I should also point out that GDPR is a GROWING TREND. The USA does not CURRENTLY have anything at the FEDERAL level like GDPR. But the USA *IS* moving in that direction, just not there yet. Again, not "debating", just "stating". California, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Texas, Oregon, Indiana, Delaware, Florida, New Jersey, New Hampshire, Kentucky, and Rhode Island. All of these States have laws very similar to GDPR. The list grows every year. And that list is both "red" and "blue". EU is leading the way in this regard. But the USA *is* moving in that direction.
-
What about STATE LAWS here in the USA? There is no FEDERAL equivalent to the EU's GDPR, but my STATE does have a law equivalent to GDPR (*many* STATES do!). Not to be misread, MSFN has not (to my knowledge) violated those STATE laws (ie, I can OPT OUT of my EMAIL address being displayed in my profile). In accordance with those STATE LAWS, not even my checking account has my REAL email address. By law, they cannot deny me an account if I do not provide them a "real" email address. I, of course, have to provide proof that I am a real person, lol, and a "real" home address. But not a real email and not a real phone number. Per my STATE LAW, I should be able to OPT OUT of any "targeted ads" on MSFN. I see no route to opt out of ads. Not really an issue, uBO blocks them anyway. I was kind of forced to, a female undergarment ad showed up when at work, THANFULLY no women were in my office or I could have been fired. NOT attempting any "debate". Just asking questions out of curiosity.

Ok so the error code is actually 0xC0000005 not 0xFFFFFFEA (that's the address) as seen on the DW logs and some screenshots above, I mixed up between address code and error code.

Programmes which need OpenSSL for establishing connections can be manually updated to a more recent OpenSSL version if the old one doesn't work properly anymore. I did that in the past to revive programmes which are no longer supported by the author. Installing it globally under Windows XP has never been necessary on my computer.

Sorry, I was incorrect earlier on, you can have your account deactivated without all your posts being deleted. Content will only be removed if your account is deleted by applying a ban, as is done with spammers. Unfortunately, I cannot do this as I don't have the necessary rights, only @Tripredacus or @xper have the necessary powers. One of them will have to explain what options are available, especially if you don't want your name to continue to appear on your posts. Also the issues around GDPR for those in the EU.

ps - I say that NOT as some "debate" over whether sites like this should force members to use REAL email addresses My point is, if a member does not or just "no longer" wishes for his/her PERSONAL DATA to exist on 'your' server, then that request SHOULD BE HONORED. I do not know the "this country, that country" laws on PERSONAL DATA. It was, afterall, VOLUNTARILY given at time of membership registration. But even Facebook and Google will delete that PERSONAL DATA if requested by the person tied to that personal data. Not that I really believe that they actually do. They have logs of some kind and from a "lawfare" point of tracking down "illegal activity", I personally support those "historical logs". "Is what it is".
-
Yeah to be honest that is the most stupid response to account removal request I have seen in my life, and it seems to be a trend on this forum, judging by a simple search. It's beyond ridiculous Anyway, fortunately I am from EU so GDPR applies in my case, and I am sure the powers that be will comply with the law without any drama.

Personally, in a day of "AI Everywhere", I often wonder just what the consequences are of sites like this that possess such personal data! For example, I *always* use GUERRILLAMAIL for forum web site membership creation. That was not "allowed" here at MSFN so I was 'manhandled' into using a REAL email address. And years later, that REAL EMAIL ADDRESS became the LOGIN where it USED TO BE a "username". No offense, I have personally 'moved on' from my FORMER REQUEST to have my account DELETED. But... When I did request my account to be deleted, IT WAS DENIED!!! I believe I was simply informed to just stop logging in and that MSFN now "owns" all past posts. I got no problem with that, I really don't. BUT... I do, technically, take issue with my REAL ADDRESS being on 'your' server. Just one of those "it is what it is" paradigms of life.

The excellent "MS Visual C++ Runtime Packs 2005-2015 (Kurt_Aust, RyanVM)", however, contains vcredist2015_x86.exe v14.0.24215.1 which installs OK on my Inspiron 7500 with SSE-only. OpenSSL v3.6.0 (32bit, Light, 8Oct2025), in turn, installs OK under WinXP on my SSE-only Pentium III laptop after having installed vcredist2015_x86.exe v14.0.24215.1 from Kurt Aust. I am sure it's technically doable in a way that will not mess anything up. If you must, completely anonymizing the user profile works too. I am not too concerned about the posts themselves. I just don't want my name and personal data floating around.

https://github.com/LordOfMice/Tools/blob/master/nvme9x.zip High speed of executing large (>64K) I/O requests. Custom DMA handling instead of using OS service. Large requests (from 64K to max size supported by controller) executed as fast as in NT now.

Doesn't seem to change anything at all Mypal_DBG.txt Update: I tried to do the same thing with Serpent (unmodified) and same error appears (on both DW and FineSSE), but I able to launch it directly on the exe. I guess the debugger is colliding with RaiseException=v4

Thank you, @davidz. @VistaLover, you're right. If my old pc wouldn't have died, then I definitely would've continued compiling FFmpeg. But in the end I indeed don't regret it at all. I've gone from a single core AMD Athlon XP 3200+ to an 8 core (16 threads) AMD Ryzen AI Max 385 (Framework Desktop, see photos), with an integrated iGPU (Radeon 8050S) that is as powerful as an AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT. And let's not forget the NVME SSDs. The transition is enormous! Right now only the monitor I'm using is still my old Samsung SyncMaster 203B (1400x1050@60Hz), because I'm waiting for the ASUS ROG Strix OLED XG27AQWMG (2560x1440@280Hz) to become available. For the OS I took the chance and installed Windows X-Lite instead of the normal Win11 Pro iso. Despite all the negative comments on Win11 at the moment, I absolutely love it! Very fast, light and responsive. Never regretted it. My main internetbrowser is still Pale Moon (on WinXP it was New Moon obviously), but my absolute secondary one is LibreWolf. A lot of websites nowadays just don't work anymore with Pale Moon. I'm now typing this message also in LibreWolf. Also with the integrated uBlock Origin add-on I can watch Youtube videos uninterupted. Absolutely amazing!

DW seems to be struggling. I used to recommend setting DW to the same mode as the app to be profiled. You can try that.

My new beloved superhero, @autodidact : https://msfn.org/board/profile/398146-autodidact/content/ This most kind, generous and altruistic person is also a member on the videohelp.com forums, where he's been releasing Win7-compatible FFmpeg builds periodically; and here, he's doing the same for Vista/XP users; in some way, he's picked up the baton from Reino (whose very old, SSE-only, PC with XP died one year ago) ... As I said, it was by necessity ; but I don't think he's regretted it ...

My Browser Builds (Part 5)
Mathwiz replied to roytam1's topic in Browsers working on Older NT-Family OSes
Thanks. I actually thought it might have something to do with the fact that the initialism ICU, when read in English, sounds like the sentence "I see you!" -
Dave-H started following Please delete my account

@Tripredacus Please be aware that account deletion will result in all the account holder's forum content being removed. As this would potentially make a mess of existing legacy threads, we don't normally do that.

Thanks for the info! Leaving Windows XP,.. that's too bad.
-
Where do these releases come from? Who is the creator? You?
-
... @Reino has left the Windows XP "Kingdom" for good and he now resides on Win11 territories ...

Fileinfo is a lister plugin for the file manager Total Commander. If interested, you should install version 2.2.3 since the more recent version 2.2.4 doesn't install under Windows XP.

Does anyone know if there's an upgrade version of MCE 2005 out there? I have a version of MCE 2005 that I tried to use to upgrade my XP Pro but it didn't offer the option to upgrade. I was doing this the normal way by putting in the install disk and then rebooting the computer which takes you into the blue screen setup. I also tried it by putting the disk in after I had already booted into XP and then clicking on Setup in the root folder of the MCE 2005 disk and selecting install Windows XP from the Welcome to Setup screen. The first message I got was "The option to upgrade will not be available at this time because Setup was unable to load the file F:\WINNTUPG\NETUPGRD.DLL" (F: is the name of the CD drive the disk was in). I looked at the folders on the disk and yep, there wasn't any folder named \WINNTUPG. When I was doing it the normal way and got to the agree to the EULA screen, I scrolled down to the bottom where I got a valuable piece of information. Don't know if this is the version number of the disk or the EULA but here it is: MCE_05_RTM_OEM_EN. I'm assuming that the "OEM" part means it's the OEM version and I suppose that the upgrade option wasn't offered on that version since the OEM wouldn't be upgrading, they would be doing fresh installs. So is there a retail version available for downloading out there? I want to upgrade my XP Pro SP3 version to MCE without losing any of my apps or their registry entries. And will I need to temporarily remove SP3 in order to upgrade?

The option in settings apparently doesn't work (it still says to check email for instructions but I have already clicked on the link), so please someone manually delete my account. Thank you.

When StartAllBack is active UltraEdit doesn't show up on Taskbar when it's run. One needs to first set focus to some other window, then focusing UE's window makes the icon appear.
