bucketbuster Posted September 4, 2004 Share Posted September 4, 2004 i tried to replace the wmp 9 files with the wmp10 filesand the new files i added to dosnet and txtsetup.sifand it works w/o problemsonly in setuperr.log all the wmp 10 files r not digitally signed@Weed,could you explain in detail what you did? bucketbuster Posted September 4, 2004 Share Posted September 4, 2004 I managed also to slipstream WMP10.This is what I did:1.Extracted all files from mp10setup.exe2.Cabbed all those files and moved them to I386, overwriting all existing files.3.Added new files to dosnet.inf and txtsetup.sif4.Replaced wmp.inf in dosnet.inf and txtsetup.sif with wmp10.infSee attachment to find out what I added to dosnet.inf and txtsetup.sif:P.S.: If anyone finds a better/cleaner method please let me know.dosnettxtsetup.zip Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

bucketbuster Posted September 4, 2004 Share Posted September 4, 2004 After some more testing, I came to the conclusion that it DIDN'T work.When I run wmplayer I get the WMP10 first-run screen, but after that WMP crashes.Also you can't choose which filetypes to play with WMP10.So I think I will stick to the silent install using my main_batch.cmd or even beter:only install the codecs and keep using Media Player Classic Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

They haven't, so its implied that they didn't mean to have it pre-integrated with XP. And I think I found the reason for that - have you noticed WMP 10 is far slower, and sluggish to start up, and UI freezes up sometimes, and uses more memory than WMP9?....by replacing wmp8?
