tagged me and I was able to test it as I'll keep using it as my main build. See? This is what happens when you actually test things. About software origins, my XP has the kernel from the One Core API project, the HAL from the Russian mod, drivers for USB 3.0, ACPI, NVME support etc from another modding project that backported them from the Microsoft ones etc... I mean sometimes you have to have a bit of faith in other human beings. I do and everything works.

  7. Same here. I seldom even boot up into it except to install their usual buggy updates. Some really annoying changes are probably small potatoes to a lot of people, but they add up. For instance, when switching accounts without logging off if the current account has music playing it stops when you log into the other account. To me that is just stupid, it never did that in prior OSs but if Microsoft thinks that it should then why not provide the user with an option? Another one is the ability to place icons in the order you want in the folder, they are alphabetical, take it or leave it. In Win7 you could apply a hack to overcome the limitation but no longer. So I find myself numbering the icons so they stay where I want them. When booting into Win10 it goes to the account you shut down in. The option to boot into a preferred account is gone. Very. Stupid. Not to mention the lack of native classic theme. Now I don't know if these changes were made prior to Win10 and after Win7 since I've never used Win8 but for some reason all of these software companies regress when it comes to options. Mozilla and Google, same thing. For now I'm happily on Win7 most of the time.
