I simply use the stock heatsink/fan combo for the processor.

Plus I have a standard fan at the bottom-front of my cabinet to draw cool air inwards & circulate it over the hard-disk, & a fan at the top-rear of the cabinet to expel out hot-air.

My temperatures (all in Celsius degrees):

i have a pretty sweet air setup

i have the antec p180 case with 3 panaflos in it

i also have the scythe ninka heatsink

as you can see from the pics, the air comes in from the right, through the heatsink, and out of the back. i have soo much air coming out of the back of this case, it cools like crazy.

Right now:

CPU at 2.80Ghz 1.68volts B) 26C idle and 37C full load

At stock speeds 1.8Ghz + 1.36volts 23C idle and 26C load

IHS is off, cpu's core lapped + heatsink lapped

Mobo 28C idle, ~38C when running Prime

Hdd 38C, too much. Normally 28C in a case cooled by 2x80mm fans in front

It's not anymore in a case because I'm waiting to put this baby under DryIce, my container hopefullly will be ready this weekend, made from aluminium 10" tall and 3" wide. DryIce has ~-79.5'C Temp. Hopefully my Opteron 146 comes from RMA soon, if not, then I'll have to torture poor Venice

Inside My Case

Is there any disadvantage to placing a harddrive sideways inside a case?

Cooling System? The case itself and a stock heatsink which I will upgrade to a Zalman sometime in the future. Don't know about watercooling...

lol, jeremy, did u rly make that mistake? for dual channel you need them both in the same color slots

isn't that already the best cooling system lol. Not in a case, just sitting there

i would be worrying about dust....

my fan filters already pick up a crap load, after 2 weeks of having my comp i checked them for the heck of it and they were loaded! vry easy removal tho so it doesnt bother me.

I have a lot of air cooling.

2x 80mm rear case fans

2x PSU fan

2x 80mm front intake fans

2x 80mm HDD fan (one for each HDD)

1x 60mm fan on the GPU

2x 120mm fans on CPU

The heatsink of the CPU was made from scrap aluminum heatsink material cut to fit. It covers the entire top half of the mobo. The two fans are mounted side-by-side and take up most of the space on the heatsink. It looks sort of like the dual-fan LeadTek video cards.

CPU is P4 3.6HT overclocked to 4.17GHz. Runs at ~25°C idle and ~40°C full load.

Don't know about the GPU temp or the HDD temp but both feel cold to the touch.

Using a XP120 with an Akasa amber,

Processor idle: 28 degrees load: 45 with prime, S&M and PI running.

Chipset: 44 degrees, load goes up to about 50/55

Cant read drives as they are in a array, unless I were to use an actual thermonitor.

Also since that picture, also have a Zalman VF700-cu installed - fantastic product and very efficient. Old GPU temp was 53 degrees idle, and it dropped to 36. Load never goes over 65 with a warm ambient temp due to central heating being on.

Lian-Li PC7SE, two 120mm fans, front intake and rear exhaust.

I voted "other". I got additional fans but they aren't all running at full speed.

Fan controller: Zalman ZM-MFC1

CPU fan: Zalman CNPS7000B-Cu

Front case fans: 2x SilenX SX-080-14T (8cm)

Back case fan: Antec Pro (12cm)

MB chipset fan: default on MSI K8N SLI Platinum (DFI quality)

GPU fan: Zalman VF700-AlCu on 5V resistor (not controlled)

Athlon64 X2 4200+ @2375Mhz (250x9.5); HT 1000Mhz (4x250); MEM FSB 208.

The CPU fan is spinning at 1900rpm and the MB fan is tamed down slightly to 4000rpm. The back case fan is controlled as well; it's inaudible when sitting in front of the computer but I don't know the actual speed of it. The two SilenX's (cooling 5 hard drives) are given maximum power (whatever "maximum" means for the Zalman controller).

Current CPU temp (normal use): 27°C

Current MB temp (normal use): 24°C
