vegettoxp Posted December 31, 2006 Posted December 31, 2006 Hey Guys, I was just wondering if it is possible to make photoshop cs2 portable. I found some info on the web and I even try making photoshop portable, it worked, but for some reason the commands from the keyboard don't work. for example crtl-x or crtl-z. So if anyone can help me on what I am doing wrong, I would be really thankful.P.S. Fusion
bonestonne Posted December 31, 2006 Posted December 31, 2006 i could be wrong, but i do believe the only way to make photoshop portable is to install it to the external drive or USB drive.if you just try to copy the program files to a USB drive [which i've tried to save time after a reinstall], its failed due to registration, and how it activates. its worth a try, but i dont see it as working very well unless its USB2.0as for the keyboard commands not working, i'm not really sure what to say about that...could it be the difference of a PS/2 keyboard vs. a USB keyboard? i've never tested the difference.
Tarun Posted December 31, 2006 Posted December 31, 2006 I did some research on this recently. I unfortunately came across a warez version of Photoshop CS (version 8) that was made to be portable.
jim-p Posted December 31, 2006 Posted December 31, 2006 Portable applications are built so as to minimise disk readings and writings to as min as possible. The portable versions of Firefox, Opera, Thunderbird, Nero, Gimp (and so on) aim at this goal.PS is not built to be portable.A friend of mine installed his PS7 on a removable drive. I can tell you it s***s!It crashes every once a while due to the large amount of disk readings and writings. If you do need a portable graphics editor, use Gimp portable.A plugin named Gimpshop is also available somewhere. It makes Gimp look like PS.I dont' know if it works withthe portable version, but you can give it a shot.Happy new year to everyone.
Jeremy Posted December 31, 2006 Posted December 31, 2006 DigeratiPrime might have some input useful to this topic.
LLXX Posted January 1, 2007 Posted January 1, 2007 I did some research on this recently. I unfortunately came across a warez version of Photoshop CS (version 8) that was made to be portable. Because only cracked versions can be made portable, due to said activation requirements.Hmm... if you bought it from Adobe and then cracked it?
erronjason Posted January 2, 2007 Posted January 2, 2007 Actually it is portable, You don't install it on your flash drive, (though I guess you could, its not going to hurt making it portable) Then you need to remake your registry key:Make a new text file name it whatever, but we are going to call it CS2 and place this in it:Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{236BB7C4-4419-42FD-0409-1E257A25E34D}]"EPIC_ORG"=" PUT YOUR COMPANY HERE ""EPIC_SERIAL"=" YOUR SERIAL GOES HERE ""stockphotos_Relative_productfolder"="stock photography\\\\Adobe Stock Photos 1.0.msi""stockphotos_product_code"="{786C5747-1033-0000-B58E-000000000001}""stockphotos_product_name"="Adobe Stock Photos""LanguageID"=dword:00000409"commonfile_Relative_productfolder"="commonfilesinstaller\\\\Adobe Common File Installer.msi""commonfile_product_code"="{8EDBA74D-0686-4C99-BFDD-F894678E5B39}""HelpPath"="Adobe\\Adobe Photoshop CS2\\Photoshop_9.0_en-us.zip""EPIC_NAME"=" PUT YOUR NAME HERE ""InstallerTitleBar"="Adobe Photoshop CS2 - Its just annoying, thats all.To open the program, Click the Open.bat file, and to clean out the registry click Unregistry.batHope this works for you and have a great day!(Note: I am not going to be held accountable for you doing this, if you mess something up, you are on your own and if it doesn't work for you, then I'm sorry, I've given you all the help I can.)
OneManArmy Posted October 2, 2008 Posted October 2, 2008 (edited) Everytime when I load Photoshop from my USB, I get the message that my Username and Serial are not right, and Photoshop needs to close. But Im sure that I typed my Username and Serial right..Is Organisation required?Cause I didnt placed that in it, but I leaved it like this:"EPIC_ORG"=" "Is that oke? Cause I didnt fill that in when I installed Photoshop on my PC..Or is the organisation really needed?Cause then I need to re-install my Photoshop on my PC and put a Organisation in..And did I paste these lines good?I did it like this:"EPIC_SERIAL"=" xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx "Or does it need to be like this? :"EPIC_SERIAL"=" xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx "And the "Name line" I placed it like this:"EPIC_NAME"=" Milo "Is this correct?Sorry that I post on a thread that hasnt been posted on in like 1.5 year, but I need it now.Thnx anyway, Grtz! Kelsenellenelvian Posted October 2, 2008 Posted October 2, 2008 Actually it's rather easy:Go get ThinApp from VMWare, it only costs $4,999.00 dollars.Run a fresh install of windows and have ThinApp monitor the Photoshop installation. It will then build you a portable version of Photoshop.Seriously thats the only way you'll get it to work right. This kind of app was never designed to be portable and the newer adobe apps even write to you MBR when installing.Thats why the "warez" version is so popular because they don't pay for this crap and then they get the neat toys. Also please don't ask how to aquire the warez version as it is very against the rules and we don't support warez.
Nexus_06 Posted October 2, 2008 Posted October 2, 2008 You can't make it portable I am afriad.The activation is machine specific and there isn't a way around that.The activation file is kept here...%allusersprofile%\Application Data\Adobe Systems\Product licenses\B2B86000.dat
x-Shadow-x Posted October 3, 2008 Posted October 3, 2008 As Kelsenellenelvia said, you can use Thinapp, but it is called thinstall. I use it for some projects. Very nice, Hurts the wallet though.
SeeAScot Posted December 5, 2008 Posted December 5, 2008 the newer adobe apps even write to you MBR when installing. Write to your MBR???? :angrym: That's borderline Sony rootkit Take II!!!!!Looks like Adobe is another company I will never buy anything from - like I will never buy anything from the Sony Media division. The problem is not merly the specific instance, the problem is a company which exhibits such total disregard for its customers. How can you then trust that they will not do something even worse in the future!
bmn01 Posted August 21, 2014 Posted August 21, 2014 Hi, when I try running the .bat file to launch Photoshop, the computer returns an error message because I am logged in as a regular user, and it is necessary to be logged in as an admin in Windows to add registration data to the registry. I don't have admin access to this computer. What to do? Thanks.
jaclaz Posted August 21, 2014 Posted August 21, 2014 I don't have admin access to this computer. What to do? Thanks.Ask (nicely) whomever allows people to have admin access on that computer to promote your account to Admin level . Bribe someone knowing the Admin account password, give him/her some money and get the password Recover the Admin account password .Please consider how #2 and #3 may constitute (depending on the specifics of the case and/or your country's laws) a criminal offence and/or a serious misbehaviour on workplace. jaclaz
bmn01 Posted August 21, 2014 Posted August 21, 2014 Thanks. Yep, no way. The sysadmin is really not a cool guy, and he will not allow me to run PS on the company computers...
