Ok, let's say I meant KB873374 in my second question regarding the GDI tool. It's still the same Security Bulletin:

Microsoft Security Bulletin MS04-028

Buffer Overrun in JPEG Processing (GDI+) Could Allow Code Execution (833987)

Personnally I apply 19 hotfixes + GDI regtweak (21) + MaliciousRemoval Tool regtweak (22) + WindowsInstaller 3.1v2 + WindowsUpdateV6 and for all okay for WindowsUpdate I apply 3 others fixes (IE, OE, WindowsMessenger).

and i have also latest WMP10 integrated and RyanVM's .NET FrameWork.

Goodbye.

1- Yes, there is 24 Hotfixes, I forgot to increase the count when they released KB898461 on June 29th

2- KB873374 will show up as a Critical Windows Update if you add some more software... therefore I suggest keeping it.

3- KB890175 is showing up on Windows Update from a clean install point. I know KB896358 is replacing it but I won't delete this one from the list unless Microsoft do...

Hi, All!

I've got a few questions regarding the list of SP2 hotfixes published in the very first post.

1. The count is off. There are 24 hotfixes listed, not 23.

2. Why is KB833987 (KB873374) listed there? It's technically not a SP2 hotfix. XP SP2 is not directly affected by GDI+ vulnerabilty.

3. Why is KB890175 listed? It has been replaced with KB896358 (see the FAQ section)

Thus, IMHO, the correct count is 22. Thanks.

Corrected the KB numbers confusion.

You have to build a Repackaged version of this hotfixe in order to get rid of the annoying Pop-up OR use the RegTweak (you'll have to make sure you added reg.exe to your system32 folder to use as Windows XP)

Hulk,

should I just copy and paste the reg.exe to win2k/i386/system32 for it to work in the windows 2000 installation?

IE 6 hotfix KB903235 is out, there is two versions (for XP sp1 & XP sp2).

It fixes the Javaprxy.dll.

Knowledge Base article : http://support.microsoft.com/?id=903235

XP sp1 download page : http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...f8-6993c55840a9

XP sp2 download page : http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...b1-600db8798ebf

I downloaded the XP sp2 one (in french), and there is no file in it, only some registry values in the .INF, and an executable to run (which seems to "fix dates")

Not installed yet.

bye

Yeah, all it is is a registry change. I'm not sure if it's a final fix or a temporary workaround until they come up with a real fix for the problem.

Hi,

I have a comment on KB814078 "JScript 5.6 Security Patch for Windows 2000 and XP (814078)", It's should be replaced by Windows Script 5.6 for Windows 2000 and XP

why ? Because :

This download installs Microsoft® Windows® Script containing Visual Basic® Script Edition (VBScript.) Version 5.6, JScript® Version 5.6, Windows Script Components, Windows Script Host 5.6, and Windows Script Runtime Version 5.6.

and it's also newer than KB814078.

and Windows 2000 Rollup 1 did not include none of them, so one of them should be included in your CD.

I hope I helped :)

KB890830 is now available for Windows 2000, under WU6..

Wasn't available under WU4 (default for W2k) as of yesterday.
