Wasn't there a red screen of death in a Vista beta?

Totally right, interesting observation!

"It was dropped in Beta 1 (Build 5112) of Vista for all errors except boot loader errors. It can also be found (but rarely) in early builds of Windows 98, even when it was known as codename "Memphis", because these early builds have poor/broken ACPI support."

I do hope that remark was a generalisation referring to the software, and not aimed at anyone on this forum personally.

At least the acronym (BSoD) will still be valid, since both black and blue begin with the letter 'b' :)
