Unfortunately for older browser users, CF is omnipresent even after one manages somehow to sign-in; try to open your board messenger (PMs), conduct a forum search, have a long-lasting logged-in MSFN session, your ISP gives you a new IP etc. and... BANG!, new CF challenge to prove you're human 😠 ...

The web of 2026 is indeed a terrible virtual place to browse (because of the myriads of bots, crawlers, AI scrapers, etc. which necessitate the intermediacy of CF), with a heavier toll (as ever) on us, retrocomputing enthusiasts...

It's a goddamn nightmare for all of us. This isn't an "old browser" issue (I get this goddamn nightmare on Win10 + most-recent Edge).

Just delete all members, bot or not, and have us all create NEW MEMBERSHIPS.

I'm starting to think that is our ONLY ROUTE OUT.

I can well imagine that, following this recent deletion of bot accounts, constant monitoring of Cauldron Filthcare is no longer necessary at all. The forum software is now up to date and surely gets further security updates. It is far more important to prevent the automatic creation of bot accounts here on MSFN by implementing a specific verification process to ensure that the user is actually a human being, of course not by Cauldron Filthcare, but, for example, by a question or something else that only humans understand and are able to answer. One thing is clear. Such a security filter has been completely neglected in the past.

I've been trying for 10 days now to do everything right and please everyone. For what? For whom? Just because I spent 25 years struggling to keep a forum alive? Only to be called an MS mercenary. I’m slowly getting tired, and I honestly think the only solution left is to shut it all down. Who cares anyway? It’s just not worth my time or my effort. Anyway, thank you for help.
