Ublock Origin Lite (MV3) vs AdGuard MV3 Chromium Extensions

These two adblockers are already in development for the next adjustment to MV3.

The latest release of UBO Lite is available here:

https://github.com/gorhill/uBlock/releases

The latest release of AdGuard MV3 is available here:

https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/adguard-adblocker-mv3-exp/apjcbfpjihpedihablmalmbbhjpklbdf

Now, only UBO Lite guarantees blocking of the URL tracking parameter.
You can check at the test below:

https://fmarier.github.io/brave-testing/query-filter.html

Only with AdGuard MV3 is it possible to enter custom lists.
But care must be taken that the limit of 5000 rules is not reached, otherwise the previous rules entered will be decreased to zero, nullifying the blocking effectiveness.
So basically custom list entry is reduced to 1/2 lists.

Now Adguard MV3 ensures more effective ads/annoying elements blocking for cosmetic filtering support.

Although the transition to MV3 seems to be postponed until June 2023:

mr.Hill is unsure whether he will be able to perform upgrades to UBO MV2 after January 2023:

If any forum members have ideas to improve UBO Lite,I invite them to expose them to the developer.
At the moment, only Yuki2718 and I have brought up some proposals to improve the performance of UBO Lite:

Thank you all for your attention.:hello:

Although it will not be of interest to any forum member  while waiting for the resolution of the 2 open issues that I am most interested in I have finished setting up AdGuard Mv3.

With my rules now I can pass this test

https://apps.armin.dev/ping-spotter/

I set up Hard Mode as in UBO but made easier by TLD's:

https://github.com/gorhill/uBlock/wiki/Blocking-mode:-hard-mode

I have improved privacy/security and web pages load much faster.:thumbup

I inserted 2 custom lists to improve privacy/security:

It is possible to simultaneously enable UBO Lite to block the URL's tracking parameter.
In this case with only one filter enabled:

Well. I don't know about adguard (except for its lists), but thank you very much for sharing your knowledge over time. I can confirm that using UB in hard mode you can both have most (not all) of your current social media requirements, while allowing you to surf with relative privacy.

I wonder, @Sampei.Nihira, what lists would you recommend for a beast like mypal68. Be well.

I can give you lists of filters that I use in Edge:

1.jpg

2.jpg

consider that I use at the Next DNS level also:

  • EasyPrivacy
  • OISD full

You'll notice that I don't use anti-malware/phishing filter lists because this task is left to other areas of my security configuration.

Kees1958's filter list (last in the custom lists) is not good for MyPal68,you will find other alternatives at the link below:

I hope it's helpful to you.:hello:

I read some MSFN members fearing Chrome 127 for MV3.
There is no reason.
MV3 adblockers already exist.
It is also possible to implement the "ExtensionManifestV2Availability" policy that will support MV2 extensions for 1 more year.
This, of course, does not mean that some of these extensions would experience slowed or no development compared to MV3 extensions from their developers.

I also read that some developers aim to support MV2 extensions like Firefox.

The Mozilla team will support MV2 extensions for at least 1 year.
Basically what you can do in Chromium-based browsers with the policy written above.
Then they will reserve their decision.
In my opinion there is no purpose to support MV2 extensions longer (whether their development will be abandoned by their own developers).

Much more simpler solution is to add it in the form of a flag.

--enable-features=ExtensionManifestV2Availability

No quotes, commas, exclamation marks, mysterious signs or ancient runes needed.

Anything can be, but the document specifically says POLICY not Command Line Switches:

https://developer.chrome.com/docs/extensions/develop/migrate/mv2-deprecation-timeline?hl=en

Quote

Enterprises using the ExtensionManifestV2Availability policy to ensure the continued functioning of Manifest V2 extensions in their organization will have one additional year - until June 2025 - to migrate the Manifest V2 extensions in their organization. Browsers with the policy enabled will not be impacted by the rollout of the deprecation until that time.

Also with Command Line Switches the browser will not have typing:

"managed by the organization".

I assume that this will be the criterion for application to enterprises.
