  5. yeah how fun is it to have system load a bunch of bitmaps and taking more ram? as if Overactive desktop and IE wern't enough for that i have a pretty desktop without themes service installed by default anyway Look at it and weep http://www.upload2.net/image_gallery/3342/8956/namnl%F6s.JPG
  6. My pleashure dude! that's what friend's are for B)
  7. well , judging by the reactos project (which does happend to have a terrible somewhat bloated Gui) , my hint would be to extract the cab and play around with some files and test if it gives good results (the OS seem to be around 40-47 meg installed and most of win programs seem to install on it just fine) borrow some part's here and there and u never know about application patches , besides it's opensource so tweak-it-in the XP-sp2 files would mayhaps prove something? irc.freenode.net seem to have a channel called #reactos , the dev's respond to tech-questions given to them ofcause you have to trigger the part that gets apps working , seems to be less bloated non-ie requirent system DLL's which is good news (but please dont use their active desktop it just stands for trouble )
  8. Synth You need a replacement for calc.exe , well use wine's http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.p...ckage_id=112520 Gdogg: Mayhaps a few wine files could be useful to your project , Wine isnt that big =)
  9. Heh i changed the classic theme a bit removed all 48x48 icons and got a 333kb explorer.exe and 4.22 mb shell32 , it speeded up performance and browsing quite a bit i might add here is a screenshot any comments? http://www.upload2.net/image_gallery/3342/8956/namnl%F6s.JPG
  10. If i install microwinx on a laptop what kind of battery support programs would i need for it since xp battery support is removed or do i just leave it in there?
  11. funny you should ask that cause i have removed the 48x48 icons from shell32.dll and still the icons resize unless i change the view , is there a way to disable 48x48?
  12. Why ever use themes? they only slow down everything i have uninstalled em
  13. yep that's what i used , my question is : how do i now make windows to NOT resize my icons to 48x48 permanently , i never encountered that setting in the OS , Anyone knows a tweak? Also i noticed that the instructions to install 57 meg windows was about making second partition : On this comp i have 2 Nlited installations which use Winnt\profiles and windows\profiles instead of documents and settings so that i guess that operating systems wont disturb the Microwindows installer even if i put it on same HD , i would love to try Mircrowin with a profiles directory
  14. I am used to tweaking xp, i got down shell32.dll to 4.22 mb what i removed was all 48x48 icons and a 333 Kb explorer.exe removing all useless bitmaps/icons (except the my comp icon) also i have an Nlited installation . but windows still shows 48x48 icon view by resizing the icons , i cant seem to put a permanent setting to show icons will there be any fix for that?
  15. Hello can i be a beta tester PM me if yes
  16. I would leave it , there are better Os'es like ARos that doesent drain system resources Till then i Stick to 98lite micro Unless someone removes the **** laggy Iecore code from the shell in XP No to lagging systems just cause comps get better shouldnt mean that we gladly would accept badly coded OS'es
