Removing Both Media Players + Codecs...

It works very well but I have a question.

I removed all media player with nlite, installed WMP10Lite and the plugin with firefox. The stream it's ok but if I try to play a WMV from my pc (not stream) with Media Player Classic or another one result error like (failed to render the file for example in MPC).

The Titou Package is only for streaming solution? or I can make something?

Thank you

Do you have a link to the problematic website please?

James

I can give you one, MTV.COM. This site is bugging the s*** out of me but what can I do. People like to see the music clips but it only works with IE AND MP9/10. If it would work with MP10 and firefox it would also be cool but it doesn´t. :} Lets say I tried everything... aargg :wacko:

What´s the story about MP10lite? :blink:

Now that all seems to work, it's time to think of an unique package.

WM10, Quicktime, Real are ready

I am thinking of 'libavcodec' from ffdshow and audio ogg codec.

What do you think about that? Yes, No, More Codec, Less Codec?

I would also say take ffdshow and ogg codecs in:

-ffdshow plays almost all video codecs and gives pritty good quality too

-ogg is used more and more as almost a successor of MP3 :P

So, if´s it´s not to much fuzz, then go for it :thumbup

(I just check what people are using here in my cybercafé, it´s a good place to check things like that ;) )

titou2k, thanks for the updated packages, and mention on your webpage.

This evening I tried the latest nLite release, along with your WM codec package and the RMlite/QTlite packages; everything installed seamlessly and was most impressive - great work!

Regarding the QTlite package however, I noticed that QTtask.exe was automatically run in the system tray at startup, which is most likely unnecessary. Furthermore, no control panel applet was available, preventing me from configuring the bandwidth settings (amongst others) that users are reminded of just as the browser plugin is opening.

Moreover, have you noticed that Windows streaming media appears to take a rather long time to begin buffering (ie. the 'connecting to media' stage); longer than on other systems atleast - could this be Firefox plugin issue, or merely a side-issue related to removing such a large number of Windows components?

One final request would be an option in all of the installers to specify a custom installation path for the codec files. Eventually, I would like to place all of the necessary codecs in a single folder somewhere (e.g. a path that will never change...), and register the classes with a single .reg file. This would make post-Windows media browsing an absolute breeze! ;)

Thanks once again, cheers!

James

Some questions,Please correct me if I am wrong:

1.Using WMP10lite-,FFDshowlite-,Reallite and quicktimelitepackages means?:

a.-I can remove WMP9 completely using nLite.

b.-I don't have to slipstream/install WMP10.

c.-I don't have to install Real Alternative and Quicktime Alternative.

d.-I can view most streams using my favorite browser (Opera/Firefox).

e.-ALL of the above.

2.Will these packages be updated whenever a new version of WMP,Real,Quicktime and FFDShow is available?

Or can I simply replace old files with updated ones?

e.g: The WMP10lite package contains an outdated version of wmp.dll (version 10.0.0.3802).

With hotfix "windowsmedia10-kb892313-x86-enu.exe" a newer version was released (10.0.0.3901).

3. Can these packages be installed silently?

@jmbattle

i am thinking on an unique setup for supporting multiple package (WM, QT, RM ...) and better customization.

Conserning QTtask.exe, normally it must not start after reboot.

will add control panel applet for QT

@bucketbuster

ffdshowLite support defaut video codec of full package

I saw a small issue with ffdshow, i will see that

@bucketbuster

1) you are right, but don't forget this is experimental parckage

2) I will update package with new version.

3) yes silently, just run setup

New job, new home, no www at home for next 2 or 3 week.

I will try to go on the forum when I can

I hope the new package will be ready when i will come back.
