Sampei.Nihira Posted October 2, 2022 Posted October 2, 2022 These two adblockers are already in development for the next adjustment to MV3. The latest release of UBO Lite is available here: https://github.com/gorhill/uBlock/releases The latest release of AdGuard MV3 is available here: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/adguard-adblocker-mv3-exp/apjcbfpjihpedihablmalmbbhjpklbdf Now, only UBO Lite guarantees blocking of the URL tracking parameter. You can check at the test below: https://fmarier.github.io/brave-testing/query-filter.html Only with AdGuard MV3 is it possible to enter custom lists. But care must be taken that the limit of 5000 rules is not reached, otherwise the previous rules entered will be decreased to zero, nullifying the blocking effectiveness. So basically custom list entry is reduced to 1/2 lists. Now Adguard MV3 ensures more effective ads/annoying elements blocking for cosmetic filtering support. Although the transition to MV3 seems to be postponed until June 2023: https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/security/google-to-test-disabling-chrome-manifest-v2-extensions-in-june-2023/ mr.Hill is unsure whether he will be able to perform upgrades to UBO MV2 after January 2023: https://github.com/uBlockOrigin/uBlock-issues/issues/338#issuecomment-1262484884 If any forum members have ideas to improve UBO Lite,I invite them to expose them to the developer. At the moment, only Yuki2718 and I have brought up some proposals to improve the performance of UBO Lite: https://github.com/uBlockOrigin/uBOL-issues/issues Thank you all for your attention. 2
Sampei.Nihira Posted October 30, 2022 Author Posted October 30, 2022 I am experimenting with a combination of the 2 MV3 extensions installed at the same time. Waiting for the resolution of this problem,if it is resolved: https://github.com/AdguardTeam/AdGuardMV3/issues/22 1
Sampei.Nihira Posted December 11, 2022 Author Posted December 11, 2022 (edited) Although it will not be of interest to any forum member while waiting for the resolution of the 2 open issues that I am most interested in I have finished setting up AdGuard Mv3. With my rules now I can pass this test : https://apps.armin.dev/ping-spotter/ I set up Hard Mode as in UBO but made easier by TLD's: https://github.com/gorhill/uBlock/wiki/Blocking-mode:-hard-mode I have improved privacy/security and web pages load much faster. I inserted 2 custom lists to improve privacy/security: It is possible to simultaneously enable UBO Lite to block the URL's tracking parameter. In this case with only one filter enabled: AdGuard URL Tracking Protection List Edited December 11, 2022 by Sampei.Nihira 2

Sampei.Nihira Posted December 22, 2023 Author Posted December 22, 2023 I can’t write a custom rule to block WebRTC in Adguard MV3. I opened a problem that was assigned to an engineer (woman ) AdGuard. I have no problem with ublock Origin. 2
dmiranda Posted December 24, 2023 Posted December 24, 2023 (edited) Well. I don't know about adguard (except for its lists), but thank you very much for sharing your knowledge over time. I can confirm that using UB in hard mode you can both have most (not all) of your current social media requirements, while allowing you to surf with relative privacy. I wonder, @Sampei.Nihira, what lists would you recommend for a beast like mypal68. Be well. Edited December 24, 2023 by dmiranda 1
Sampei.Nihira Posted December 24, 2023 Author Posted December 24, 2023 (edited) I can give you lists of filters that I use in Edge: consider that I use at the Next DNS level also: EasyPrivacy OISD full You'll notice that I don't use anti-malware/phishing filter lists because this task is left to other areas of my security configuration. Kees1958's filter list (last in the custom lists) is not good for MyPal68,you will find other alternatives at the link below: https://github.com/Kees1958/W3C_annual_most_used_survey_blocklist I hope it's helpful to you. Sampei.Nihira Posted December 28, 2023 Author Posted December 28, 2023 The response is that there is in the extension a probable bug. I hope that by the middle of the year 2024, the AdGuard team will address these 20 open issues. 1
Sampei.Nihira Posted May 24, 2024 Author Posted May 24, 2024 (edited) I read some MSFN members fearing Chrome 127 for MV3. There is no reason. MV3 adblockers already exist. It is also possible to implement the "ExtensionManifestV2Availability" policy that will support MV2 extensions for 1 more year. This, of course, does not mean that some of these extensions would experience slowed or no development compared to MV3 extensions from their developers. I also read that some developers aim to support MV2 extensions like Firefox. The Mozilla team will support MV2 extensions for at least 1 year. Basically what you can do in Chromium-based browsers with the policy written above. Then they will reserve their decision. In my opinion there is no purpose to support MV2 extensions longer (whether their development will be abandoned by their own developers). Edited May 24, 2024 by Sampei.Nihira 1
D.Draker Posted May 24, 2024 Posted May 24, 2024 Much more simpler solution is to add it in the form of a flag. --enable-features=ExtensionManifestV2Availability No quotes, commas, exclamation marks, mysterious signs or ancient runes needed. 3

Anything can be, but the document specifically says POLICY not Command Line Switches: https://developer.chrome.com/docs/extensions/develop/migrate/mv2-deprecation-timeline?hl=en Quote Enterprises using the ExtensionManifestV2Availability policy to ensure the continued functioning of Manifest V2 extensions in their organization will have one additional year - until June 2025 - to migrate the Manifest V2 extensions in their organization. Browsers with the policy enabled will not be impacted by the rollout of the deprecation until that time. Also with Command Line Switches the browser will not have typing: "managed by the organization". I assume that this will be the criterion for application to enterprises. Sampei.Nihira Posted July 1, 2024 Author Posted July 1, 2024 (edited) I did an interesting (for me ) test. "The Times": Firefox + uBlock Origin - Hard Mode In the red frame of the browsers the trackers blocked in total (4 + 1). Edge + uBlock Origin Lite (filter lists are not at default) It seems to me that both extensions do their jobs well. P.S. If any forum members have any questions, want to know the mode of filtering, lists of filters used......I am available to provide this information. Or of course want to repeat the test (but the website changes) with other extensions and browsers....... Edited July 1, 2024 by Sampei.Nihira 1
Sampei.Nihira Posted July 7, 2024 Author Posted July 7, 2024 (edited) These are my new lists enabled by default in uBlock Origin Lite installed in Edge: I replaced the 2 privacy lists in Next DNS (Firefox + Edge) with: HaGeZi Multi PRO (+ 16501 rules...... I am doing some tests) - 154117rules OISD big - 227666 rules Therefore, the filter lists used in uBlock Origin installed in Firefox also changed. I currently have 42158 network filters + 45317 cosmetic filters. Edited July 8, 2024 by Sampei.Nihira 1
