  1. I don't think they are admitting anything, they simply found a way to take the money the enterprises owed them for the Windows 10 licenses in another form , I would call it "simple pragmatism". jaclaz

  2. MyPal 28.0.1 uses same method as my builds do, so please check if your statement still applies. Sorry to confirm but, this same Twitter video clip´s audio plays back fine with MyPal, latest version from yesterday, portable installation, but it plays back distorted with your latest build, portable installation too. Just trying to help: For the distorted sound on the video using New Moon. I found that User agent was set to 'Native' and just needed to be set to "Firefox Compatibility".

  3. After I posted this within a week we started being able to activate again without doing this fix (I volunteer at the Turing Trust, we deal with a lot of XP machines) however if one is having problems with the built in activator I highly recommend downloading the “Windows XP Product Key Change Tool” it’s an official Microsoft tool and you should be able to download it from majorgeeks (Pretty sure MS no longer have it on their site) worked in every other instance for me where the built in one didn’t. Also since TLS Certificates are playing a part in this process may want to make sure your clock is set correctly (A common source of TLS problems) I’ll edit my original post to add in this info as it may be helpful.

  4. @Chronius: Good Sleuthing. It's from March alright. Uninstalling it. Hang tight! UPDATE !!!! It worked! Bang On @Chronius. You sir are the bomb. Wow! I guess there really is no sense installing updates past December 2017. It matters none whether it's Vista, Windows 7 or even Windows 8 and 8.1. @NoelC- I just put you here so you'd see this. It seems your advice stands!

  5. Does not work with me: only add extension or add extension IDM integration, not show IDM Download Panel for web player OS: WinXP hack POSReady (Windows XP Extend build 1808) I used alternatives: go to Network monitor to find direct link and copy to IDM

  6. Thank you this sounds very interesting indeed. However I do not have the habit of downloading videos. For some reason, I prefer streaming. As previously mentioned I don't have any ´problems at all using ff52 in all sites that I frequent it plays the videos uninterrupted. The freezing problem every 23-25 minutes occurs only on youtube. For that reason I am going to be using either opera or google chrome. All other browsers NM28, Mypal28 and Basilisk 52 present the freezing symptoms all over the place. I do realise that my query as to why , is something like ... go figure. Kind regards

  7. On my trip to Canada my dad had to renew his fishing license, and they had an XP running for their database access website. Sorry, no picture, there was like 5 people in the way. Also I went to Canadian Tire, and while there was no XP in sight, there was some interesting stuff. An IBM Dumb terminal! Looks like it's connecting to a mainframe (or something emulating one) to manage inventory Also I found an Dell OptiPlex 740 stuck at the BIOS screen, almost looks like a good chance it could have XP on it And, finally, a price checker running what appears to be an XP-era version of windows CE

  9. Driver_98ME_5707_1120.zip is for PCI(-E) network cards starting with PCI\ in their device ID's, not USB! Before giving him the answer, I've took a look at the Realtek's website, and did not found any drivers for USB WiFi adapters for Win9x with their chips.

  11. MyPal does not have this problem, so the codec pack or codecs in my system should be irrelevant.

  12. The key to me seems to be that the updates are cumulative, so having installed some kind of post-December Spectre/Meltdown mitigations seems inevitable. On the other hand, just installing specific updates, e.g., IE patches, could avoid the kernel changes. But even then, the IE patches do update quite a few modules... I wish I could be more confident in a way to move forward that's reasonable. -Noel
