Desdicado Posted December 13, 2005 Posted December 13, 2005 well , judging by the reactos project (which does happend to have a terrible somewhat bloated Gui) , my hint would be to extract the cab and play around with some files and test if it gives good results (the OS seem to be around 40-47 meg installed and most of win programs seem to install on it just fine) borrow some part's here and there and u never know about application patches , besides it's opensource so tweak-it-in the XP-sp2 files would mayhaps prove something?irc.freenode.net seem to have a channel called #reactos , the dev's respond to tech-questions given to them ofcause you have to trigger the part that gets apps working , seems to be less bloated non-ie requirent system DLL's which is good news (but please dont use their active desktop it just stands for trouble )
Desdicado Posted December 13, 2005 Posted December 13, 2005 My pleashure dude! that's what friend's are for B)
synth Posted December 14, 2005 Posted December 14, 2005 Thanks for the directory listing tip,but I want to have a simple list with just the filenames and nothing else. How can I generate a simple file list as this example:Directory of I:\TrashCanCa$$$h_Cow.jpgSuperbman craps his pants.PNGH4x0rZ_with_1337_b0x0rZ.gifKiss_My_Arse.aviOh_Shieet.xlsWORmD.docDSL_Linux_CVS.torrentSilicone_Vibrators.raropensource.mp39 Files totalAbout the calculator replacement :First, what is the filename of that app?Second, which one of those packages does contain that file?Third,in the readme it says: If you use it,it can damage your Windows installation because it's not made to work as a replacement for the standard MS stuff (!?) No,thanks,I'll pass
shix Posted December 14, 2005 Posted December 14, 2005 @desi don't quite understand, but, are you suggesting winex/cadega win32 api's to use for microwinx?if so, then i'm not supprised if microwinx gets anymore smaller than it is.
Desdicado Posted December 15, 2005 Posted December 15, 2005 (edited) Well gamers might complain , i was thinking of some api calls that require IE, small stuff but importain Edited December 15, 2005 by Desdicado
shix Posted December 15, 2005 Posted December 15, 2005 @desi never really thought of having wine/cadega api's to run in a windows os itself.it's a pretty neat idea if you ask me. winex/cadega does run applications and games in linux. so why not try it running under windows then?i hope this project continues on.good luck gdogg!
likwit Posted December 15, 2005 Posted December 15, 2005 this sounds interesting, hopefully gdogg can make his MicroWinX even smaller now. good luck!
